One of the books I’m reading for professional development this year. It feels super applicable for leaders of children’s ministry and helped give insight into how we can help equip parents as the primary disciplers of their children. Wasn’t quite what I expected based off of the book summary, but still a solid and good read.

This book is rife with practical and critical practices that will elevate and improve your children’s ministry. There are so many great reminders of the importance of this ministry. Whether your ministry is thriving or struggling, I recommend picking this up and finding a few practices that you can incorporate.

The only negative for me was that I listened to the audio version which wasn’t the best quality. There were a few spots you could tell were “punched in” with different mics and the audio quality in these spots was a bit rough. There were also 2 or 3 chapters in which the audio cut before the chapter was over.

Overall there was some really solid content in the book and some helpful strategies and tips to implement. There are definitely things to learn from this book that are practical and good guidance.

The tone of the book is a little bit why I went 3 instead of 4 stars. It was a bit alarming/the sky is falling in tone. I work with Gen Z and Alpha and while there are challenges, I think the “darkness” closing in isn’t any more dark that it was generations ago, or even in my millennial generation.

This book is a great resource and encouragement for those leading and reaching this next generation. No matter if you are a volunteer leader in student ministry, lead pastor, parent of a generation alpha student I highly recommend this book.
