This was a light-hearted, sexy, and sometimes funny romance about an ex-jock and a zoologist, each with hang-ups about their bodies, and fearful of taking a chance on love.

Dr. Mira Harper's a zoologist at a Denver zoo, mainly dealing with chimps. There's a special chimp named Sara that she's fond of, but since Sara is old and wants to mate with every male she sees (including humans!), her days are numbered at the zoo. The zoo administrator wants to sell her. Mira will do anything to keep Sara right where she is, because she fears Sara can't survive anywhere else. Mira's kind of a straight arrow, a self- proclaimed geek, thinks her curvy body is unattractive, and dates only fellow geeks. But she does have an asset that she acknowledges, and that is her sexy voice.

Mira's sister Dani works for ex-football star Gary Staunton as his assistant at his ad agency. A big client needs a sexy voice for their new commercial. Dani knows someone with a sexy voice--her sister!

Mira asks for Dani's help in saving Sara. Perhaps the ad agency could use it's clout and think of a way to keep Sara at the Denver Zoo? Dani agrees--but only if Mira will let her hair down and do wild and crazy things with her for a week, AND lend her sexy voice for the new commercial. Mira agrees, even if it means she'll have to work with Dani's sexy boss Gary.

Mira's had the hots for hunky Gary for some time, but he's a jock, and Mira can't stand jocks. Because of a bad experience with an athlete she dated in the past, she has a no-jock policy, thinking they're all the same.

Gary's got it bad for Mira too, even though she tries to avoid him. He thinks she's smart, sexy, and sassy, the kind of woman he'd like to have a future with. But ever since Gary had an off the field accident, his confidence with women has been shattered. The accident not only ruined his knee and ended his football career, but it also injured (to put it delicately) part of his 'manhood'. Gary thinks of himself as disfigured and 'half a man', since his shallow fiance dumped him after the accident. Now he only has one-nighters, and never lets a woman see his 'deformity'.

Dani can see that Mira and Gary are attracted to each other, so she plays matchmaker, and entrusts Gary with the job of making sure that Mira goes wild. Gary thinks he's up for the job, and even though he finds Mira mighty tempting, he knows he won't let anything come of it. He has no intention of ever falling in love or revealing his secret--he just can't take that risk again.

Mira agrees to hang out with Gary for a week as part of her deal with Dani. After all, what could happen? They have nothing in common, and even though she thinks he's very sexy, a big jock like him wouldn't want a woman who looks like her.

When these two lonely people start spending time together, the sparks fly, things heat up, and both start wondering if forever could be a possibility.

This book started out a little slowly for me, but less than half way in it started picking up steam and never quit! I loved it when Mira finally stopped waffling about her feelings for Gary and decided to go for it! And I kept hoping that Gary would finally see the light and realize that all women are not like his ex-fiancee. The man was really obsessed with, as he would put it, his deformity. I kept wanting to smack him upside the head and say "just tell her, it won't matter to her!" Gary and Mira were hot together--when they finally let down their guards things got downright erotic! There were also some pretty amusing scenes with Sara the chimp and her use of a cell phone that lightened the mood. But the main attraction for me was the hot romance between Mira and Gary. I liked how it played out and I found the ending very satisfying. If you're in the mood for a light romance with some erotic moments, and some humor, then this is a book you'll enjoy!

This is a very light yet intense read. The characters are likeable and realistic. A potentially soon to be romance with other characters in the story indicates there may be more adventures for these characters.
