Really not what I was expecting...ugh the art was so bad and I hate that the story seemed to focus on other people and not the title characters. Don't waste your time on this.
It was okay. I wouldn’t read it again. The storyline was weak and I didn’t like the art. The best part wasn’t even part of this story- it was the issue in the back with the first appearance of the Wolverine.
This was another interesting story Bruce Jones placed the Hulk in to get new tension out of. It is a race against the clock during a heist to get a boy antivenom from a snake bite. The way the snake bite happened was a bit easy and contrived and the way it ends was too clean as well. We did not need that extra villain and nothing came of them. I still enjoyed the ride overall.
The story isn't the greatest and the art style isn't what I typically go for but I have a soft spot for this volume. I bought a copy of this book years ago just as I was starting to get serious about collecting comics and trade paperbacks. Being a young jobless teenager (without a car) at the time, I rarely had the cash or opportunity to pick up the titles I wanted. And the time between buying books would vary. I must have read this tpb a couple hundred times, so I guess nostalgia is a factor in my rating. The inclusion of the classic issue of Hulk encountering Wolverine for the first time ever was a great bonus also. Gotta love that classic Herb Trimpe artwork. Most probably worthy of a 3-star rating...4 stars for my personal enjoyment.
