Excelente revisión de la memoria histórica de México. El autor centra el libro en el hecho de que México es, de origen, multicultural. Esa multiculturalidad ha derivado en conflictos y ventajas para la conformación de la nación. Especialmente importante es la lectura del primer capitulo acerca de las cosmogonías prehispánicas y el penúltimo capítulo que analiza la narrativa histórica de quienes están en el poder desde el final de la Revolución. La construcción de la identidad nacional se impone al destruir o minimizar la multiculturalidad. Es propuesta del autor rescatar esa multiculturalidad. Debería ser lectura obligada en Preparatoria aunque su lectura requiere conocimiento general de historia y puede ser tedioso en ocasiones.
