I enjoyed this so much. It’s challenging to find American history books that present history both factually and interestingly, and that don’t have an agenda to paint America as either perfectly good or perfectly villainous. Particularly when it came to settlers and Native peoples, I felt like this explained both good and bad interactions and was honest about atrocities and dishonesty on both sides, without being too graphic for elementary students.

My family loves this book! It is wonderfully written and highly engaging. I have both an elementary school child and a middle school child, and they both enjoy our history time so much thanks to this book.
