After Aram's elder brother Jeile fails to lift the spell on him, Aram is forced to stay with Airi. Meanwhile, an unsuspecting Airi recites Aram's full name in front of the mirror and is magically transported to Astale! But to Airi's dismay, the citizens of Aram's kingdom give her the cold shoulder. What do they know about her secret bloodline...?
Matsuri Hino was born on January 24 in Hokkaido. She was a bookshop keeper who one day decided to become a manga artist, and all of nine months later, in 1995, she published her first manga title, Kono Yume ga Sametara (When This Dream Is Over), in Japan's LaLa DX magazine.
There are a few mildly funny moments in this volume but the story, layout, and art are messy and the story seems to be spinning its wheels to milk repeated gags.
8/2020 Update: When I see reviews like this sitting on my shelf, it forces me to come to terms with the fact that I've been on GoodReads since 2010. When I read this series in 2010 I was 17/18, and saw 0 issue with this (and if we're being honest, at that age I was HEAVILY subjected to age gap relationships/grooming myself so I didn't even think twice about it). I still have the physical copies on my bookshelves. However now as a 28 year old woman, the way I would approach a story like this is completely different. The premise of a young boy transforming into an older version of himself so he's "old enough" to date an older girl is something that I would not be ok with now. However, in acknowledgment of my original 5 star rating, I've changed the ratings on this series to 3 stars (halfway between 1 and 5) to preserve my original rating somewhat while acknowledging that I've changed.
The characters are adorable, and the plot is picking up but it still feels slightly like a trek to get through this volume. Perhaps it's my aversion to the whole young-kid-falling-in-love-with-older-girl-and-her-reciprocating-just-because-he-can-transform-into-an-older-version-of-himself. Aram is still just a kid and it's weirding me out. And the insta-love is grating on me too.
Aram is still cursed and Airi becomes his sort of safe house. This volume feels really character driven. We have Airi becoming more confused about her feelings for the little prince and a love triangle develops.
I like the Arastle scenes and felt that the kingdom is a bit harsh when it comes to desertion of the throne. We meet Raz, Aram's cousin and descendant of the person that was to marry Airi's ancestor. AND THAT MARRIAGE-VOW SCENE. Poor Airi is so confused because Aram is mature for his young age and he is cursed to become big everytime he's exposed to the dark. O, I am looking forward to the shenanigans in the next volume. Also, Aram's fiancee seems FISHY. We'll defiantly see her again.
My objections with the overall story hold, that Ari is too old for Aram and that the romance doesn't work just because once in a while he's magically zapped into a 17 year old. I think I could have gotten into this story if she'd hit it off with his older brother. It also would've been a nice, interesting twist. I like stories where it isn't the guy the heroine initially lays eyes on that is necessarily her love interest. The best thing I can say for this series is that the art is consistently gorgeous. And it is definitely readable; if a friend happened to own all the volumes, I'd certainly finish it. But it is very far from being worth buying.
The cover really makes this look like a much more erotic manga than what you actually get.
This volume really progresses the love story of Aram and Airi, and even though I'm a little weirded out by the age difference (which is really only two years, but those are two long years), I found myself rooting for them. I loved the portions that took place in Astale and learning more about Airi's ancestors and their ties to the magical kingdom.
In other bits and pieces: - Airi's swimsuit was adorable as all get out - Raz is sort of hot and I hate that I think that, because his character is shady - Beware the cliffhanger ending, if you don't have Vol. 3 readily available.
I don't know if I like this story or if I'm creeped out by it... The love story between the two main characters is sweet and funny for the most part, except that sometimes the main love interest turns into a 9 yr old boy - literally! Or rather he's a 9 yr old boy that's had a spell cast on him so that he's sometimes a 17 yr old... Like I said, weird and slightly creepy. But cute and funny when he's a teenage boy...
continuing the silly adventures. in this one, airi accidentally visits astale, where she is arrested. aram fools airi into marrying him to save her life, but they need to keep it a secret. back in airi's world, all of the magical men enroll in her school. cue the shenanigans. totally preposterous. going to go get volume 3 now.
Ora attenzione agli spoiler e soprattutto TW PEDOFILIA
After a difficult read, I always find it best to refresh with a cute manga series. This time. I went for a rom-com. It was cute, quirky, and quick.
The premise is simple - a normal high school girl has a magical prince from a different world land pop out of a family heirloom, and she has to take care of him while he’s stuck in this world. Unfortunately, said boy has had a spell put on him where he gets older when he is left in the dark! Thankfully, the spell wasn’t perfect, so he only ages to 17, but to be honest, it’s SO WEIRD. Ultimately she falls for this boy, but it’s a little uncomfortable that he keeps bouncing ages, and even when he is in the 17 year old body, his mind is still much younger. This leads to a slew of hilarious events, and we get to travel to different worlds while trying to help this mysterious boy break the spell.
Oddness aside, it’s a silly manga that will make you smile. I devoured it, and was a little disappointed when it ended because I wanted more!
Honestly I cant get past the seven year gap between the "Couple". Airi is 15 and Aram is 8 and I cant look at this with a fond eye. Not to mention that the plot in this volume is very fast paced, to fast paced. Aram was actually engaged to a princess at his age in his homeworld, but that drama unfolded itself for barely three pages and we never saw her again. And those forced "erotic" scenes, as the author calls it, made me unwell on a spirituall level. The sole fact that this is a short series is pushing me to hate-read this to the end.

Hmmmmmmmmm I'm not sure how i feel about this volume. • I think it's just the magic system and all the random boys/men showing up randomly. • The romance is cute but at the same time strange and forceful. • The art though is gorgeous. Overall, just funky and not for everyone. Because of these points I have to give this a 3-3.5 out of 5 stars.
I'm so trying to turn off my brain with this series. Can Airi fall for her classmate instead? There are a lot of cute boys in this series, at least. It's honestly like a comedy reverse harem. That beach chapter was fantastic, at least!
I enjoy the artwork but am bothered by the romance between a little kid and high schooler. I remember loving this when I read it back in high school, enough so that I bought the manga, but I don’t think I really examined concept of the book.
This whole series is a reread and it's as lovely as it was years ago. I love the looks of the clothes in the magical realm and could have really done without the return to the high school and the silly little beach drama, but, other than that, it's perfect. Love the art.
The age difference really bothers me. Does he mentally grow as well from the spell? It hints that he doesn't....and that makes this all feel really off.
