Actually 1.5 stars

I was wondering why this book didn't have any reviews & was free after not being released that long ago. I was worried it was the dreaded AI. I don't know if that's the case, but it just wasn't very good.
There was a lot of over descriptions for things that didn't matter. Some things were repeated, like phrases. The characters weren't very likable, not because they were jerks, they were just flat.

This big, traumatic thing caused Vanessa to basically run for her life & hide for a decade, someone from her past finds her & instead of being scared or worried or really mad, she says 'go away', but doesn't actually make him go away or enforce any boundaries she says she has. It just made no sense. That was my big take away, most of this story, these characters & their actions/reactions make no sense. Also, the author's description makes no sense either, so I guess this story came by it honestly.

Kimberly you amazing woman! The second book still kept me wondering and excited to see what happens next! I will say my favorite thing about this series is thw loyalty of her friends and how they stick with hwr through it all! Also the fact that some secrelty had/have powers they are just now coming up! The dynamic between Cass and Lex us on point! Also you can never go wrong with a snarky smart mind communicating wild, Koda is my fav!

Great 2nd book!

More pieces fall in place as Cass takes as a sorceress. Quick read, great friendship between main characters! I'm looking forward to the third book in this series.

the first book was really good and different than what I usually read but this one for some reason slowed down until the end.
its a good book I just couldn't fully get into it this time
