Rate this book
Blake's the star of the football team, but he and his mum are in trouble - they can't make the rent and it looks as though they'll have to move. So when a stranger offers Blake cash to fix the match, it seems like an easy solution, right? Wrong. If Blake goes along with it, he stands to lose more than just the game. Will he do the right thing? Gripping football thriller. Particularly suitable for struggling, reluctant and dyslexic teen readers.

This was a story about football
I think that this is the first serie I have read
I actually loved this book because it was talking about my favourite sport which is football

So it was talking about a group of teenagers that broke into a football stadium and the manger was there but they had no idea so they kept on playing and the manager noticed that these boys had hidden talents and the manège wanted the boys to be on his team and win the cup and earn money !

It was a fun story
I liked how the ideas were not put all at once so that it creates tension to the reader and make Cary on and finish the story
I recommend this boook to all football fans especially from age 7-14 this is an amazing book to read !

I received a copy of this title for review from Allen & Unwin.

Ten Second Synopsis:
Blake is a star striker on his football team, but at home his mum is struggling to pay the rent. When Blake is offered the opportunity to earn some money by deliberately throwing his next match, it seems like the solution to Blake's rent problem is right in front of him.

This book is touted as "super-readable" by a helpful sticker on the back, and as a "low reading level, high interest" book, it is a great choice for struggling or reluctant readers in the YA bracket who prefer shorter reads that get straight to the action. This book is easily read in one or two sittings, with no unnecessary segues into side plots that might lessen the interest of the story overall. The characters are quite two-dimensional, given the short word count, but there is plenty of action to ensure the reader stays engaged.

The book starts with a botched getaway attempt from a midnight kick-around session in Blake's city's brand new football stadium, and from that point on, Blake is forced to make some hard decisions over where his loyalties lie. As it is so short, it's hard to drum up too much excitement over having read this book, but it does exactly what it says on the tin, which is to pitch a tale of high interest to YA readers at an easily accessible reading level for those in the target age group.

The storytelling was excellent it really captivated me i felt like I was there. When the main character felt bad or sad I felt the emotion. I am a ten year old boy and I would recommend this book to girls and boys between ages 10 and 14.Just note that there is a bit of swearing but it's nothing too bad. This review was written by my son, Harry, who borrowed this book from the library.

I really enjoyed this! I couldn’t stop reading because I wanted to find out what decisions Blake would make as I had no idea at all. I love Sophie McKenzie’s books! I thought I maybe wouldn’t enjoy this as much because it’s shorter (and I’m used to longer reads by her) but it was so good. Perfect for football fans and dyslexic readers.

I thought this book was quite interesting towards the end but could have been more exciting at the beginning! I loved the character of Blake because he tried to help his mum with the rent. I would recommend this book to 10+ and I would give it 5/5!

I really liked this book. The author kept it short and sweet but I really liked the story. It was good for a range of readers while also keeping it suspenseful and fun!
