I truly enjoyed this series. It was interesting to read about the same wagon train crossing the Oregon Trail from six different points of view. It showed how perceptions of the same events can be so different. Tragedy did strike often on the Oregon Trail as we studied in our history classes. These books which easily could have become dull and repetitious kept me reading from one to the next. I actually told my husband that I think we should maybe take a month and follow some of this trail. It would be interesting to see some of the granite monoliths, the forts and the mountain ranges these characters and the actual pioneers traveled past. Interesting stories and characters.
I enjoyed reading this series. It was very interesting following different families' stories from the same wagon train journey. The one constant super irritant was the author's insistence upon substituting a perfectly good and appropriate word (PIONEERS) for an inappropriate politically 'correct' word: emigrants, and occasionally the word immigrants. There is absolutely nothing wrong with using the appropriate and correct word in this situation: pioneers.
This is a box set of six tale of the trips across the Oregon Trail. All that happens to the courages families. Of all of the courage it took each to just start out. All of the friendships, loves and tragic losses they each shared. I greatly enjoyed every page of each tale and I believe you will too.
Excellent box of books 1 - 6 filled with adventure on the Oregon Trail. Families experience hardship, death, starvation and joy at making the arduous trip to Willamette Valley, Oregon Territory. They came from all areas of the east and Midwest to find a new start, gain land and find jobs. This box of travels has joy and tears, but I loved the experience of heading west. Great stories!
I never thought I would enjoy reading about the same trip across the US six times. Each story contains the saga of one person or family. The stories never varied from the trail the wagons took. They just told a story from different perspectives. I enjoyed this so much. A.T.Butler great job.
A.T. Butler does an amazing job of bringing the frontier alive for the readers of Courage on the Oregon Trail. Each family that is focused on has different reasons for traveling west yet each individual must face enormous challenges along the way. Their stories are well worth reading
Love reading stories about the pioneering families who settled this great Land. My family claimed and staked their farms during one of the Land Runs and part of the old sod cabin is still carved into the side of a hill in Oklahoma. I fully understand what hard work these women had Every Day, and even more after they reached their destination. Bless them All.
Once a person has read the first story, all the rest are a simple repeat. Different names, same story over and over. Persona!ly, i would Not recommend this one. Good effort, but for me it fell short.
Is a set of books that explores the ambitions of a wagon train going West to start new lives for various reasons. The hardships each family endures are expressed openly to give a glimpse of life on the Oregon Trail.
Wow, what a great story of several families. The hard-working men and women walked most of the Oregan trail. The pioneers walking so far for a better future on the west coast. All their trials and tribulations. Amazing story for certain. Very worth the read.
The historic references seem accurate and the characters act the way I would imagine people would act under the extremely trying circumstances of traveling across the wilderness in a wagon train. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Interesting and historical accurate. Kept you wanting to know each character personally, Looking forward to finding out the h next chapter in the next series.
