A cousin to Billie Eilish (though she's never met her in person), blood descendant of Wild Bill Hickok, and a long line of artists and creators, Kathy Haan believes the secret to telling a great story is living one. The second youngest, in a massive horde of children between her parents, she did her best to gain attention and kept everyone entertained with jokes and wild stories.

She lives a life of adventure with her hunky husband, three children, and Great Pyrenees in the Midwest United States. While new to fiction, you might’ve seen her work in Forbes, where she’s a regular contributor. Or, in Notoriety Network’s 12x international award-winning documentary, #SHEROproject.

This review may rant, so fair warning.

spoilers.

Jesus. I have so much to say and I think as I wrote this I got more heated so I apologize for strong opinions. I respect ANYONE who writes a book let alone a trilogy and though I may have some strong thoughts I don't want to ever be rude and belittle that achievement.

Having said that.

I want to say that I read the first two book really fast and jumped into this one. I liked them well enough but some of my gripes are hold overs from the first two books that just got more annoying in this one.

My first;
These people mature into adults in 6 years. So everyone except Mehki and Chaos have lived experiences of 6-8 years. So how dear audience are we supposed to believe all this damn baggage? Kieran has had enough pain and suffering in 6 years to say that all his drug usage was justified? That his being super jaded was justified? If they got her pregnant the kid would be in college with them by the end? Her parents are annoyingly overprotective and weird to their adult daughter? Well no shit she's actually 6. I just do not understand the reasoning behind this weird aging accept to have the previous series mesh? Or so that we get Novas book and she isn't 15? I mean Jesus Mehki lived an ENTIRE life compared to these people how is he not annoyed he is actually 19! Years and Years more bullshit under this man's belt and we BARELY get to know him outside of sex scenes.
I also then can't take their "life long friendship" seriously either. Jax sold his soul to Chaos 2? years ago 3? To save Jax and get him happiness. soooo. you knew him for 4 years? and sold your soul......again no. This isn't some long committed friendship you sacrificed for. This element just ruins so many parts of this. Rose's family background? She was born and mature when her mother was kidnapped and brought on more mates that endangered their family yet she acts like they raised her. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE. and like I said it makes me furious because this detail isn't even needed and messes up so much!!!!

*angrily shoves hands in air and moves on but never lets go of this annoyance*

Okay. now. Let's move into this book in particular. What the hell was this. Now don't get me wrong I like smut I'm down it's a majority of what is in my Kindle but at some point I was like okay so no plot? We are just done with it? Our apparent "big bad" in the series was just Kieran's grandma and that ended in two seconds, and we moved on......no underlying plot? Kay. We couldn't have a little conspiracy? Farther up the ranks? brewing of other angry families who look at the royals and think they choose themselves over anything else? Nope? just some crazy grandma....cool cool.

Then we add chaos and this we must ascend stuff but all we get are more boring classroom scenes, they all need to bond and be strong (fuck like rabbits and obv that's how you connect), and her family at the dinner table scenes that are just recycled from meeting other mates.
Maybe it's because we are trying to do a 6 man harem for her, 7 for her mom all siblings and their significant others and trying to make us give a shit but I assure you I do not by the end of this. It is just too many characters even for the best of authors. It all just falls too flat. We get built up for two books and it goes nowhere.

I also would be remiss if I didn't mention my issues with Kieran. Book two he gets super high and professes his love while naked after a misunderstanding of her getting in the shower with him. He then ya know FU**ING DIES AND SHE HAS TO DRAG HIS SORRY A** ALL THE WAY OUT OF THE TUNNELS AND BARGAIN WITH A GOD TO SAVE HIM. And this man. THIS MAN, has the AUDACITY to come back to life and throw himself a little pity party that she rejected his high advances after he bullied her for two books. THEN after zero grovel. (she really groveled to him more 🤮) they mate. She had to do all the heavy lifting and this man child with his 3 years of baggage? is just given this pass. He also is a drug addict who OD'd and died went to actual hell.....and no one around him says yeah we should get him help. We just are on board with the love of a good woman can save us. GIVE ME A BREAK. I just. hate when drugs and drug addiction get depicted this way, like the love of someone else can keep you from addiction routed in grief and loss. It makes me dislike his character immensely. When they are about to get together and he says that trying to get her love him already killed him once, and she flenches like it's her fault YOU HAVE TO BE FU**ING KIDDING ME. How is that okay? How is that not super manipulative and taking no responsibility? He is a straight up drug addict for years and because the one time he goes to far is around when she didn't jump on his d*CK he thinks that's okay to say. No. Not healthy or normal or sexy or cute or anything. If someone does that sh*t to you run.

ANYWAY. *seriously asks myself why I didn't put this book down at that point*

Alright. Overall I'm mad at so many small details that I can't enjoy the over all picture anymore and that's why this got such a low rating for me. I asked myself outside of sex what I know about our main characters and the answer was really nothing. I asked myself if one of them had died in ascension would I have cared and I thought hmmm no. Then I challenged myself to name all the characters in the book and I almost couldn't! so. here we are.

I'm not used to writing comments on the books I've read, but for this one I have to.

I read the three books in the series and for once nothing improved as the reading progressed. Let's put aside the fact that the faes arrive in adulthood in just two years, it's not one of the strange things that I have read.

The rest of the story is also without sense, there is no development of the characters, we do not feel any development in their relationship with the heroine but also with each other.
Literally I had the impression that as soon as Rose saw a man she said to herself, I'm going to bind to me without thinking too much about the rest. Certainly it is a reverse harem but we are still supposed to feel a certain attraction and a certain development in relationships.

I find that there is also a problem with the timeline of books, on several occasions we are told a few weeks have gone or a few months whereas in the last one of the three we are told that in not even a year Rose already has 5 mates. There is something wrong.

Kieran's story really broke my heart and it's the only relationship in which I felt a certain development even if frankly I found Rose's behavior detestable towards him. He tells her that he has feelings for her, that he suffers from the traumas he suffered and she acts as if nothing had happened...

Finally when the author says that there is no need to read her mother's story to understand what is happening in the arc of Rose I do not agree. I started with her story and from the first chapters I was completely lost, we are not told anything that could have happened before how Rose got there and so-called danger for her and her family. Same for the fact that she is supposed to be incognito in the university whereas after a chapter she has already toasted herself in front of 5 people.

Really I do not advise to read this series unless you like meaningless readings without any script or romantic development.

The ending to this story felt very anti-climatic. I was either expecting something really exciting to happen or the biggest cliffhanger and onto the next book. Did I finish this book, yes did I enjoy the last half, not really. I know the next book follows the other sister with cameos from the OGs but will it give me any of the closure I want? I will read more from this author to give her another go.

Way too much sex , it really wasn’t needed and this would have been a much better story without huge sex scenes in most chapters!

3.5⭐️ - really enjoyed this series overall, am curious to read about the parents and will likely go back and read that series as well.

We pick up where we left off with Rose and her guys. Kieran is in peril and Rose is desperate for him to live. The rest of her mates are wary of her newest soul bond. especially when they find out they have until the end of the summer to learn everything they can and basically ascend to be gods. Theo and Chaos work to teach the remaining mates and Rose what they know, and test their bonds so they can survive ascension.

Really enjoyed the vibes of this book but each one felt very disconnected. It seems like each one could’ve been a standalone and we’re just made as a trilogy to piece the story together with the same characters. There wasn’t an overarching issue that was covered in all three of them each one had a different storyline almost. Other than that I really enjoyed the characters and the dynamics

Couldn’t stop reading

10/5 Would recommend if you like reading reverse harems. During the last book there was a little MM (kissing, BJ, touches), they didn’t F%^* though. There are some very steamy spice scenes. Not a dark romance, but will definitely make you hot when reading. It took me 2 days to read all 3 books on kindle unlimited. Spoiler: they all end up safe together at the end. Or do they? 😉😁

Book three has all the steamy/spicy tropes! It’s a forbidden romance with forced proximity, fated mates, and only one bed (and one woman.) Did I mention it’s MMFM+?? Whew! This author has a way of taking the reader on a wild ride. High stakes and packed with emotion, this is my favorite in the series.

Wow just wow, I loved this series, the ups and downs, the twists and turns, I loved it all, this was so easy to read and just made me happy. I still have questions that need answered and hope the next in the series will answer them. Just having to wait is a bummer but it will be worth it. Highly recommend but do start with book 1 so it all makes sense and you get the full impact of the series.

A HEA for our harem. I am happy with their ending and their journey overall. I can keep it there can’t I?

But alas, the writing was still juvenile, surface level, and I was taken out of the story a few times by confusing or crazy events. Overall I did enjoy, I just wish it was a little deeper and had that oomph I’m looking for

This is for the whole series. Did I enjoy it? Yes. Did it have plot holes? Yes. Would I recommend it? Yes. If you can look past some plot holes and sometimes it was repeating the same thing over and over (which did get annoying). But I really like all the characters. Love Rose and her mates. And I will read Nova’s series once it is done.

Nice conclusion

This book was definitely more spice forward than the other two but I didn't mind it. I like that they all came together (pun intended) to work through their differences and create a working relationship and save the day.

This was my favorite book of the series! The tempo kept me interested, the story was great, and the spice was SPICY.

The HEA for the main characters made my heart swell. I also loved the ending as it opened up the love story for the next book/couple.

Moons & stardust

Rose and her mates go on a journey and within that journey the cabins are bewitched. Someone old helps them get through it all with giving them the last of her essence.

I'm literally not ok. I didn't realize this would be the last book of Rose and all her mates. I was not mentally prepared for this moment. The ending had me in a whirlwind of crying and happiness and I love the ending they had. I'm so excited for Nova's story to come in book 4 of Fae Academia.

This is a need to read if you love why choose and fantasy. I devour Kathy’s books so quick because they are sooooo good!
