Into the Myth by R.L. Weeks is a fantasy tale for teens or young adults. I loved the story but it seems to go at a very slow pace. The characters were very interesting but lacked the depth she puts in her other stories. I still liked the story, don't get me wrong, just not like her others.

Please don't waste your time on this poorly written, rambling plot, magical girl YA novel.

This YA novel is an interesting roller coaster. The main character is a teenage girl names Lily who, in the midst of high school and an absent mother, is forced to deal with death, forgiveness, love, and her own potential. None of which are easy but become harder when thrown into a situation and world you know nothing about. The story starts off great and climbs to a nice crescendo but it doesn't end where it feels like it should. Unfortunately the story goes on through what seems to be about 3 different plot peaks before reaching its conclusion. It felt a bit like many books were squished into this one novel.

Even with the storyline feeling a bit long, there are appropriate build ups. I definitely found myself finding moments at work to read more because I just had to know what happened next. The characters have some mystery but could be flushed out more. That being said, I'd love to know more about Lily's best friends. The bond there is not shown but stated to be that of best friends. In fact, except for Lily, Kyle, and Jay there is little development of character relationship shown in the story.

In the background is this enticing world of magic and myth that R.L. Weeks has created. It's teased from the beginning but the depth and breadth of the world created isn't revealed until towards the end. I really want to know just how Lily fits into all of the legends and myths of this world. This world is a huge driving force in needing to know what happens next. It's incredibly interesting and rather unique. I look forward to seeing what Lily does next and just how far the magic and legends are intertwined with her destiny.

This is an interesting paranormal YA novel. The main character Lily is a somewhat typical teenager in the sense that at times I couldn't stand her and at times my heart broke for her. Lily deals with bullying at school, a neglectful alcoholic mother and on top of that she's thrust into a paranormal world that she knows nothing about and goes through gut wrenching sadness and loss. R.L. Weeks definitely did an excellent job when developing this character. The story has interesting twists and turns and Ms.Weeks definitely did her research into the mythical and paranormal, which I really liked. I raced through the beginning but found myself having trouble getting into the middle and end of it. Every time it built up to what I thought would be the end, more happened. I felt like I was reading several novels squeezed into one. The story line is a bit long and definitely needs more background not just on the secondary characters but on some of the events as well. In my opinion there wasn't enough development of the other characters especially Lily's best friends;who had a large impact on her. I would have liked more depth there as well as with one of Lily's love interests Kyle.
Do not get me wrong though, the meat of this novel is good and has great potential. I can't wait to read what happens next in Lily's world.

Lily seems like the average girl until a series of events upsets her life. Mystical forces attempt to win her to their side as she learns more about herself and her destiny. But she soon finds that she has other things in mind then following the path set out for her.
The main thing that I loved about this novel was the plot. It took many an unexpected turn and I just couldn't put it down. I enjoyed the buildup between each climax and the fact that the book actually made sense, which some books don't.
The only things I didn't like was that there was so much information packed in and that there wasn't too closure. It felt like I was reading the book forever because it would climax and then just keep going without an end in sight. It was a little tedious towards the end. I didn't really get the closure I wanted because the book never says what happens to the friends she leaves behind. They are just forgotten, but I didn't feel like that was realistic because Lily's friends were a big part of her life. It disappointed me a little.
But overall, I really loved reading this book and I can't wait to read the next one!

Into the Myth by R.L. Weeks is an Urban Fantasy. It is filled with suspense. The twists and turns in the plot will keep you quickly turning the pages to find out what will happen next.

The main character is Lilly. She cannot wait to finish school and go to college, so she can get away from her mother. She has a few close friends and life is pretty ordinary, until Kyle a new kid at school takes interest in her. Suddenly unexplainable things start to happen in Lilly's life. The worst part is, they seem to be her fault.

Lilly is thrust into a world she didn't know exists. She is told her life is in danger and she must let go of her present and reach out to people from her past to get through it. She doesn't know which way to turn or who to trust. Will she survive?

R.L. Weeks had captured an unforgettable world in this story. I cannot wait to read what will happen next to Lilly.

I was given this book for an honest review.
Brilliant novel from a young author and I look forward to reading the next book in this story. This story was fun to read and will probably appeal more to a younger reader but I was still greatly entertained.
Lily is the main character and falls in and out a love a lot for a teen I got a bit of a head spin.
Lily's life is turned upside when she finds herself thrust into a world that she thought only existed in her books. She discovers she has magical powers which put her life in danger. This is her journey, a new life, a dad her deserted her years before, a new school and new friends. Her discovery of how powerful she is and is yet to have control over her abilities. This story will appeal to Harry Potter and the like fans I'm sure.
I rate this story highly for the pure entertainment value of the story, I was glued to my kindle and couldn't wait to see what happens next, well done.

Into the Myth is the story of a teenage girl who discovers her hidden magical abilities and sets forth on a dangerous quest to find out the truth about her father's death. Lily is thrust into a world she hadn't believed existed outside of the books she loved to read.

The storyline might sound similar to a lot of other urban fantasy novels, but it is captivating and unique in its nature. I loved the character development of Lily from the beginning to the end. Lily is a strong and sensible teenager initially, but as she discovers that there is more to this world than what meets the eye, we see her grow into a woman who is ready to take the burden of saving the world upon herself.

The story goes through ups and downs as it proceeds, and by the end, it had me gnawing anxiously at my nails. R. L. Weeks has done a great job with this first installment in the series, and I cannot wait to learn what happens next.

INTO THE MYTH is the story of Lily, a girl who grows up in an abusive home and escapes through her fantasy novels. When strange things start happening around Lily, she learns she’s a sorcerer, something she’s only read about previously. The characters weren’t as well-developed as they could have been and I alternatively liked and disliked Lily. Perhaps some back story, before dropping the readers into Lily’s story, would have been helpful. The magical world the author created was intricate and showed diligent research into the mythological and paranormal. The same attention to detail in regard to the plot would have helped tighten up the story and make it flow better. INTO THE MYTH is an intriguing story, but it would have been served well by less emphasis on the ‘romantic’ elements. INTO THE MYTH pits the power of choice against the power of destiny.

**Received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review..**

Well...at first it was hard to get into..it got started kind of slow. BUT...when I got to 20% (I think) it really started to get interesting. Lily thinks she's an ordinary 16 yr old girl...but when the new popular guy Kyle starts showing interest in her and weird things start happening she doesn't know what to think. Then one day Kyle tells her she's a sorceress. She thinks he's crazy of course. Lily is then thrown into a world were Berserkers, wendigos, magic, and other strange things exist. There's a lot of teenage drama and a little love triangle in the middle there. I am really glad I kept on and gave it a chance. I really can't wait for the next one.

Captivating Tale!!

Avid paranormal and fantasy reader Lily is trust into a world she has only dreamed of and read in books. She is told the myths are real, now she must quickly grasp this new reality, be trained to control what is within herself and try to protect those she cares about from the forces trying to destroy her. This is a masterfully written start to what promises to be an amazing series by R.L. Weeks.

This is a new author for me, so glad to have found her! She really rocked it with this book!
Lilly is the teenaged main character of this book. She is pretty much a normal high school girl with a few friends including Kyle the hot new transfer student. Her mother sucks, her step father she adores, her biological father she has never met. Unexplainable events occur that make Lilly have to leave it all behind to go live with Kyle and his hot cousin Jay. The story is full of twists and turns with plenty of surprises. The characters were rich and vibrant, some you want to just kick because they are such jerks. Very well written book.
