THIS BOOK IS HORRIBLE, A TOTAL SCAM AND WASTE OF TIME. IF someone gives you this book they're most likely messing with you and wanting you to fail at life not to succeed. I can't properly describe in words how awful this book is. The writing is f in terrible, it's provides nothing real or substantive but all imaginary metaphor nonsense about imagine a moment when, "sit" with the moment; it presents such idiotic childish common sense "knowledge" but in the most patronizing way possible, using totally fictional scenarios, and written like a novel where the characters are attending an NLP seminar. I literally threw this book in the trash when I finished it and am more convinced than ever that counselling psychology is a complete and total fraud and they know it. This is something this guy wrote on a napkin, then got a high school kid to write some fantasy, then paid an editor, and still the best they came up with is among the worst things ever written. EDIT: I googled the author and see he has been arrested for murdering a prostitute and is a heavy cocaine user.

I like that it was formatted as a seminar and basically put you inside of the experience. Unfortunately, reading about doing a thing and doing a thing are 2 different things. I feel that I need to not only reread this book but to reread it slowly while practicing each process that is described within.

Short takeaways:
The mind is under our control,, though we don't often exercise that control.
We can perform mental manipulations of our internal sensory information to manage our states
Thus our total emotional state is within our control even when it feels to us that it isn't

It delivers on a subtitle of how to build a successful life. It's a great collection of mental techniques and patterns to help you feel good, to help you communicate effectively with others, and to make your future full of positive experiences and positive interactions with others.

Really really amazing material yet difficult to follow some times. Very impressionable subject matter.
I’d rate it a 5 if it flowed more in a heart beat.
