We can never overcome the consequences of our mistakes ... or can we? After almost three years, cop-turned-naturalist Clint Nolan is beginning to think of Starfish Bay in Northern California as home. The tiny town is a world away from the tragedy he left behind in the East, and his demons and self-recriminations are subsiding. He might even consider a new romantic relationship if the right woman comes along. But Kristen Fletcher isn't that woman. New to town, the concierge at the upscale Inn at The Point reminds him too much of his former love. He can tolerate her as a tenant, but he intends to walk a wide circle around her personally. Yet his plans change when Kristen's world suddenly spins out of control and Clint finds himself being pulled into her life--and wondering if she might be the woman who was intended for him all along. In this HOLT Medallion winner, Irene Hannon pens a hope-filled, uplifting tale about second chances, new beginnings--and the power of love to heal hurting hearts.

What a sweet story of two people with backgrounds that made them afraid to expose their hearts to others. Clint has mistakes in his past that leave him feeling guilty, unworthy of love, and deserving of how his previous relationship ended. Kristen has years-old secrets that she has been afraid to share with anyone for fear of being judged and rejected. But once Clint's interest in Kristen ignites, he is not easily put off, and they both share their greatest secrets and shames with each other. When a certain family member comes back into Kristen's life unexpectedly, she has to rethink her commitments and relationships.
a sweet story with a happy ending but it took a lot of twists and turns to get there. didnt really like the mountain lion story line. it did not really fit in with the plot and seemed like drama for the sake of drama. However I would read it again and I would recommend it
This book was surprising . Just when you think you have the story figured out, things start to happen you never expected. Very surprising twist and a little drama too. Good story.
This was a nice easy read. I read this type of book when I can't concentrate on my favorite genre, Speculative Christian Fiction. I can just sit back and enjoy a nice cozy little story. A sweet romance of second chances.
How the author resolves the conflict is a bonus. Irene Hannon ties up loose ends! There were mistakes and trauma on both their parts. They both learned to forgive themselves and see that they were worthy and capable of being loved.
This is the first starfish bay book I’ve read. It was a sweet story with a predictable ending but nevertheless set beautiful imagery of the far Northern California coastline. I’m from nor cal, so this story was easy to envision. I never felt bored while reading and really enjoyed it.
This was a lovely last book in the series. Kriston and clint’s story was wonderful. The way they were willing to help each other overcome there issues and support each other was lovely. I highly recommend this series.
Book 3 of A Starfish Bay series was my favorite! I cried multiple times throughout this book. The relationship between Kristen and Clint was beautiful. The faith was so endearing and the healing they both receive was so moving.
The author did a superb job keeping the story moving to encourage the pages turning. I enjoyed the story and the characters from previous books in the series making an appearance. So sad the series has come to an end.
Clint and Kristen both have painful past experiences, but with growing faith they manage to overcome and grow. Their patience and strength is rewarded.
Life is not always simple, uncomplicated and roses... Irene Hannon's characters know this and often depend on the Lord to help them navigate throughout it.
Clint Nolan has crossed the country to escape the memories of a fateful day as a Charleston cop. Content to spend his time as a park ranger among the giant redwoods, he figures he's about as happy as he deserves to be. When the concierge at the new Inn on the Point rents his upstairs apartment, though, his solitude seems less than satisfying. But Kristen has regrets and secrets of her own, making a happy ending seem unlikely.
I have really enjoyed the Starfish Bay books and am sad to see these characters going on their way. Loved how Irene finished it up with Clint's story. Hearing stories of ladies who give up babies for adoption is never easy. But the alternative is, as Kristen said, not an option. It was fun to see this second chance story come about. Enjoyed seeing how even though they both fought it, love won in the end and they finally realized it works best if you just go with it.
I bought this book a few days ago when Irene on fb had put she had received an award for this book. Interesting story for both Kristen n Clint. Both having made decisions that affected damage to others but how they coped with that was moving away n not getting involved at a personal level in relationships as healing was still in process. Motherhood is a huge decision n one that is for life. Been given a second chance is great for Kristen, Clint n Beatrice.... n they can involve others to help.
For a liitle book this one has a big impact on the heart. The power of second chances and the power of forgivness, particularly of ones self are a major influence in this touching and satisfying story. I only wish the author would write more Starfish Bay stories in the series as I'm sad to see it come to an end. A GREAT book!
Irene Hannon writes first-class inspirational romances suitable for general audiences. The plot is interesting and characters well developed. The two main characters are given second chances and you'll delight in how they arrive at them.
Light but enjoyable. Great setting, and likable characters. The relationship seemed to jump kind of fast from one stage to another (maybe I missed something, or it was very edited). Nevertheless, I liked it and would definitely read another in the series.
I have decided that I've definitely moved on to the romantic suspense genre. This is a cute little love story and I enjoyed it, but found it a bit less eventful compared to Hannon's other books that I have read. I love that her heros continue to be servicemen, and the small town feel of this book
Very satisfying read! I wish Hannon was going to write more based in Starfish Bay! It's a fun location, and the characters are memorable. I really enjoyed reading all three. This one has quite the plot twists!
