I liked this one just slightly less than the first two. The entire series is amazing. I wasn't expecting such a lesson in history nor such spiritual insight. The reason why this one gets a lower rating from me than the other two is that it really rides only on one character, and I missed the other two leading characters from the first two books. Other than that, a very good book and a wonderful series.

Contains a lot of interesting information about the society and economy of post-USSR Russian and Ukraine. Also some helpful writings on salvation, denominational differences and working past them, and the Christian walk. The story almost gets lost among the research. I did enjoy learning what I did.

Great climax

This novel is a great climax to a timely and fascinating series of books about what has been happening in eastern Europe since the collapse of communism. Loved the way Bunn weaved his faith seamlessly into the plot.

3.5 stars. There wasn't as much action/suspense as you might think considering the plot. I was interested in the educational bits about Russia and Ukraine, as well as the theological discussions of the various churches.

This is the 3rd book in the series. It is a mix of history and intrigue. I was a little disappointed with the ending, I felt like it left lots of loose ends.

It is interesting to follow the growth of faith of several characters in this book, especially in Eastern Europe around WWII,

This whole series was amazing. The stories and the faith shared through this fictional gem is just so needed today. I'm so glad I own this series and plan to recommend to so many friends.

An easy read, narrative weak and plot predictable, but paints beautiful landscapes of countries and people. Made me want to go see the places in the story. Interesting characters. An American goes to work for Polish Survivor in London, becomes prodigy in the London antique-dealership who finds adventure as he travels deep into post-soviet Eastern Europe searching for antiques. Could do without the religious-faith narratives.

It took me forever to get this book done, but that is absolutely no reflection on the book itself. If you want to start this series, make certain you have access to all 3 books! Besides the amazing history behind the countries and treasures involved in the story, there is a testament to the tenacity of people long oppressed and an unwavering faith that emerges in the face of hardship.

Wonderful storytelling and extensive research went into this series.

Fascinating...as is everything about the Romanovos'...very interesting especially in light of Romania's recent claim of stolen artifacts showing up in our museums...

End of a good series. A bit long on Russia (didn't enjoy so much).
