An early one from Mary Wibberley (1973) with some of her trademark sexual tension that manifests as deep anger between the MCs but it's such a slow burn that it never catches fire. None of the characters is fully realized, either--not the 18-year-old never-been-kissed waifish heroine; not the enigmatic hero; not the secondary characters who fill such stock roles. The "love" that develops in the course of this bickerfest seems so ungrounded--the MCs don't spend much time together, fight each other and their irresistible attraction when they do, and just generally don't really seem to have anything in common other than a case of the hots. The heroine's innocence seems to draw the sophisticated 30ish hero but he has plenty of other female companionship during the course of the book (at parties mainly, as the heroine is drawn into the social whirl of island society)--it just seemed to me unlikely that this "love" is anything more than the appeal of novelty (on his part) and a teenage crush on hers.
Wibberley honed her skills better in later books, very effectively maintaining sexual tension and a hint of violence in her Harley offerings. MoS has a little of that, but I don't think MW had quite figured out how to make it work yet.

A cute traditional HQ. A young sheltered h living with her emotionally cold aunt finds out that her father’s been trying to reach her for many years. Upon her arrival she discovers that he’s a rich and successful artist and that his friends and neighbours suspect she’s a cold-hearted opportunist. Especially the richest man on the island who is the most aggravating.
Really enjoyed this one. Heroine was 19 and confused. Hero was 31 and horny. They both fought their attraction all the way until the end.
Heroine was raised by a sour aunt in England who hid her father's letters from her. Heroine finally intercepts a letter and writes back. Soon she's winging her way to the Island of Saramanca where her famous painter father lives.
She then joins the ex-pat community, going to parties, volunteering at the local school and learning to drive. She has many, many scenes with the hero and I enjoyed them all. There's a kindly neighbor who takes heroine under wing. And a viscious OW who retired from the battlefield too soon for my liking.
Just a fun vintage with excellent pacing and lots of tension between the H/h.
Jane traveled to the island of Saramanca to meet the father she had never known. But Gavin Grant suspected her motives for coming and made his disapproval plain.. "He's arrogant and overbearing, and I don't think I've ever disliked anyone quite so much," stormed Jane. Yet . . .
