Astanga Yoga

Rate this book
Lino Miele, a devoted student of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, began practising Astanga Yoga in 1989, since then his practice has evoked many life changes.
In 1993 he left his professional vocation in theatre as a technical director. Now he directs and teaches with his partner Tina Pizzimenti in their "Astanga Yoga School" in Rome Italy.
Lino's dedication to his Guru and own astanga practice has led him to the challenge of recording the inner meanings and practical application of the Vinyasa system.
As a result of his efforts he has kindly produced this text to share, help and inspire his fellow astanga students.

An essential read for anyone interested in deepening their ashtanga practice.

This book contains some ashtanga background but most of the book is focused on the poses and the traditional vinyasa count.

I will definitely be referring back to this book many times I'm sure. It has more details for the primary series but also includes the poses and counts for the intermediate series.

It is for sure a great reference book for ashtanga vinyasa sequence … but it only contains breaths and counts and nothing else. I was hoping for some additional info - e.g. how to get to a pose, which actions are required to perform it to its full benefits or what are the benefits and watch-outs of the poses.

This is a manual for Asha yoga practitioners. It covers the Primary and Intermediate series, providing health benefits of the poses & detailed practical explanations (count, breathing, drishti, etc.) & pictures.
