Not matter how good life is, most Christians thirst for something more. Although we are people of faith, many of us aren't satisfied. We long for lives that are more fulfilled, more rich, more meaningful, and more joyful. Without resorting to "have-tos," "shoulds," or "thou shalts," Treasures of the Transformed Live helps us identify our individual thirsts and shows us how to experience more than we could ask for or imagine. A great adventure unfolds when we discover the freedom, promise, and rewards that come with committing ourselves to a closer relationship with God through treasures of prayer, presence, gifts, and services. Refreshing, deep, and powerful, Treasures of the Transformed Life encourages us to dive into all God has for us and to live lives that are truly satisfying.
This book contains forty days of readings that help us realize that not matter where we are, we are all thirsty for more...the more that only a closer walk with God will satisfy. It can be read as stand alone resource, but is also a key part of the Transformed Giving Stewardship Program developed by John Ed Mathison.
I'm giving this two stars, but it's only because the first bit was helpful for me [however, not a great deal b/c I can't remember specifically and I've since passed the book on to someone else]. Beyond that, it delved far too much into the standard Protestant Christian dogma about the Church, duty, etc. I read this along with a group of women at a friend's church. Thankfully, we were able to use this book as a diving board to talk about a multitude of other, pertinent things.
I read this book during a six week study with a bible study group. The book focuses on drawing people closer in relationship as a community with God and helps one gain a deeper understanding of our individual relationships with God as well. In one chapter the author refers to another favorite author of mine, Anna Quindlen, when she says, "The thing that is really hard, and really amazing, is giving up on being perfect and beginning the work of becoming yourself."
I'm definitely owning a copy of this book. Very helpful for your personal life. Christian insight on love, loving, freedom, relationships, prayer, service. Very refreshing.
I read as part of a church study. Some was enjoyable and insightful reminders. Though I didn't get as much out if the last few sections. More enjoyed the group discussions.
