He thought he saved the day. Never has he been so wrong …
Detective Noah McNeil rescued a young boy from a madman and returned him home safe to his single mother. But it doesn’t feel like a win. Something is very off with now twelve-year-old Danny Merlot. Noah can feel it in his gut, but the kid has shut him out. As for the kid’s mother, she fascinates Noah, but he’s a constant reminder of the worst days of her life. The first time they met, he was helpless to protect her and her children. This time around, he’ll fight for them with everything in him.
Elizabeth Merlot can't afford to let Detective McNeil close to her. He sees everything. Her secrets, if revealed, are deadly. But when her son tries to fend off an attack, her entire world crumbles. Noah may be the only person who can save their lives.
Don't miss the exciting conclusion to the McNeil Brother’s family saga!

An awesome ending. Detective Noah is superb at his job and perhaps there’s romance in the air for him. I couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait for more books by this author. This review is based on a digital advance copy received by the author.
What a fantastic finale to this series! Maryland Stare Police Detective Noah McNeil meets his Happily Ever After in Elizabeth Merlot and her children Erin and Danny. Their road to that HEA was filled with danger. The suspense in this story was palpable. A definite page-turner. I loved everything about this book, the characters, the storyline, the conflict and resolution and the true sense of family. I will miss the McNeil family!
Courage, love, loyalty, and constancy are bedrock values of the MacNeil family. Combine those traits with dangerous, threatening villains and you have an action packed Nancy Weeks romantic thriller! Noah is determined to protect Danny and his family and to end the Mendoza tyranny at the same time. In the Shadow of Vengeance is a great ending for this Shadow & Light series! I reviewed an Advance Reader copy of this book.
I really enjoy Nancy's books. They hold your attention right from the start to the end. Her characters are always interesting.....plenty of action and heartfelt moments as well!
It is so awesome to see Jared get his in this book! I LOVE THIS SERIES!!!! Nancy Weeks hit a home run with the McNeil family. In this book, we see the aftermath of the Mendozas crime family saga that we saw the McNeils family brings to their knees. I am not mad at Jared and Josh (McNeil twins), who fall in love with the women in the midst of the storm. Though in this and previous stories, Jared is working that out. The women in their lives show the strength and intelligence that we want to see in our heroines. It is raw and feels real. Elizabeth gave up so much to keep her family safe. That past is coming back to haunt her. How she comes to trust Jared (and herself) with the past makes this story intensely intriguing and engaging. As with the other books in the series, the characters are endearing and engaging. Their circumstances feel real, and they are very relatable based on what the author shares about their personalities. I love Elizabeth and Jared as a couple and have from previous books in the series. They are a perfect match! I want so much more from this series as I envision a television series based on the McNeil family...just saying.
Like the others, this book is filled with drama, action, suspense, mystery, betrayal, romance that we saw coming, and adventure! It is worth the read as all of the books in this series! I can't wait to see what is next!!!!!!! I love it!!!!!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This series has been great. I love the family dynamic; these brothers are unique and you can't help but care about them. The characters are outstanding, very well rounded. The plot is engaging full of thrills, suspense and romance. Noah and Elizabeth finally get their story and it wraps up the series.
These books don't have to be read in order but it increases your understanding and history. Nancy C. Weeks was a new author to me before I started this series. Now she is is on must read list. Her books have basic plots but it the character twists that make them unique. This book is the perfect wrap up.
How else dose one start out a thriller/suspense story than with a murder and chase scene? And that was how this one started. But how that first chase ended, well that blew me away. That was just the first chapter. This book didn't give much time to catch the breath. Lots of action going on. Lovely conclusion though. So glad I continued reading this series.
I stepped in the middle of this series and, while it was a bit difficult sorting out the players at first, I understood pretty quickly and then really loved the book. Great characters. Plenty of action. A thrilling, really enjoyable read.
I received an ARC copy of the book in return for an honest review.

This is the 5th book In The Shadows series and this is Elizabeth Merlot abd Dective Noah McNeil's story. She has a babe in arms and one on the way, she witnesses what she shouldn't have and now she’s in witness protection. Detective Noah McNeil, is the man who is protecting her and is willing to put himself between her and danger, now you have a very absorbing, fast-paced read from beginning to end. As with all the books other books in the series you are in for one hell of a ride! Well done
Oh, how I love the McNeil brothers! I've loved this series since Book 1 released. I've been waiting for detective Noah McNeil's story for eternity - well, maybe not that long, but let me just say, it was so worth the wait. The whole series is smart, sexy and full of crazy suspense. In the Shadow of Vengeance can be read as a stand alone, but what I found fun is how Nancy has woven in suspense, a little paranormal, and a diabolical mad man (and he is pure evil) and of course love into each McNeil brother's story. It's nice to see how this family comes together for each crisis (and there are several), and the brothers and their heroines are so flippin smart. (I want their surveillance toys!)
I was wondering how she could top Books 1 and 2 that both have crazy heart pumping "Oh my God, that didn't just happen" scenes, but she certainly did this time introducing a human organ harvester (whoa!), a strong heroine (Elizabeth Merlot) in the witness protection program to protect her and her kids from said harvester, and forty eight hours of non-stop action. The romance between Noah and Elizabeth sizzles and the heartwarming ending not only wraps up this story, but a lovely way to end the series. Highly recommend!
Some characters from previous books continue their story in this book so you may want to read this series in order.
This is an exciting book that starts with a newly pregnant mother going to tell her husband that they are expecting again. She finds him doing something abhorrent and illegal.
13 years later, we find her with a new identity and two kids - and when her son is attacked, she needs to accept help.
This is an exciting book that you need to read to the end.
I really love Detective Noah McNeil. He’s the kind of guy you want in your corner when faced with insurmountable odds. This book is another face paced, rollercoaster ride of suspense and romance. Loved it.
Elizabeth Merlot is the mother of a troubled teen that originally appeared in In The Shadow of Evil. Their lives are in danger and Noah is having trouble getting Elizabeth and her son to open up enough to tell him what they’re so afraid of. There is something about Elizabeth that Noah can’t resist, but she keeps pushing him away.
In a witness protection program, Elizabeth and her son and daughter are in constant fear because they are on a criminal families hit list for. But when her son is attacked by a gang, all her secrets begin to unravel and cornered she can do nothing but accept Noah and his family’s help.
Love it! Boy-howdy has Elizabeth Merlot ever gotten herself into a world of hurt. With a babe in arms and one on the way, she witnesses the unthinkable and voila, she’s in witness protection. Throw in hunky Detective Noah McNeil, a man willing to put himself between her and danger, and a dash of the supernatural, and there you have it – an absorbing, fast-paced read from beginning to end. As with all the books in the- In the Shadow of- series, you are in for a well-written, absorbing adventure. Well done
