Tedd grew up with three brothers. His family lived on a farm in Pennsylvania for several years then returned to Elmira until Tedd was ten years old. His father's work then required that they move to Gainesville, Florida. There, Tedd's first art lessons in an abandoned dentist's office over the Happy Hour pool hall eventually led to a fine arts degree from the University of Florida.

He and his wife, Carol, started their family in Tallahassee where Tedd worked as a commercial illustrator. Carol, a kindergarten teacher, drew Tedd's attention to children's books. Their first son, Walter, inspired his breakthrough picture book, NO JUMPING ON THE BED!.

He and his family now live in Elmira. His second son, William, now stars in NO MORE WATER IN THE TUB!, a sequel to his first book. He has now published over 50 books as author and illustrator.

Summary: "Fly Guys Presents: Insects" gives the reader an insight of all types of insects and multiple facts about each.

Evaluation: "Fly Guy" allows the reader to dig deep into the given subject. The book has many interesting facts with detailed illustrations. The book not only gives facts, but also ways to avoid certain bugs. It isn't just a textbook, but a story line to hook the kids.

Teaching: This book can be used while teaching about insects. Each child could choose a given "bug" and conduct more research on it. This would be a good activity to help learn about different insects, while also working on how to conduct research and make a project.

Fly Guy and Buzz are outside to learn about insects.

This was interesting. I liked that the differences between insects, bugs, and others was explained. I liked the photos showing the explanations of the differences. I could see what the differences were which I have never seen before. I liked the photos of the life cycle of an insect (a little gross but still the first time I have seen it.)

I like this series. I am learning so much that I either forgot from school or never learned.

Fly guy books are a lot like National Geographic books but they are more kid friendly, they are set up almost like a comic book and I’m sure that will catch the attention of many children. This book is all about insects and will inform children about where they live, what they do, how they eat and everything in between

I gave this book 5 stars because it’s a great book/series for kids to get into. The vocabulary and information is all very helpful and will give every kid more knowledge.

This was the most disgusting book in the entire series. I realize the series is based on a cartoon fly who likes to eat garbage, but this book was disturbing. Although I did learn not all insects are bugs. Ugh. There are things in here I can't unsee.

Summary:
Fly Guy is a great book for your science-loving kids! It's also a great way to get your students excited and interested in science. Early childhood children love to explore the outdoors and a book about bugs is a great way to get them out there. Fly Guy is about a boy named Buzz who becomes friends with a fly because the fly knows how to say Buzz's name. He names his new pet Fly Guy. Fly Guy wants to go out and explore insects and, at first, Buzz is a bit nervous because some bugs could be a little scary. However, Fly Guy convinces Buzz that there's nothing to be afraid of and they go out and learn about numerous bugs! You learn many fascinating facts about insects, even the ones that are now extinct. Some facts seem too crazy to be true and may shock you and your students! Want to know how interesting insects really can be? Read to find out!

Activity:
Bring your class outside and see what you can find! The students can bring their book out with them and use what they have learned from the book to help them. Have them try to classify what they see outside and relate it to the book. They can bring any other books that relate to Fly Guy and you can introduce them to other similar, informative books. Another activity is to get a class pet that is a safe insect. The class can name it and study it as it grows. The students can learn about topics like metamorphosis.

Great book. Very informative, but also fun. It's approachable, but also will be a good challenge for readers because of the advanced language used. Part of a very popular series. Aligns nicely with common core requirements that students read more nonfiction texts.

Fly Guy Presents Insects takes the reader into the world of insects and all sorts of interesting facts about them. The material is presented in a fun way for children to read with many fun pictures.
I liked this book and think that it told the information in a fun way for children to understand.
I think that this would be a good book to have in a classroom when talking about insects or just to have for little boys and girls who really like insects and want to find out more about them.

Another fun and educational book my son and I enjoyed. Did you know that all insects have six legs and, because of that, spiders aren't insects? I didn't. :-) Good stuff from another entertaining Fly Guy installment.

My son recently learned about insects in First Grade. This book reinforced what he learned in a way he wanted to read. That's a winner.

Another great Fly Guy book about insects! This one is neat because the fly is actually an insect and students can learn about them. They get to learn their histories, life cycles, diets, and more. Students will enjoy learning about the scientists who study insects too! Great for nonfiction instruction.
