The GIANT Encyclopedia of Monthly Activities for Children 3 to 6: Written by Teachers for Teachers

Rate this book
With over 600 activities, The GIANT Encyclopedia of Monthly Activities is the result of a nationwide search for the most unique, fun, developmentally appropriate, and educational experiences for children. The activities included were selected as the best-of-the-best, and are organized by month for easy use by teachers. Teachers will love the creative ideas that span the traditional areas of the curriculum such as science, math, art, and music and movement, as well as the additional experiences including field trips, cooking, and holidays. Each activity includes instructions and a list of materials, plus possibilities for extending the activity further into the curriculum. Many also include lists of related children's books to further both literacy and imaginative play. Loved by children because they're fun, and by teachers because they are developmentally appropriate, the ideas in The GIANT Encyclopedia of Monthly Activities will captivate children's imaginations and create wonderful opportunities for learning.

This is a great book to get ideas from. Most of them are geared to younger children and there's definitely a slant towards people who have had an education degree. Mostly I looked to this book for book ideas for my home school. My kids are a variety of ages, so everyone can listen to the stories, the older kids can glean facts and the younger ones simply be entertained. There are also art ideas that I can differentiate for the age spread. I would definitely recommend if you have kids 3rd grade and under and plan on studying anything from holidays to animal classification, pirates to flowers and trees.

The GIANT Encyclopedia of Monthly Activities for Children 3 to 6: Written by Teachers for Teachers is a valuable resource of ideas for year round activities to do with this age preschool children. The idea is stated clearly, with items needed for the activity listed for easy reference and then step-by-step instructions with guides for what to look out for in the process. It is a good source for last minute activities when children finish what is planned quicker than anticipated and very helpful in writing lesson plans, as it saves the teacher time.

This series of activities for kids is FANTASTIC!!! I love all the books that I own (I have 4 or 5 of them) and would love to own them all! :) I highly recommend these for any mom looking for fun things to do with her kids! They're easy, fun, learning activities with hardly any preparation! Well, some take some prep time/materials, but it's usually nothing overwhelming! Good stuff!!!!
