Angie Picard, struggling to hold on to her faith, is tested when a young girl and her father come into Angie's life whose needs are greater than her own and she must see if her love and faith can help them triumph over sorrow and loneliness
What a great story about faith, family and those we consider friends. I tho k it was a perfect Christmas book even tho it was not a Christmas story.
I enjoyed the story. I liked the characters. The story showed growth and change in the characters. We understand so much of what happens when you loose someone you love. It hard. Instead of turning away from faith and God, we should turn towards him. He will get us through it. This book is an example of just that.
I loved it was not a modern story but one of faith and a time when people and times were not so complicated by all the new controversy. It does take place before the Second World War and in the foot hills of the mountains. In a time when people gathered in support of others. With a simple message.
Only took a few hours to read, and was well with the read.
I absolutely loved this book but wanted it to continue. It was given to me at a particularly poignant and good time in my life as 2020 and so many other things are up in the air. I am thankful. It was insightful and made me think a lot about things in a way that I hadn’t thought about before. I will read it again and dive in deeper.
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and the publisher.
The Music Box isn't your traditional romance--not a single hug or kiss passes between the couple--but it's a true romance. The characters shine, delving into issues that normally aren't dealt with in a romance. I love how this book rounds out my enjoyment of the author. If you've read his other books, this is a must read.
This was a well written book and a short enough story to make it easy to get through the book during a busy summer. I loved the setting and the teacher's willingness to help a new pupil. It turned out to be an even better story for the teacher and the girl when the teacher and the girl's father became romantic.
This book had grief, betrayal, and most of all how faith can see you through those things. It was a good short book, but I did have a little trouble connecting with the characters especially in the beginning. By the end, the characters were very warm.
I enjoyed this book and story line a whole bunch. It was a little slow in some places, but the story line came through well.I loved all the characters and would recommend anyone to read it.
Carson and Angie are both broken-hearted. Through his daughter, Melissa, they work through their fears and hurts. With God's wonderful timing and guidance, happiness comes to both of them.
This was such a sweet little book. I finished it in one sitting because, as always, Bunn drew me in from the first chapter. I quite enjoyed the main characters' bonding over music.
A sweet little book that was a very nice recovery book after finishing the entire Throne of Glass series, lol! Super humble and heartfelt, faith based characters and 1950s country town setting.
Bunn once again creates a fictional story full of truth and wrapped in wonder. Our God is the God who heals and calms storms and grows us into His image.
This story was truly surprising. I checked it out from the library on a whim and I'm glad I listened to my whims! The author so masterfully drew me in to the characters, although at first I didn't understand Angie's strange ways. Read this book, you will enjoy it and your heart will lighter! Also, you will need tissues for Chapter 8.
I liked it, except that I thought it was a little syruppy (yes I know that's not a word). It just seemed like at any given moment the characters would start pouring their hearts out to people they didn't even know.
I really liked this book. It not only had a good message in it (don't ever give up) but it was just a good story. Davis Bunn writes some of the best stories. He's definetely one of my favorite authors.
A nice short book, and an easy read. Heartwarming and sweet, with an utterly charming setting. A little heavy-handed on the Christianity to be appealing to the masses, in my opinion. Didn't find it particularly inspirational or comforting; just a nice little story.
A book of finding the will to go on after a death of a loved one. The people,a teacher, daughter, father. Must learn to let the past go and move on with their life. With God's help, let see if they can and what will they find if they do?
I love stories if faith and this one was perfect. I felt all the hurt of the main characters and felt restored with their constant faithfulness. I didn't want it to end.
What a delightful story. Lots of sharing of loss and pain and discovering God's healing power. It's a quick read but full of wonderful truths and reminding us that God is good...His love never fails.
this was an awesome book really moved my heart made me cry gave glory to God and a clear plan of salvation i like to read it when i am in a sentimental mood short book about a days read
