Wild Point Island

Rate this book
Wild Point Island, a paranormal romance, begins approximately 400 years after a famous historic event--The Lost Colony of Roanoke--and answers the question: What if the original English colonists who landed on the tiny island of Roanoke survived by relocating to another island? What if they survived by eating a poisonous plant, which transformed them physiologically into another life form, a revenant? They were granted immortality, but at a price. They could never leave the island.
Banished from Wild Point Island as a child, Ella Pattenson, a half human-half revenant, has managed to hide her true identity as a descendent of the Lost Colony of Roanoke. Now, Ella must return to the place of her birth to rescue her father from imprisonment and a soon to be unspeakable death. Her only hope is to trust a seductive revenant who seems to have ties to the corrupt High Council. Simon Viccars is sexy and like no man she’s ever met. But he’s been trapped on the island for 400 years and is willing to do almost anything for his freedom.
With the forces of the island conspiring against her, Ella must risk her father, her heart, and her life on love.

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I was given a copy of Wild Point Island from the author for review.

Ella Pattenson, a half human-half revenant, was born on Wild Point Island, as child she was banished from the island along with her twin sister and mother. Only revenants could see the island. Revenants could not leave the island without permission from the council and could only stay off the island for a short period of time or they would die.

When Ella and her family was banished from the island her father was imprisoned by the council. Ella spent her adult life trying to find away to rescue her father and make it possible for revenants to live off the island. When she makes the right antidote that will allow revenants to live off the island she returns to the island to rescue her farther.

The members of the council wants Ella's antidote so they try to blackmail her into giving it to them. They tell her they will release her father if she gives them the antidote. But Ella has not intentions of giving her up antidote on their terms. She knows the council is not being very truthful with her.

Ella meets Simon a revenant that is on her side and tries to help her rescue her father. Ella is very attractive to Simon and wants to spend the rest of her life with him. The harder she tries to help her father the more people she learns is against her and her reason for making the antidote. Ella doesn't know where or who to turn to or who she can trust including Simon. Ella is even beginning to wonder if she can trust her own sister.

I enjoy reading this story

This story is very interesting. I love the magic aspect. Love the concept of a hidden island. The romance is a fast fall hard. Can’t wait to read the next book.

The synopsis of this one completely piqued my interest. It sounded completely unique and one of a kind that I knew I just needed to try it.

And this was just that. Unique, unusual, and completely different. This one kept me wondering from the very first chapter.

At times I found myself slightly confused though about what exactly was going on, I am not sure if that is because the story and what being a Revenant meant unfolded as the story went or if it was because all through the story you just never knew who to trust. It was never clear who the good guys were and who the bad guys were and who just walked that very fine line between them both.

This was an unusual story that kept me guessing and I have to love it for that alone because truly, a story that isn't predictable and will keep you on your toes is sometimes few and far between in the novel world.

And even though I had to scratch my head and go “huh” at times and reread passages to make sure I didn't miss anything, this story was compelling and it kelp me turning the pages trying to guess what was going to happen next.

The mystery behind the people and the good guys versus the bad guys really was cleverly done. And while I never felt that connection to any of the characters that I like to have, I did find myself caring about them and wanting to know more about them.

Overall I would say this was a fun read that will keep you guessing and give you something new and interesting to read in the paranormal genre that hasn't really been done before.

I give this one 3.5 Stars!

Instinct screams you’re not alone. Fine hairs prickle the back of your neck. Your gaze scans the surrounding area, but no one is there. It’s that feeling you’re missing something that’s right before your eyes. For most of us it’s stress, lack of sleep or maybe just too much caffeine.

For Ella, it’s the fact she’s half Revenant and half human—and only Revenants can see Wild Point Island. Banished from her home on the island, she’s spent years struggling with the consequences of her genetics. The loss of her home and father push her to find a way to change things and make a difference through science. Her persistence pays off.

When Ella finds the means to help her family and others beat the condition that binds them to Wild Point Island, she asks her uncle for help in negotiating with the Council that controls the island’s population.

Unfortunately, not everyone sees Ella’s scientific advancement as a positive thing. Change can be terrifying, and not everyone has the courage to embrace it. Some want to bury Ella right along with her findings. When a Revenant named Simon steps forward to protect Ella, she is drawn to him. She has hope for a future with Simon. But unfolding events cause her to question everything she thought she knew and everyone she ever trusted.

Ms. Lutter has created a story that combines science and magic, faith and fact—and each character must deal with the circumstances these elements create. Whether one denies or embraces life’s changes, both the characters and readers experience the intrigue, betrayal and love in Wild Point Island!

Sadly, I can't give this book a good review. I wanted to like it so badly!

The Revenants are a brilliant idea...But I hated Simon. He reminded me so much of Edward (Yes, that Edward)--moody, brooding, demanding, possessive--that I cringed at every scene.
And the romance was just too fast.
Why did Ella fall for Simon immediately? Was it some kind of Revenant magic?
Only days after the first time she meets him, she's in love with him and choosing him over her family?
What?

I wish it had gone more slowly...or at least explained WHY the romance happened so quickly.

Sorry. :(

Wild Point Island is a fascinating, twisting tail in the pursuit of love.
I can't wait for a sequel. I think this intriguing and suspenseful novel would make a wonderful movie. It would be interesting to see how it would come to life on the big screen, but who would play Ella?

I love that Kate Lutter told us a tale about intrigue, deceit, and ghosts using a backdrop of the Lost Colony of Roanoke. She definately did her research and spun a tale you won't want to put down!
