I dunno. 3.5 stars? We've reached the point in the series where, as it was originally being published a chapter a month, the mangaka had been writting it for a few years. I, being in the future, can breeze through to this point in an afternoon. Plots that seemed so important at the beginning have fallen by the wayside. Wasn't the politician dad trying to force his son into a relationship with the manipulative land shark lady? What about the wacky prime minister and his re-election? Why is no one calling the building owner to arrange to purchase it?
Why is Mayaya still the dominant Amar? I'm really starting to hate her. In the first chapter of this volume, she runs in kicking, screaming, and crying. She grabs the expensive dress fabric and allegedly starts painting slogans for a protest. Instead, she makes useless signs about the Three Kingdoms. While Tsukimi looks at the signs and cries, beating herself up over what a bad friend she's been, Mayaya is in another room eating a whole, expensive fruit tart that was delivered for Tsukimi. Mayaya is never chastised, punished, or apologetic for her behavior. She is constantly selfish, rude, childish, and demanding. She's like a giant, psychotic toddler. I hope she moves away and we never see her again. Full villain for me.
I still hate the romance between Tsukimi and bro Shu. He admittedly knows nothing about her, constantly projects his fantasies of what she should be like, and then says he loves her. Barf. At least he develops a bit of personality. You can tell he's not endgame (please GOD, let Kuranosuke and Tsukimi be endgame,) but the amount of time spent on this is surprising.
it's always fun to reread things you read as a kid, or finish a series you started when you were younger.
and that's the case for princess jellyfish. i read up to the 5th or 6th book as a kid. rereading and continuing with the series has been really cool.
i remember being a kid and just wanting Tsukimi and Kuranosuke to get together so bad. I didn't want her and Shuu to get together. in fact I really didn't like his character at the time. and I used to love the other amars a lot. and in going over this series again my opinions have changed a lot. i think Kuranosuke wouldn't be a great match for Tsukimi and that she would be happier with Shuu. but her and Kuranosuke still have a really special bond. and i also don't really like the other amars too much anymore. reading them as the adults they are is very disney-adultish and honestly they can kinda bug me.
but i really do enjoy this series. i love the characters and the plot. it makes me want to keep reading for SO many reasons.
The ending to Princess Jellyfish was disappointing. It felt rushed as if the writer had reached a point where she was tired of the series and just wanted it to end. There was still so much left unresolved and the ending left something desired.
This is the final book! I had no idea and was devastated when I realized it. What a great, fun story that never takes itself too seriously. I declare this manga series a UNIVERSAL hit!!!! Dofu!!!
Still don’t know how I feel about Tsukimi and Shuu, but I LOVE Hanamori and Nisha. Hanamori is hands down the best character in this whole series. A true icon.
so i spent the past weekend reading KurageHime (Jellyfish Princess) vol. 1-9. such a cute story that really pinpoints the female geek audience. the Amars are downright hilarious, each with her own obsession (and they are each very specific and unique). our protagonist, Tsukimi is the youngest of the Amars, and a jellyfish geek. by chance she meets Kuranosuke, a gorgeous cross-dressing guy who befriends her and the rest of the Amars. it's fun to see otaku and mainstream cultures collide in this manga. definitely looking forward to reading the upcoming volumes.
I didn't think it was possible for me to equally ship two men with the heroine (let alone, BROTHERS) but my gods.... Princess Jellyfish makes the choice impossibly hard! On one hand: Kuranosuke has the deeper bond and adorable friendship with Tsukimi.... And yet, Shu is just as ridiculously awkward and naive as her and would fit her perfectly! YOU CAN'T MAKE ME CHOOSE!!
I think that this manga has been getting better and better with each volume. You just need to examine how many feels I have right now to know how good it is. I love it!
omg the way the author talks about her celeb crushes and the amars obsessions is just so real. like is everybody in this series except kuronosuke autistic including the author?! i love it!
Aww, the date :3 I confirmed it: Hanamori-san and Mamaya-san are the most hilarius characters. I'm gonna keep reading, this story is so cool in its unique way of be told.
