Rate this book
A remarkable, beautifully designed photographic chronicle of Canada in the 20th century, full of unforgettable moments, some famous, some not, but all unique in their celebration of Canada in the last century.

Organized chronologically, the 500 images, accompanied by excerpts from some of the century's most important and provocative pieces of writing, reveal 20th-century life from a multitude of perspectives: politics, diplomacy, economics, arts, culture, thought, immigration, sports, religion, family life, urban development, and rural expansion.

An interesting collection of pictures focused on 20th century Canada, with informative captions and interesting quotes. I found some of the pictures and themes chosen focused too much on the arts, including some very obscure artists and authors whose influence on the broader Canadian landscape outside of downtown Toronto or Montreal is doubtful. I also found some of the themes and quotes chosen leaned towards the left politically. But overall an interesting pictorial overview. A good used book sale buy.
