"Those magnificent men in there flying machines" 🎵🎼

These gentlemen were pioneers! They all had the dream to fly and some soared high and others got a face full of ground, as Douglas Adams would say, "the trick to flying is throwing yourself at the ground and miss" and trust me there was a lot of hits, funny enough they tried to invent the parachute before the plane, quite a bit of foresight if you ask me. Now unless your like me and have a huge love for aviation history and plane's, you might not find full 100% enjoyment here, but the science is fun and the laughs are real, as you get to read about the true looneys of early manned flight, the ones that threw themselves at the ground and sadly didn't miss, but kept trying until they died or they died literally there men would keep going until it killed them, and then some looney would pick up where they left off and improve the design and eventually miss the ground! And we laugh and make fun of them now, but if it wasn't for these looneys we probably wouldn't be flying around the world as we do today, and mentioning that isn't it crazy to think that the modern idea of flight was in 1903 with the wright brothers, and the first passenger jet flight in 1949, we haven't really been flying for that long, but look how much we have achieved, hint hint we went to the moon, now if that don't make you proud to be human, I don't know what will.

Really love this book - just packed with facts both historical and scientific in an easy to digest form - just take 2 x 10 minute teaspoons nightly and by the end of the week you'll have an expert experimenting with paper planes and parachutes. Suitable for children aged 7-11.

I think that this book is great for people who have a liking and have some basic knowledge about aviation, it is also perfect for people interested in physics as they will learn the logics of an aeroplane, for example, how the aeroplane works and how it flies, they can also learn what forces acts on the aeroplane when it is in the air. It also contain facts about the air cabinand some controls which makes it full of knowledge, thus can be read by people who wants to be a pilot.

Have you ever dreamt of a book which explains the phenomenon you love in the most amusing way?
The Horrible Science series is truly for everyone, children and adults, science lovers and non-science lovers.
Its a fun way to remember and connect historic events which led to the machines we use now, along with the science stuff!
Looking forward to more of this series.

Compared to other titles in this series, I found this book rather disappointing. I'm not sure if this is because it's to do with man-made machinery science rather than natural science but most times, no matter what title in the series, I usually find them very interesting whereas this seemed boring to me.

This highly entertaining book was all about how people took to the sky. And then crashed many times one after the other after the other. I learnt from this book the importance of aerofoil when you fly a plane.

This book is about flight. And I also learned that leaving class with a special sort of plane is one km per hour faster than the speed of sound. That means that by the time you've counted to one, you'll just be at your house. Quick! Albert Einstein truly invented the airplane. I leaned that Amelia Earhart dropped oranges on a passing airplane captain. Now you can know how to write book reports with one quick invention. You will need a rubber band and a table with openers that look like a mouth. See I told you everyone invents something. I recommend this book to airplane pilots and inventors and Albert Einstein because he invented the airplane.

the otherwise boring and dull facts presented in the most unusual and fabulous way .....humorously true !!
P.S.: Nick Arnold should start writing School textbooks😋....no child shall get bored of history and science if he does so
