i’ve never read anything faster in my life…king of wrath is in one word sumptuous. the plot, the characters, the writing…nothing was a miss and i’m so excited to see the rest of this series thrive out. 🤌🏽
Vivian is a rich, smart, bad bitch. reading through her pov was so refreshing and relatable in so many ways. she’s strong, resilient, and so compassionate it’s admirable. she comes from a family that expects nothing less than perfection while trying to adhere to their every expectations. at some points, i was like “is this author writing about me?” but that surely isn’t the case because i’m not getting my back blown out every few chapters…😝
i’m not even fucking playing sometimes i didn’t know what position they were in like was miss girl doing jumping jacks on the D?!? it was like no other and i ate that shit up.😩
anywayyys… Dante….god fuck…holy fucking shit…i can’t even put into words the havoc this dude has wreaked on my ovaries. i’d let this man gaslight me. everything that he’d do would be 10x more attractive compared to the next fictional man because he’s rich as fuck. speaking in italian, planning dates (he goes above and beyond), and becoming a better man all together…damn. there’s hot af fictional men and then there’s HIM. the character development for him was so satisfying because Vivian is wayyy stronger than me for not throwing a chair on his fucking face with all the bantering they did.🫣
oh and if there’s anything i’m going to hyper fixated on, it’s a man willing to get on his knees and beg for forgiveness. and get on his knees and beg for forgiveness he does. the groveling in this book was like no other. compared to the other groveling this author has written in previous works. this one stands out on the top imo. and the multiple JEALOUSY scenes we were spoon fed. fucking hell…the invisible leash Vivian has on Dante is NOT to be joked about. it’s the way the mere existence of Vivian makes Dante lose his fucking mind 🧎🏻♂️
this book was wildly entertaining, relatable as fuck (if you’re a child of an immigrant, brace yourselves), and a fucking tease honesty. and the sexual tension between me and the next book in this series is tangible 😮💨😮💨😮💨

DNF-ing a book in monthsss and it feels so good, so refreshing, so right because what the utter crap was this book?! sigh
Reading this book felt like going out all excited, accidentally stepping in a puddle and walking around with a damn wet sock- yes, it's that uncomfortable.
Getting to the tropes-
✔️Arranged marriage (for both of them)
✔️Forced proximity
✔️Dislike to love
✔️Insta lust/love
✔️Billionaire guy x heiress girl
✔️Interracial romance
✔️Age gap
✔️Dual POV
The tropes make it sound so good right?! Well, news flash- IT'S NOT!
Dante (of course he's named Dante) is the MMC. He is the typical arrogant billionaire guy. The author tried to present him as someone like Tony Stark, minus the Iron Man tech but Dante just came across as an ass. Even tho he has a good backstory, there is nothing to him. His personality is as bland as plain white bread.
Vivian She's supposed to be an heiress, but does she have the brains for it? Of course not. She was supposed to be Serena van der Woodsen, but she couldn't be. Although, she is much more tolerable than Dante. There's no life to her tho. Even Pinocchio who once came to life, had much more life to him.
The chemistry it's non existent. The characters see each other for the first time and Vivian feels it in her coochie and Dante's cock starts having a stroke. This is like 10 pages in to the book. Idk how many of you know this but I can't stand insta lust/love especially when it's not written well.
The way it's written is so Wattpad. I know that Ana Huang is a very distinguished author and has immense talent (from what I hear) but this was my first book I read of hers and I'm SO SO SOOOO DISAPPOINTED. I don't think I can get over the cliche dialogues she wrote. It's over the top cheesy and absolutely unrealistic, even for a fictional world.
I have the Twisted series on my physical TBR, and I honestly don't see myself reading it anytime soon. Reading King of Wrath was such a bad experience, won't recommend it to anyone. The only good thing about it is the cover.

Utterly unoriginal.
I am convinced I could have written this book myself, actually. Considering I've read these scenes, characters, and even specific phrases a million times before. She didn't even bother making it somewhat distinguishable. Ana said reuse, reduce, recycle♻️

one thing is for sure - you know exactly what you are going to get when you pick up a AH book.
is this the most original story out there? no. some elements actually feel a bit recycled from her own previous stories. but is it kind of pick-me-up readers sometimes need to forget about the real world for a little bit? yes, yes it 1000% is.
and its that consistency that will always make me pick up a new AH novel.

At first I was going to give the book 2✰, since it bored me at several points and because I think Ana Huang has found a formula that is successful and sells books and she is sticking to it. If someone had told me that I was reading the fifth book in the twisted series, I would believe it 100%. There is nothing new despite being a new series, I understand that she uses characters from previous series to attract the readers, but with at least notable differences from the previous series lol. I understand that, since Dante and Vivian are the main characters, it was difficult to separate it from the Twisted saga, but wow, at least a little bit of novelty since the Kings of Sin series is going to have 7!!!!!! Books!!!.
We follow the story of Dante Russo, CEO (like most of Ana Huang's men) and Vivian Lau, event planner of a prestigious company and daughter of Francis Lau. Our story begins when it is announced to Vivian that she is going to have to marry Dante Russo for business reasons (not gonna lie i love a Good arranged marriage). What Vivian does not know is that Dante is being blackmailed by her father, and that is why he has agreed to marry her. While Vivian tries to fulfill her duty, Dante tries to find a way to break the agreement without being harmed.
Like all of Ana Huang's books, they are very simple and quick to read, but I do have to admit that for such a short book, it seemed a little long, and the truth is that I couldn't explain why, maybe just I wasn't in the mood.
ೃ⁀➷ 𝓓𝓪𝓷𝓽𝓮 𝓡𝓾𝓼𝓼𝓸: OK. I must admit, he is my favorite of all the guys I have read written by Ana Huang, but, once again, it is not new, once again, he remains in the same formula of a possessive, authoritarian man, with money and physically perfect . The only real novelty was him being Italian which added a lot of spice to it!. That was kind of hot!! His evolution during the book is as expected: I don't want anything with anyone, I'm grumpy, I'm a man, I'm horny, No one touches what's mine, I fuck up, suddenly realize I have the iq of a brick and that I loved the girl all along. Clap clap clap!!!

I really liked her evolution as a character, although she was a strong and determined woman, not afraid to put Dante in his place from the beginning, her fear of not meeting her parents' expectations and of disappointing or disobeying them made her very inhibited. I'm not going to say much about that topic since it would be a spoiler, but I will just say that its evolution was very good.

“I'm not a toy, Dante. “You don’t get to toss me aside and pick me back only when someone else wants me.” SLAY.

Now I'm going to dedicate a small paragraph to smut, so if you don't feel comfortable with this, feel free to skip it:
I can't with Ana Huang's smut, it's super unrealistic, don't get me wrong, I don't mind the dirty sex, but she only writes that kind of smut and im like… eye roll. The man always has a broomstick size dick, of course also a sex god, how I can I forget, and the woman is always asking for it or desperate for it. Like the scene where Dante fingers her on the library was so uncalled for lmao, he just literally touches her and Vivian is instantly wet for him like… what kind of sprinkle do these girls have. ANYWAYS, sorry for the explicit rant but im like, a little bit tired.
The third act conflict, this will contain spoilers so feel free to also skip it:
I have to say that for the first time, the breakup was not ridiculous, since it is understandable that Vivian was angry and did not want to know anything about Dante and I also liked the reconciliation, it was not rushed and made more sense.
I really liked being able to see the twisted lies scenes from Vivian and Dante's point of view and I have to admit that Dante Russo and his planned dates conquered me.
Obviously I will continue reading Ana Huang because even though her books don't seem like the best things in the world to me, they are addictive lol.

Like the scene where Dante fingers her on the library was so uncalled for lmao, he just literally touches her and Vivian is instantly wet for him like… what kind of sprinkle do these girls have. I have to say that for the first time, the breakup was not ridiculous, since it is understandable that Vivian was angry and did not want to know anything about Dante and I also liked the reconciliation, it was not rushed and made more sense.
I really liked being able to see the twisted lies scenes from Vivian and Dante's point of view and I have to admit that Dante Russo and his planned dates conquered me.
Obviously I will continue reading Ana Huang because even though her books don't seem like the best things in the world to me, they are addictive lol.

major red flag when Dante poured soy sauce over his ice cream and actually at that atrocity, i knew i should have stopped.
the fact that not even the side characters and the potential future couples didn't do anything for me in this book. while everybody is salivating about Kai and Isabella, i'm side eying Dominic and Alessandra as my most anticipated couple and hope they get a book, cause i'm a whore for a good marriage-in-crisis book.
i wasn’t about to say anything at all about this book since i already hated on two other popular books, but my default mode is still being a hater and it’s time to fully embrace that part <3

a sophisticated and sexy romance that i wasn't expecting
i started reading ana huang's twisted series last year and was instantly drawn in by her writing style, like many many other readers. there was something so accessible and fanfic-y about that series that just... worked. you knew pretty quickly upon starting each book what tropes would be involved and what the character dynamics would be like. which i find so fun! but i know that isn't for every reader.
this book? is the start of a new series and i think marks a slight departure from ana huang's signature formula. and i ain't mad at it. this book follows dante and vivian who enter into a fake engagement due to ~circumstances i won't reveal here lest i risk spoiling the book~
not altogether different than Twisted Lies in terms of plot. but the execution here is the difference. the relationship between vivian and dante is much more subtle than any of this author's previous couples. i think maybe because vivian is 28 rather than a fresh college grad? but there isn't any bumbling awkwardness on the part of the heroine or OTT cheesy confessions too early on from the hero. instead you have a relationship that unfolds a little more delicately.
but fear not twisted series fans. there are enough intriguing plot moments and scorching hot sex scenes to keep your interest.
the only thing that kept this book from being a 5 star read for me was the conflict. you know early on what it will be, but i was still holding out hope we'd go in a different direction. i'm not a huge fan of deceit/lies of omission in a romantic relationship. but the grovel at the end almost makes up for it.
overall, excited to see where this series goes. and really intrigued to see who our next couple will be!

I'M IN A STATE OF SHOCK!!!
I loved this one so much!
You know what's even better than liking a book, liking a book you thought you were going to despise. Nothing beats that feeling I'm sorry.
Let me preface this by saying, in no way am I a hater of Ana Huang and her writing. I simply tried reading her Twisted Series and hated the first book. Ugh, it was such a disappointed (and I expected to lovelove it). Sounds a bit like a me problem.
Let's stop rambling and talk about KING OF WRATH.
Since y’all know what this is about (probably better than me), I won’t summarize the plot.
OVERALL THOUGHTS This book had was strong from page 1, chapter 1. I feel like Ana improved in her storytelling skills A LOT and that’s something we always love to see. My main problem with Twisted Love was the amount of PURE CRINGE I felt while reading it. I expected to cringe reading this as well, but boy was I wrong (I did like two times, but c’mon, it’s romance, that’s practically an imperative). Chapters were dual POV, nothing new, BUT, we had those chapters with both Vivian and Dante and those were so great. Their length was just perfect, and I read the totality od this book while taking study breaks. Just amazing! I would still consider this a lighthearted read, but, we also dealt with some pretty important topics. These millionaire romance books don’t often include “new wealth”. Yes, admit it to yourself, all your fav millionaire men come from generations of wealth. It was amazing how we got to experience this big change in a character’s societal status through Vivian. I also like the dynamic between our main characters, they shared so many cute moments which I enjoyed way more than the banter and smut. Them bonding over breakfast and weird snacks was so wholesome. Side characters were all great !!! (esp Kai ohhh lord that mannnnn). It’s pretty visible how Ana Huang introduced us to a whole bunch of potential leads of future books (this will be a 7 book series if I’m well informed). Also, I’m under the impression that this series is set in the same world as the Twisted series, since some characters made an appearance and some locations were mentioned. I feel like I would really enjoy that if I finished the Twisted Series (maybe someday who knows), SO TWISTED FANS WILL LOVE THIS.
VIVIAN I love this woman so much. She’s a woman of class and behavior! She deals with problems in her life with so much class, I envy her manners. At the same time, she’s this badass strong independent woman, sometimes impulsive and headstrong in her ideas. BUT ALSO, she’s not afraid to show EMOTION (both love and disapproval). The way she stood up to people who tried to put her down, APPLAUSE! I also lovelove the way her physical appearance was described in her but esp Dante’s chapters. Such a good protagonist, will she be a fav from this series?? (can I calm down)
DANTE He is the reason I gave this book 4 and not five stars. Yeah, gotta admit, I’m not Dante’s biggest fan. I don’t often fall for men in books that easily (is this a me problem again lol), I don’t normally like the big possessive jealous ((alpha)) man. He was that type (in his core, not that much). Yes, he gave me the ick a few times. BUT, I love him with Vivian so much. I love how he gave up on his headstrong and impulsive characteristics for her. You could really see him learn to love her STEP BY STEP. CHEF’S KISS
SPICE is something I’m not the biggest fan of when it comes to Ana Huang. She writes cute moments much better in my opinion, BUT in this one, those scenes were much much better than in Twisted Love (I keep comparing those SORRY). The limo scene had me on my knees, if you’re thinking about reading this, read it for that scene plspls

Ava Huang writes a very specific type of book.
It’s always the same story but in different fonts, guy claims ‘not to like’ the girl, then some time passes and as it does the man becomes even more obsessed with them, lines such as: ‘don’t touch her, your mine, I would kill for you’ excetera excetera make an entrance and it makes the girlies go crazy. And I’m not gonna lie, I am one of those girlies.
Although Ana’s writing may be the same, I still love all the love interests.
I don’t know if there is just something about a rich powerful man who would bow at your knees if you said so.
I love when men know their place.
Dante Russo would literally kill for Vivian, in fact he nearly did. He was obsessed with everything about here and I was here for it.
And their little weird snacks that they shared was so cute, as he opened up to Vivian and showed who he really was underneath that business persona. And underneath that was someone who cared and did sentimental shit for Vivian.
Love how the standard is on the ground.
I love a gentleman on the streets but a devil in the sheets and that’s what we damn wanted and we damn got it all right.
Because those smut scenes and those ‘good girls’ had me weak at the knees.
But the fighting had me tired, like sure it is an arranged marriage but I hated when he shut her out and didn’t know any emotions. That's such a turn off for me.
Overall, this book was okay, it wasn’t a masterpiece by any standards but it was enjoyable.

I read the back of Ana Huangs books and I’m like “omg this is just my thing🤭🤭” and then I read the book and get nothing that I wanted. The first 10% were fun and then everything moved so fast making it unrealistic, boring and weird and then it became interesting again for me when it hit like 75% (not me enjoying the story when they are about to break apart 💀💀💀)
Let me just get straight to the point
No hate to anyone 🫶 If you did like this book that’s totally fine, everyone’s taste is different 😊 you don’t need to agree with me
→ The book moves wayyyyy too fast- he was already tracing her lips and shit after they just met 1 chapter ago and during the third meeting my boy had his hand around her throat talking about “do you understand” or sum shit- Dante, we are only 15% in the story, chapter 6, SLOW DOWN
Plus, you don’t even know the women so why in the world would you put your hand around her throat- it was so random, quick and just not fit in the situation. It was so awkward to read
→ He just randomly put his hand on her thigh somewhere in the beginning like pls don’t 😃😃😃 if you do that again, I will pull a Christian move on you- but no seriously, I don’t like it when characters just randomly touch the main character like that. I had the same issue with twisted lies when Christian just randomly gave Stella a 3 second kiss and put his hand on her thigh- consent should always be a thing and it can be given in multiple ways. Don’t just randomly have your characters touch each other like that. Where in the world is the progress and consent ? It’s all just unrealistic
→ It moved sooooo fast ONCE AGAIN like he was literally **** her 33% in IT WAS SO AWKWARD. Their relationship had not progressed at all what, again, made it unrealistic and awkward and then they just continued with their life
→ Apparently Dante is a very secret guy who keeps his shit to himself and doesn’t smile and stuff and yet he was telling Vivian half his life story before we even hit the 40% mark💀💀 okay Dante “bad boy I don’t talk about my problems” 🙄🙄
→ It. Was. Boring. Why? Because. It. Moved. Too. Fast. That was the whole problem of this story- if it didn’t move so fast I would maybe have enjoyed it
→ The second to last smut scene (or last idk) was….. just awkward. I’m sorry I can’t stop laughing 😭😭😭 I don’t want to say too much about it, but it was random and once again not fitting in the story. Yk she was trying to make it hard for him and taking it step by step- doing what you guys did is not taking it step by step🧍♀️ slow burn is what this book was missing. It feels like that scene was just put there to give the people more smut but I don’t think people that like reading smut want to see it during scenes where it is not needed & weird (but taste differ obviously).
I want emotional, raw and real emotions and all of that (it was there at the end! But I needed it a little longer and stronger).
The smut, whether you read it or skip it, just takes you out of the emotional state you were in bc, obviously, it brings up a different vibe.
→ There was less smut than in her other books what I personally really liked. Less smut means less skipping for me, but they were very random at moments
→ Their fights in the beginning made me laugh, sometimes
→ the “hello, I’m Dante” thing at the end was cute 🤭
Conclusion: this book needed more slow burn, in everything

Let’s give Ana another chance
I read the back of Ana Huangs books and I’m like “omg this is just my thing🤭🤭” and then I read the book and get nothing that I wanted. The first 10% were fun and then everything moved so fast making it unrealistic, boring and weird and then it became interesting again for me when it hit like 75% (not me enjoying the story when they are about to break apart 💀💀💀)
Let me just get straight to the point
No hate to anyone 🫶 If you did like this book that’s totally fine, everyone’s taste is different 😊 you don’t need to agree with me
→ The book moves wayyyyy too fast- he was already tracing her lips and shit after they just met 1 chapter ago and during the third meeting my boy had his hand around her throat talking about “do you understand” or sum shit- Dante, we are only 15% in the story, chapter 6, SLOW DOWN
Plus, you don’t even know the women so why in the world would you put your hand around her throat- it was so random, quick and just not fit in the situation. It was so awkward to read
→ He just randomly put his hand on her thigh somewhere in the beginning like pls don’t 😃😃😃 if you do that again, I will pull a Christian move on you- but no seriously, I don’t like it when characters just randomly touch the main character like that. I had the same issue with twisted lies when Christian just randomly gave Stella a 3 second kiss and put his hand on her thigh- consent should always be a thing and it can be given in multiple ways. Don’t just randomly have your characters touch each other like that. Where in the world is the progress and consent ? It’s all just unrealistic
→ It moved sooooo fast ONCE AGAIN like he was literally **** her 33% in IT WAS SO AWKWARD. Their relationship had not progressed at all what, again, made it unrealistic and awkward and then they just continued with their life
→ Apparently Dante is a very secret guy who keeps his shit to himself and doesn’t smile and stuff and yet he was telling Vivian half his life story before we even hit the 40% mark💀💀 okay Dante “bad boy I don’t talk about my problems” 🙄🙄
→ It. Was. Boring. Why? Because. It. Moved. Too. Fast. That was the whole problem of this story- if it didn’t move so fast I would maybe have enjoyed it
→ The second to last smut scene (or last idk) was….. just awkward. I’m sorry I can’t stop laughing 😭😭😭 I don’t want to say too much about it, but it was random and once again not fitting in the story. Yk she was trying to make it hard for him and taking it step by step- doing what you guys did is not taking it step by step🧍♀️ slow burn is what this book was missing. It feels like that scene was just put there to give the people more smut but I don’t think people that like reading smut want to see it during scenes where it is not needed & weird (but taste differ obviously).
I want emotional, raw and real emotions and all of that (it was there at the end! But I needed it a little longer and stronger).
The smut, whether you read it or skip it, just takes you out of the emotional state you were in bc, obviously, it brings up a different vibe.
→ There was less smut than in her other books what I personally really liked. Less smut means less skipping for me, but they were very random at moments
→ Their fights in the beginning made me laugh, sometimes
→ the “hello, I’m Dante” thing at the end was cute 🤭
Conclusion: this book needed more slow burn, in everything

This was the most coochie-throbbing, panties-dropping, knee-trembling, bedsheet-gripping, mind-boggling, reality-defying, heart racing, spine-tingling, reading experience I've ever had! 😍
Ana Huang deserves her ass ATE! 😝For nothing more than giving birth to this book and bringing it to existences🙂↕️. THIS book right here??!!, THIS is how you write an arranged marriage and forced proximity that'll make your toes curl, your soul leave your body and your heart race. The plot, the characters, the writing – everything was pure gold. I knew I'd enjoy it, but I didn’t know I’d end up loving it to the point where I’d want to make it a permanent part of my being.
Vivian was honestly the real MVP of this story. Her POV was like a breath of fresh air to me. it was so relatable on so many levels, I felt that I related to her struggles so much, especially with facing family expectations and trying to be this perfect obedient daughter. I found myself underlining alot of things in this book because I saw a piece of myself in her journey, and it was incredibly touching to see her overcome challenges and grow as a character. Ana Huang really wrote her character with such depth and emotional honesty and I love her for that.💕🫂

This was a win. This was a fuckin’ win! 😍
Dante and Vivian? In LOVE with them.
Her friend group? Adorable! Hilarious! I hope they all get their own stories.
The men?! Dante, Luca, KAI? A damn treat they were, omg. 🤤
Christian making an appearance was also a highlight!
This story was a lot more cohesive and tighter than her Twisted series. I enjoyed the balance. I loved who Vivian was as a person. Someone with fuckin’ integrity!
Then Dante comes along and submits to that. Well, as close to submission as you can get with someone like him.
By the end I was just so proud of her. 🥹
Their relationship was rocky to say the least. But I enjoyed every second of seeing them both fall into it. It was so good! 😭

𝗗𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲 𝗥𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗼 is an arrogant billionaire CEO, who has never even thought about marriage before, simply because he didn’t want to get married. But then Francis Lau steps into Dante’s office, and blackmails Dante into marrying his daughter Vivian Lau. Obviously Dante will do everything in his power to destroy the evidence Francis blackmailed him with, but Dante needs to be patient and play the long game.

𝗩𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝘂 works as an event planner, she comes from a new money family. Vivian’s parents has always been on her back about getting married. But Vivian didn’t think they would actually arrange a marriage between her and Dante Russo, the man she’s only seen once at an event she planned.

While Dante and Vivian had their sweet moments together, I felt like I needed to know more about them together as a couple. There was always something in between them. E. g. Vivian’s ex Heath, Dante ignoring Vivian, they were mad at each other and both to stubborn to give in etc…
I just felt like the smallest conflicts, took way more space than necessary. I would’ve loved to see more genuine scenes between Dante and Vivian, where they weren’t having sex, because Vivian’s ex shoved up, or because Dante was in the groveling era, and finally communicated. I just kinda needed a scene where I could feel their genuine connection before everything went down and that didn’t come.

How many times have I read this same story, but with a different title and by a different author? millions. Will that stop me from reading it one more time? NEVER!!
In all honesty, Dante and Vivian are nothing more than your generic brand of arranged marriage but also hard proof that some trope combos work even without a hard thought never-seen-before blow your mind kind of plot, aaaaand... I'll leave it up to you if that's a good or bad thing.
I'm being lazy when it comes to reviews, but here are some thoughts to put my two braincells to use:
— I liked Vivian (except when she was in front of her parents, but that's maybe because I don't understand that kind of upbringing and I've never been there, and so I especially celebrated when she finally decided to talk back to her father).
— DanteChristian Alex Russo... those millions mean nothing if you can't buy a good personality with it!! I'm honestly a little disappointed that all these billionaires club characters are just copies of each other, and don't have a single original thought,
like what in the LJShen is this??

yes I KNOW she just announced this series but i already have some ideas about possible characters!! this is definitely Dante Russo's book because billionaire and CEO of a luxury conglomerate, duh. but what about the football player (can't remember his name) in twisted games and twisted hate, is he a possible candidate for this series too? and Magda? i don't know who she is but Christian was in charge of her and set her up with bodyguards but she went missing with no clues... i feel like she could be a main character too!! ok, that's enough of a gut feelings dump for today i think
In all honesty, Dante and Vivian are nothing more than your generic brand of arranged marriage but also hard proof that some trope combos work even without a hard thought never-seen-before blow your mind kind of plot, aaaaand... I'll leave it up to you if that's a good or bad thing.
I'm being lazy when it comes to reviews, but here are some thoughts to put my two braincells to use:
— I liked Vivian (except when she was in front of her parents, but that's maybe because I don't understand that kind of upbringing and I've never been there, and so I especially celebrated when she finally decided to talk back to her father).

LOVED IT!! This is probably my new favorite Ana Huang book. King of Wrath is hot and fantastic and I could nottt stop reading it. It's got an arranged engagement/marriage!!! AND it's such a good enemies to lovers romance too. Dante and Vivian hate each other (which you might've gotten from Twisted Lies), but they've been forced into an engagement neither of them wants. He's being blackmailed by her father and she's agreed out of duty to her parents. She moves into his house for the engagement, they have to pretend to be lovey-dovey to the public, and SPARKS FLY.
During this year-long engagement, Dante works (with Christian) to do everything he can to get rid of the blackmail and destroy Vivian's father... all the while slowly, reluctantly falling for his fiancée. The romance was so much fun to read – the way these two opened up to each other, connected over their pasts, helped each other with the little things, and FINALLY fell into bed together was well-written and perfectly paced.
There's also two of my favorite things here: a jealous, possessive hero, and GROVELING! A beautiful combination, if I do say so myself. The groveling wasn't quite to the extent of Twisted Love lol but I still loved to see it.
If you're a fan of the Twisted series, you won't be disappointed with King of Wrath. This brand new series is already off to a great start and I can't wait for more!

but want to know what I did get?
➣ a carbon copy of Alex Volkov and Ava Chen.
➣ barely any plotsame plot of twisted love different tropes
➣ miscommunication we love to see it😍🔪
➣ I didn’t feel development at all
➣ I WAS MORE INTERESTED WITH THE SIDE CHARACTERS FFS that’s how bored I was.
➣ unpopular opinion? I waited for the big third act conflict to happen. I NEEDED ACTION like what we had in the twisted series and all I got was break up and a disowning😐 I’m sorry you got disowned but I need someone to get killed or something!?! if I got that I would have ate that shit up-

*ೃ༄ Now look the plot actually had potential to be very interesting and dramatic. It revolves around Vivian, a heiress to a billion dollar company or smthing who's family have very high expectations of her. One expectation that they have is to marry the arrogant, old money billionaire Dante Russo which she agrees to do out of duty and obligation. What she doesn't know is that Dante is desperate to discover Vivian's father's dirty secrets, and whilst she's falling for him he's just using her as a pawn for his ulterior motive.
*ೃ༄ This shit could've easily been sooo dramatic with murder, politics, lies, deceit but nooooo Ana Huang just had to write this shit to be as boring and stale as mouldy, white bread! GOD WHY CAN'T DARK ROMANCE AUTHORS FOCUS ON THE PLOT DEVELOPING AS WELL HUH?!?!! Like these motherfuckers should be bringing on the dramatics, the genre lets you write about soo much as well, hand over the THREATRICS isn't that what rich people are good at?! GIVE ME AFFAIRS, TAX EVASION, EXPLOITATION! GIVE ME SCHEAMING, ROBBING BANKS FUCKING PONZI SCHEMES, GOD JUST GIVE ME MORE THAN THIS SHIT!
The author could've written me 'Elite' level drama for this story, angst, pining, sexual tension, waay more planned out betrayals - instead it's like if 'Dhar Mann' directed a 2012 Wattpad story.
*ೃ༄ Vivian Lau, girls a NYC heiress and instead of giving 'Blair Waldorf', she's boring, old 'Venessa'. I could not tell you one meaningful personality trait that she has except for the fact that she loves her family; that's not a character arc, we all do that. This girl cannot properly communicate for shit and has very bad decision making skills (lowkey me too), like if you're in a shop being robbed my armed men, get the fuck down like you're told, 9/10 times they only want the stuff not you.
I wish she was written with more depth because I felt no fucking connection with her at all, I just did not care about any of her issues or problems, she felt like some random stranger who's conversations I'm eavesdropping on in the bus. A good story would make it feel as though the MC is a very close bsf, and I didn't feel that with Vivian at all.
But yk what? I can't hate her because I imagined her to be very beautiful in my head which is why I rated his higher than it should be. I guess pretty privilege wins again.
*ೃ༄ A potato actually has more disposition and depth than Dante Russo. He was lowkey hot though, but that doesn't matter when the rubber duck sitting on my desk could hold a more meaningful conversation. If money means being a boring old bitch than strip me of my material wealth, for I'd rather live with my character and charm.
*ೃ༄ I won't lie, there's more sexual tension between me and eating my sister's hazelnut chocolate croissant, than there is between the main couple. Sorry this should've been a slow burn, with pining, lots and lots of mutual longing and not even a meaningful (not fake) handhold until like the 400 page mark. Urgh authors cannot write good sexual tension anymore, I'm gonna have to rewatch Bridgerton Season 2 to feel better.

And if they do have an affair, it's a one time thing and definitely nothing emotional.

If I had to rate this book on a scale of 1 to 10 based on how much I enjoyed it, it would a solid 8.
I don't know what's happening but lately, books are just not working out for me 😔 Not a single book, no matter the genre. I miss that thrill or that happiness I feel each time I pick up a book.
But comparatively, this book really kept me hooked throughout.
But I still wouldn't give it a higher rating because first, I didn't feel as connected to the characters or cared about them as much as I should've and secondly, this is my fifth book by Ana Huang and by now, I've noticed a similarity that follows in all her books. How each book has a different conflict and it comes to play in the last 80%. It pretty much makes all her book predictable and idk at this point, I just want something NEW from her.
But still, I love this author and her books never fail to entertain me, that's for sure.
Maybe it's the slump season idk because I have noticed so many of us are in one right now 😭😭 I'm not completely out my slump yet either but progress has been made 👍
