Jay Briscoe, Professional Wrestler With Ring of Honor, Dies at 38
Jamin Pugh (January 25, 1984 – January 17, 2023) was an American professional wrestler best known by his ring name Jay Briscoe. He was most known for his stint with Ring of Honor, where at the time of his death was one-half of the ROH World Tag Team Champions with his brother Mark Briscoe in their 13th reign. He was also a two-time ROH World Champion and ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champion.
Jay Briscoe's passing saw condolences come in from wrestlers working in WWE, AEW, ROH, and other firms. It is undoubtedly one of the most surprising pieces of news to come out of the wrestling industry in 2023, and we expect it will stay that way for a long. Briscoe is one of the most gifted wrestlers to have ever set foot in the ring. He has many titles and top-tier matches to his credit and has secured his position as a legend even though he was only 38 years old. Indeed, he could wrestle any sort of bout and make it a clinic at that.
Briscoe started his career in ROH in 2002 and rapidly established himself as a fan favorite, along with his brother Mark. Together, they created the tag team known as The Briscoes, and throughout the years, the brothers dominated the ROH tag team division, holding the belts several times. They were noted for their high-flying, hard-hitting style and their ability to create a riveting tale in the ring.
