Basic Training for the Prophetic Ministry is a prophetic training manual designed to equip and deploy Christians into the fray of a darken world void of the voice of it's Lover. This manual will prepare you to find lost treasure in the hearts of people an
I have to resign myself to 3 stars for this one. It is well written and I love Kris Vallotton as a teacher but it I feel this is a book best for group discussions and not one I could readily recommend to a friend, mostly because some of his interpretations of Scriptures I question. His gifting is more strongly in the prophetic arenas but I wish he had had someone gifted more strongly with a teaching gift to proofread this -- maybe he did, but I still question some of his interpretations. It's a good book, it has good points, just check his Scriptures. I am currently reading anther by Mike Bickle that seems to have more depth of Scripture -- too soon into it to comment on that one though.
An excellent read for any one who already believes in the prophetic and wants to set about better equipping themselves to walk in it and grow in it. It's short and compact, so it doesn't give the fullest explanations really (and would convince no skeptic - but that's not who it's for), but what's there is GOOD. He gives thought provoking exercises and ways to activate yourself in this gift. He also lays out some key differences between Old Testament prophecy and New Testament prophecy.
This was an excellent study through the gift of prophetic ministry. My daughter and I took our time working through two chapters at a time then meeting to discuss it. What a treat to do this with her. We discovered that we each had a different version of the book, so we gleaned extra insight.
The study is well structured and gave practical information to develop this gift. I really enjoyed the insight into this gift and stories from the Bible where this gift is used. We had great discussions each time. There are discussion questions and extra group questions at the end of each chapter. Although, this book doesn't have to be done in a group.
This is a must-read for every Christian! I love how didactical Kris Vallotton is in his books, but this one is beyond words for me. So practical, so clear. It felt like he was leading me by the hand sometimes, and it made this reading very special. I think this book is a great tool if you want to understand more about the prophetic ministry, specially if you don't consider yourself a prophetic person — you may find out you actually are, like I did. And if you do see yourself as a prophetic person, read it because it will teach you how to steward your gifts the most biblical and best way.
This information is really straight forward and very practical.I highly recommend this book to everyone who want to go deeper with their walk in God through the prophetic gift or calling.
A quick read about prophetic ministry, including basic training how to hear God's voice and how to differentiate whether the voice come from real God or not. For many people, this teaching maybe full of controversies, but here author explained the foundations first.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it spoke right to my spirit. There is a lot to take away from this book and to share with others. I would recommend this book to others.
"True prophecy is looking for gold in the midst of the dirt in people's lives."
This statement forms the heart of this book. From this core thought, the writer gives good insight in the role of prophecy, how it functions and gives guidelines how it should be applied.
It explains the difference between prophecy in the Old Testament and prophecy in the New Testament and how being a prophet (a special calling from God) is different from being able to prophecy (which is for every believer). It explains the difference between 'the last days' and 'the last day' and how knowing the difference is important to your view of the role the church and prophecy plays. It gives clues how to recognize false prophets (not what you might think) and how to grow in practicing prophecy (hint: it doesn't require talking old, archaic language and ending in 'thus says the Lord').
As usual I don't agree with every explanation Kris gives, as I sometimes feel he bends things too much to make it fit into his view (according to Kris a prophets reward is the ability to hear and see. Why? He wouldn't be a prophet without it so how can it be a REWARD?), but I found this book a very nice read nonetheless and coming from a sincere, fatherly heart.
If you are interested in the Prophetic this is a good starting point.Kris clearly explains what the prophetic is and what it is not. You will learn what Prophecy is and what it is not and how to operate in the prophetic and how not to operate as well as how to tell a false prophet. You will also know the difference between Old Testament prophecy and New Testament Prophecy. This is a must read for anybody who wants to operate in the Prophetic or anybody who believes they have been called to be a Prophet. I am glad I read this book!!!
As the title of the book says, this is a simple and BASIC Bible Study on the Prophetic Ministry. If you search for more in-depth information, this book is not for you. I found this book very helpful and inspiring, because each chapter ends with questions to think about and life applications to practice in the prophetic. Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy (1 Corinthians 14:1-3).
Kris Vallotton brings wisdom and amazing insight into prophetic ministry. Hidden in this book are basic prophetic principles along with great words of wisdom in how to discern, interpret, and deliver prophetic words in a new covenant ministry setting. I highly recommend his book to every believer, regardless of the prophetic level or ability they find themselves at.
This book offers great insight of the prophetic. I'm a beginner. I've been praying about this for quite some time. Through this book I learned a lot of things that I had never imagined about the prophetic ministry. I was such a blessing.
A nice overview of the spiritual gifts with an emphasis on prophetic. Lots of biblical support. Good material for sharing with a small group (there are supporting materials as well) or in a class.
