At some point during the time Luke Talbot arrived late at the high-society soiree, then hurried her home for safeguarding, Abby realized her husband truly was living a double life. His secrets, however necessary, tore at her insecurities. How could she have married this man, slept in his arms, given him her heart...never knowing who he truly was?
His lies left her no choice. She filed for divorce. And discovered that Luke wasn't about to let her go without a fight.

Luke and Abby have been happily married for a few years, but now she suspects he's cheating on her because he lied about where he was staying during his last business trip. Confronted with his lying, he can't give her a proper explanation for it, so what's she supposed to do? She files for divorce, of course. The truth is, Luke is a spy working for the government but he obviously can't tell her that. So he has to find a way to make amends with his wife without revealing his "big secret", which is not an easy thing to do when all he can say is, "Trust me blindly, Abby."
Well, Luke and Abby were nice characters, but I didn't "connect" with them. I also thought she filed for divorce a bit too fast: she asked her lawyer to get the divorce papers ready to be filed even before confronting Luke to see if he had an explanation for his lying to her, and that was just "wrong". I mean, give the man the benefit of the doubt - after all, he's your husband, you love him and, up until now, you've never doubted he loved you back, right? The ending was kind of meh considering all the "drama" Abby had been making, but it was nice to see how the happy couple managed to work things out in the end. All in all, this was an entertaining but not memorable read.
Piuttosto prevedibile.
An okay book with no cheating, little angst and little action. Both characters seemed more alive in the flashback than in their present. Just did not grab me.
I think this was an okay book. Abby has learned that her husband, Luke has been lying to her for years...and now she can't believe in anything about their life. And when confronted by his wife, Luke can't tell her the truth, which simply compounds the trust issues. And he can't tell her because he's a spy and it might put her in danger. On top of this angst is the fact that someone is trying to kill Abby.
First of all, I loved Luke. I could feel his frustration. The poor guy. Abby frustrated me a bit. I could understand where she was coming from, but she was just a little quick on everything - quick with the divorce papers, quick to set it all aside and then just as quick say she'd still be divorcing him just so he'd be safe at work. And honestly, that felt a bit contrived for me, but they didn't dwell too much on it. But Abby did get on my nerves a bit.
Then there were a few plot holes that had me thinking... Why was the killer after Abby in the first place when Abby didn't say anything about having her mother's journals until they were trying to lure the killer out? How did the killer know Katherine was following Abby? Did she? Was it just coincidence that the killer hijacked a spy's car? It made me wonder. But definitely an engaging story - Luke was the best part.

Abby Talbot has more stress than she can deal with. Her mother has been murdered, she hates her job, the husband she has loved and adored for years is keeping secrets from her. She loves Luke, but he has lied to her and she fears he is having an affair.
Luke loves his wife. His work for the government is top secret, and mistakes have been made that has put his marriage in jeopardy. Receiving divorce papers at work let him know just hos much Abby mistrusts him. Knowing someone is trying to kill her, he must work even harder to get her to believe in him. Until he can find out who killed her mother and tried to kill her, Luke can not begin to repair the damage his work has caused.
Abby must trust in the man she loves, and hope they can get all the answers need in time to save themselves and their marriage.
D1755 Oct06 Secret Lives of Society Wives #6. Luke Talbot met Abby Baldwin when they sat beside each other on a plane to Paris. It was love at first sight. Abby suspects he's having an affair. after the empty promises about having a family, and his disappearances without calling she ready to file divorce papers. He has secrets he can not tell her. When he turns up late at the ball she and the Debs sponsored for a charity, he saves her life when he smells poison in her drink. Nice wrap up to the series.
well, for the last entry of the series, not bad! There were 2 books in the series I skimmed through, but not this one. Even if the book was a bit predictable, she concluded it well! bravo!
I've read this novel, under a different cover but enjoyed it all the same. It was good to see where the series went, even if I didn't read them in the correct order, or all of them in general.
