Can I trust a cookbook whose author believes concord grape pie is the best pie there is? I’ve made concord grape pie (not her recipe) and thought it was a ridiculous amount of work (you have to peel each grape!) only to end up tasting pretty much like I had filled a pie crust with grape jelly. But I have her Greens cookbook and have enjoyed every recipe I have made from that one.

From this one, the recipes I’ve marked to try first are Melon and Cucumber Salad with Black Pepper and Mint (from my garden!), Brown Bread (I want to try it in a crock pot), and New England Cheese Pie with Green Onions (an interesting-sounding quiche). But I’m sure I will try others too. Since I actually have concord grapes that I never know what to do with maybe I will even try the pie again if I can think of someone to give it to who might enjoy it as much as Deborah Madison does.
