Oh my gosh spicy and so amazing! I don’t think I would have seen Ian and Sascha and JD getting what they wanted at the end! I love the story and I love the fact that there is a story with the spice and it’s not just straight up spice. The stiff lawyer and the former hockey player love the same girl and get the relationship to work. Loved it!

Thanks to NetGalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a new-to-me author, and I enjoyed this book very much. Unfortunately, there were a number of grammatical errors that bothered me, but mostly it was easy-to-read, enjoyable, and the sexual scenes were HOT! I liked that the author led the reader to look at the relationship between the three of them. Yes, there were some sexy scenes, but not overly many. Instead, the book was much more focused on how each character reacted to the situation rather than having them jump right into bed. For instance, Sasha had to work through her job issues before committing. Ian kept a lot of his thoughts in his head before sharing, but then he'd wonder why the others didn't know what he was thinking. And JD felt insecure a lot of the time, so he'd appear needy and high maintenance. Each of them had issues to work through on their own in order to fully commit to the relationship, and I thought it was very interesting to watch their struggles and root for their success. All in all, a very interesting book that I enjoyed.

Recovering from heartbreak, Alexandra aka Sasha, finally has interest in another man. Just when she becomes attached, she learns her prior lover is his brother. She loves them both, and they both love her in return. How do three people so deeply connected make things work? The answer doesn’t come easy. They are pushed to the limits of sexual comfort and personal sacrifice while balancing careers, friends and everything life throws at them. They discover what communication means, how to love and set boundaries. Most of all, they learn whether a three-sided relationship is possible.

In this erotic romance, every reader can relate to some aspect of each of the three main characters, which makes this a compelling read for any romance junkie. I found myself wanting to know what happens next, yearning for what Ian wants, hurting with Sasha over her career, and thoroughly enticed by JD’s free spirit. I highly recommend this book! It is so much more than an erotic romance.

I really liked this book!

“Overruling Judgement” is a captivating novel that explores the boundless possibilities of love, the complexities of human relationships and career/personal life balance! I usually like books that make me question societal expectations and this one does just that!

I liked the connection between the main characters (all 3 of them) but I wish there had been more development in their history, to know more about their past, but overall it's a good novel, with a bit of drama mixed in, but it's an easy read. I would definitely recommend this book to other romance readers.

And really important: right now I just want to go to Chicago and understand all the fuss about the Chicago pizza!

Overruling Judgment by Liz Ellyn delves into the captivating realm of polyamory, a romance trope that has gained significant momentum in recent years. This enthralling novel aims to seize the essence of this popular trope and succeeds admirably. Our protagonist, Sasha, finds herself unexpectedly entangled in a relationship with not just one but two remarkable men. Although she never intended for this situation to unfold, circumstances lead her to inadvertently fall into this unique dynamic. The two men, JD and Ian, happen to be brothers, adding an intriguing layer of complexity to their shared connection.

The true strength of this book lies within its skillfully crafted erotic scenes. These intimate moments are depicted with great finesse, allowing the reader to vividly experience the pleasure that radiates from the pages. Moreover, the inclusion of alternate points of view adds an enriching dimension to the narrative. Through the eyes of all three main characters, readers are granted a distinctive and multifaceted perspective, further enhancing their engagement with the story. However, while Overruling Judgment excels in many aspects, it falls somewhat short in its portrayal of a polyamorous relationship. Notably, neither of the characters consciously sought out this type of relationship initially. Sasha finds herself dating both JD and Ian simultaneously, without their knowledge of each other's involvement. The fact that they are brothers may also introduce a sense of unease for some readers. Furthermore, the book's depiction of the character’s reactions to the relationship lacks a certain level of realism. Although a degree of skepticism is expected, the resolution of these concerns is swift and glossed over too hastily. Given more room to develop, a lengthier narrative could have allowed for a more nuanced exploration of the plot and its implications.

Despite these minor shortcomings, Overruling Judgment remains an alluring and captivating read. Its exploration of the polyamorous dynamic, coupled with the exquisitely crafted eroticism, offers readers an unforgettable journey. Liz Ellyn's ability to bring forth the emotional and physical connections between the characters is commendable, providing a deeply satisfying reading experience. It is a book that celebrates love in all its complexities while also leaving room for growth and potential in its exploration of relationships. Fans of romance novels seeking a fresh and daring twist will undoubtedly be enthralled by this enthralling tale.

Two men set Sasha’s heart and body on fire but instead of choosing, she discovers a way to have it all. Overruling Judgment is an alluring erotic romance that will turn you on and have you rooting for these characters. Life is full of complications, anguish, desire, and choices. This point is the main theme of this book and it’ll have you seeing love in a new light.

At the heart of this book are the three main characters: Sasha, Ian, and JD. I connected with all three right away. Their complexity attracted me to them and drew me into their world. Romance and love are mine fields of the mind and heart for these characters. It is heart wrenching and a bit voyeuristic to watch them fall in love with each other. When the big reveal happens, fireworks explode. Never in my life have I read such an understanding group of characters.

I have to talk a bit about realism in relation to the romance. I know this is an erotic romance with a lot of focus on the MFM relationship and I’m fine with that. But this is where the plot delves into an unrealistic area. I asked my husband as several male friends and they agreed with me. It would never happen. I had difficulty believing this plot arc.

The writing skills of Liz Ellyn is impressive. She details the ins and outs of being a lawyer as someone who is one. She has an innate ability to draw the reader into the world she creates. Her narration is deep and emotional.

If you’re looking for a completely original erotic romance, pick up Overruling Judgment.

As a person who tends to be a rule follower (sometimes), I could have kicked my own ass: Why choose? Exaaaactly…and why didn’t I think of that sooner? Oh, dear reader, I digress…one of the things I love about Liz Ellyn’s Overruling Judgment is that love is allowed to run its course in way that seems to work for all the characters. Love has a lot of choice points and in many of them, people are forced into uncomfortable circumstances that can actually be beneficial. And speaking of characters—J.D., Ian, and Sasha are sophisticated, thought-provoking characters, who, through these growing pains, develop into people you’ll be invested in well before the end of the book. You’ll root for Sasha making the right decision about her career. You’ll love J.D.’s free spirit. Liz Ellyn’s knack for dialogue will draw you in from the beginning.

What I really like and appreciate as a fellow erotica writer is that the love scenes are hot—as in your retinas will burn out hot. I wasn’t sure how I’d like the MFM love triangle, but it satisfied the heart and the mind…and I’ll stop there! The alternate points of view provide the story with a richness that allows the reader to take a deep dive into the world of polyamory, which Liz Ellyn portrays beautifully in her writing. And, as if all that wasn’t enough, there’s Chicago pizza. This is quite possibly the perfect book that can combine the two!

You will not be disappointed with Overruling Judgment. It’s a driving narrative that explores the question that at one point tempts all of us: Why do I have to choose?

Eeehhh… I have some conflicting feelings about this book. On the one hand, the steamy scenes were STEAMY. It’s clear that Sasha, Ian and JD have great chemistry and that really came through on the page… if I pretend that Ian and JD weren’t brothers. Don’t get me wrong, I have no issues with polyamorous relationships – they usually make for some incredibly hot reading – but the fact that the two lead males are blood related definitely bring a bit of an ‘ick’ factor to it all. It also felt odd that it was their ultra-conservative mother who suggested, and encouraged, the arrangement? And then later lectures JD’s friend about the sins of divorce?

I’m probably the unpopular opinion here, but I felt like the plot was missing a lot of substance. Yes, there was some conflict, some drama, some comedy, but the major points of history and backgrounds seemed glossed and once the mains started sleeping together, that became the main focus of the book and honestly, I got little bored of it – sex, even really hot sex, can only do so much. Overall, I like the premise, but it just needs… more.

Thank you Voracious Readers and Liz Ellyn for my copy. I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All above thoughts and opinions are my own.

**SPOILERS**

In this book you get a glimpse at a polyamorous couple. While I am a heterosexual woman who has bi tendencies. I do not know how much I loved how this book showcased polyamorous closed couples. I think the fact that they were brothers was weird to me and essentially made the couple weird. I am not polyamorous, so I do not know how it is, but I almost feel as if it is too much of cliche. I feel as if it may be offensive for someone who is polyamorous. But as I said I am not, so I have no proof of how to pass this judgement.

The book has some very sexy scenes, but the plot is not thick enough. It almost feels like they rushed through the ending where the couple decided to be together and move in together. There was no true conversation about their future as they said, and they were all too willing to come out to their friends. I have very supportive people in my life, but that would be a scary situation and what parents willingly want their children to both date the same woman? It just seemed a little bit too weird for me.

The Sexy scenes did their job of making you feel all sorts of ways, but the other parts of the story were just not there. There was no plot building and no real way for the story to evolve.

Overall: 3/5 - Plus two because you don't understand just how sexy it got.
Story: 1/5 - Plot was not there, the storyline was mixed, and the overuse of BRO was a little much for me.
Spicy: 5/5 - The spicy scenes were definitely stirring all the things in my head.

This book is a contemporary MFM romance, with a bit of a love triangle happening. This story was ok for me. I am rating it a Low 3 stars. My biggest conflict with this book was with the character Ian. He came across at first as a strong, work obsessed, closed off man and then about a ⅓ into the book he spent most of the time jumping to conclusions, lashing out like a toddler after choices he made or having sexy time, but his behavior and attitude did not work for me. His relationship with Sasha also felt very insta love especially where they had one night together and then months later, he is declaring his feelings, and I am not a fan of instant feelings.
I did like J.D a lot, he seemed fun and relaxed. He really seemed like he wanted to make things work and did not get his feelings hurt by every little hiccup. The plot and the writing was ok for me, it kept me engaged enough that I wanted to continue reading and find out how it ended, but Ian was so tedious, and Sasha was just kind of there, I really did not understand their obsession over her, especially after such a short time. While this book I did rate 3 stars it is not one I would recommend a lot.

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for my advanced readers copy of Overruling Judgment by Liz Ellyn.

This was a very enjoyable and spicy read! The characters are well-developed, each with their own dreams and vulnerabilities. Liz Ellyn explores the act of balancing personal desires with professionalism at work. The tension between Ian and Sasha is palpable, keeping readers hooked! While the romance between JD and Sasha is fun and flirty, this also keeps readers engaged for sure!

The dialogue between the characters is a bit lacking, especially between the main characters and their parents. The wording feels clunky and awkward. However that is not the same for the rest of the novel. Most of the scenes feel very natural and have a nice flow to them.

This story shows themes of ambition, love, and self-worth. The pacing is well-executed, with each chapter building on the emotional stakes for the characters. While the story line may incorporate some familiar romantic tropes, Liz Ellyn manages to infuse freshness into the story through well-crafted character dynamics. If you enjoy spicy novels, tension between characters, and a well written story line you should definitely check this book out!

Okay? Are you guys ready for this story? Because you are about to be taught a thing or two about, a thing or two...lol. This is a well written story that gives the reader an entire picture of a blossoming relationship/s.

The journey you are about to read is so full of personality and drama. Just what you want and crave in forbidden fruit. I loved this story and I am definitely team JD. He is the reason this story moves and has so much life!!!! Another reason this story is a standout is it shows individuals having to find new purpose in their lives once their five year plan hits a ruff patch.

Also, this author does not shy away from showing real emotions from the men and ladies as the plot continues to unfold. I cannot say enough amazing things about this story. It leaves the reader with a smile and all the warm and fuzzes once the journey has ended.

I cannot recommend this story enough, get your favorite snacks and lay out and start reading today. As the world you are about to enter is so exciting. Thank you Voracious Readers Only and author for my free copy of this wonderful book.

So. I’m going to be honest. I felt a little mislead by the blurb on this. And there are things some good smut can cover up but honestly this isn’t good enough for that.
There are some spoilers ahead so please don’t read if you don’t want to be spoiled.

WTF is this. Is it technically incest? No. Is it though? Absolutely.
Let’s start at the beginning.
Our FMC is 10000% a pick me girl. It’s 2023 we don’t shame women for how they’re dressed. The men all call women FEMALES!? Who wrote this? And all the outrageous religious shit from uptight parents who are in unreasonably angry at their adult sons friend for getting divorced yet those same “super religious” people suggesting BOTH OF THEIR SONS DATE THE SAME WOMAN!? And she suggests a few times that she wouldn’t be opposed to DP from her boyfriend brothers!?

Maybe this was too hetero for me, but my goodness this was madness and not in a “dark romance woo” way, this was just outrageous that someone wrote it and then someone edited it and then someone published it. I cannot.

A one-night stand between Ian, and his colleague, Alexandra (Sasha) isn't a problem until Alexandra is unexpectedly thrown into Ian's path at the office. Putting his career first, Ian keeps things between them strictly business even though he hasn't been able to get Alexandra off his mind since their one night of passion.

Thinking Ian isn't interested, Alexandra decides to move on to her sexy art teacher, JD. There's an obvious attraction between the two of them but JD is a bit insecure at first. When he and Sasha finally connect, it’s full on passion and Sasha and JD’s relationship deepens. Now, Ian realizes he has feelings for Alexandra (Sasha) but when she tells him she’s moved on, he regrets his icy decision of keeping things just business.

Knowing Ian wants her, Alexandra is faced with the conflict of wanting both men. Fate steps in and a suggestion from an unlikely source sets Ian, JD and Alexandra on a path of discovery.

This story has plenty of spicy and is a great read.

Thank you Netgalley for providing this arc!

This was… something.

First you should know that they are brothers, and she also never asked a guy she is seeing - what is your bother name? Like he said my bro a hundred times. Plus she knew his last name. Why not ask for a name?

Situation at work and why she got fired is ridiculous and how she went about it. If you are in relationship with not one, but two people - maybe answer their texts. Even with “can’t talk or anything”.

Their dialogue is not normal. It felt a lot like two people working together.

Any love scene is just no.

In end, they are brothers. 👀

I absolutely adored this book, especially the captivating characters. I found myself truly invested in their fates and was eagerly rooting for a positive outcome. The book's pacing was so engrossing that I couldn't stop turning the pages. Unlike some stories that lose momentum in the middle, this one kept me hooked throughout.
For those seeking an exhilarating and fresh read, I wholeheartedly recommend this book. However, if you are a pearl-clutching sweet romance reader, you might need an open mind to fully appreciate it. If you enjoyed Maya Bank's Colter's Series, I can guarantee that you'll fall in love with this book.
I'm already eager for the next installment in the series!

I absolutely loved this book! The heat in the novel almost incinerated my tablet. Not only was it spicy, but there was love and tension that kept me turning the pages. Sprinkles of humor intermixed throughout made it an overall fun and enjoyable read.

The drama was real and relatable as I have known so many people struggle in their careers. The love of family as a core value in the story added balance.

The book made me smile, cry, and perspire....I would recommend this book to other romance readers.
