So often in life we have to make choices on how we will respond to our circumstances. Especially as they so often are filled with the un expected, unwanted and the unknown. It is in those times that God calls us to live differently. He wants more for us then we can possibly know or understand. Quite truthfully often we don’t understand. We see the path in one way, and yet He sees way beyond what we are looking at. As the author, Jen Jones states

“God takes you on a journey you never knew you needed to give you everything you ever wanted”

This book was one of the best books I’ve read this year. The section and topics she looked at were “It’s Not Supposed to Be This Way, “Identity”, “True Calling”, and “Community”. As she explored each of these areas she shared how she also has learned to go through the different places and situations in her life and explore where God is calling and moving her. The introduction sets up the entire book as she states openly “the greatest gift God ever gave me was different”.

I too have struggled to figure out who I currently am, what I believe about myself and where I am going on my journey. This book helped remind me that it is ok to follow a different path not only from what you expected but also different from everyone else. “Different is a choice”. We can all choose to be the same and do all the same things that others are doing, or we can choose to live the way God is calling us specifically to live and with the situations that are in our path.

I truly can’t recommend this book enough. If you have ever felt like you aren’t sure what you are doing or where you are going next, or if you’ve ever really wondered about who you are, this book is a great one to read. There was such truth in the pages it is truly hard to summarize. I gave the book 5 stars on Goodreads.
