I am only 3 weeks away from my due date with my first baby, so, at this point I have read all the classics that are out there about pregnancy, post-pregnancy and have a hold on the basics for baby care too. This book is probably my favorite as a reference book. What to expect when you are expecting is obviously the most recommended one, and I agree that it is a very comprehensive guide of everything that happens to baby and mom during each and every week. This book doesn't go into all that detail, because it is not as dense, it is a big book with tons of pictures and full of great trivia and information organized in little entries. Every 2 pages is a new thing about pregnancy or baby. Very informational, very visual, and even after reading dense books, one still learns new things from The Baby Book! It is expensive to buy, but it may even be a good investment, I would have loved having it as a coffee table book during all pregnancy!!
This book was great to flip through. The layout is lovely and it is full of lots of good information. I just wish that there was more variety in skin tone of the babies photographed for the book.
Good introductory parenting book— not exhaustive by any means, but full of great advice and lessons for new parents. I’ve leaned a lot for my little guy from this book. I’d recommend it for an easy to read basic introduction, but there are deeper books available for more in-depth parenting information. For what it is, the DK Baby Book is great.
This book on modern parenthood is ideal for couples who are expecting a baby. You will learn about the growth process from conception until the baby is born and turns 3 years old.
Pregnancy and childbirth mean welcoming a new person into this world. That's a greater enterprise than any president of a country can do.
The Baby Book is a guide for pregnancy, birth, and childcare for newborns through 3 year-olds. It has a beautiful magazine style layout with hundreds of color photos and sidebars containing fun facts. While none of the information is super in-depth, it provides a wonderful basic overview. The authors are very neutral and include information for the most granola to the most technocratic.
This would have easily had 5 stars if not for the bulk. Seriously. Pregnant women often read with books on their stomachs, we can't have a brick of a book there for long! And the print was often to small to keep the book on my lap while reading...
