This was quite unexpected and really funny in parts. I picked it up because I loved watching Victoria Wood on television a long time ago and I had very happy memories of her and how she made me laugh. I thought this would be more about her life, instead, it's a book of comic sketches and while it was fun to read I'm sure it would be even better to watch them acted out.

Excerpt from Today in Hospital which reflects on the cuts in the National Health Service: Corin: "I hear you've introduced some revolutionary schemes to help the hospital pay for itself?" Kevin: "Oh, you heard about that? Yes, I'm glad to say, half of our morgue is now an extremely successful freezer centre." Corin: "Really." Kevin: "Tremendous. You can pop down there, pay your last respects and pick up a very competitive shoulder of lamb at the same time."
Ever since I was young I've always loved watching Comedy by Victoria Wood, for me it's always been the comedy dinner ladies which I came to love the most. I also loved watching old episodes of Wood and Walters and as seen on TV. Later on I came to watch pat and Margaret.
I thought I would love reading this book but I just didn't. Without the actors like Julie Walters and Victoria wood the words don't come alive for me. I didn't find the scripts humourous or funny like I would when watching them being acted out. It was the same when I read the faulty towers scripts too.
Victoria wood was a great writer Which is what makes the comedy come alive through the actors and through the actors like Julie Walters you understand the humour more and what Victoria wood was expressing through her words. •••••••••••••••• The script I loved the most :
