Still reeling from the death of her best friend and the betrayal of her father, Verosa finds herself on the run with the Nightwalkers. With each day Ophelus's dark army draws closer and hope for a solution to the impending war fades. Lost to grief Verosa clings to a single hope, a fabled oracle that lives in the mountains who will show her the future, if she survives their trials.
Rowan can feel Verosa slipping away as they face trials of their own. His father will stop at nothing to retrieve him and his mother, the Rebels are trying to force a crown on his head, and Mavis still remains one step ahead of him. With the Nightwalkers splintering apart and enemies approaching on all sides Rowan knows he must make a decision. Yet everything falls to the side when Verosa is taken and the King of Mercenaries will stop at nothing to get her back.
As nightmares are ripped from the pages of stories and death brushes closer each day Rowan and Verosa must choose to save the world or to save each other?
Haydn Hubbard is a North Carolina native who spends most of her time daydreaming of worlds filled with love, magic, and occasionally dragons. The King’s Queen is her debut fantasy series and the first of many to come. When Haydn is not writing she can be found competing with her horses, in any local coffee shop, or anywhere where there is a dog.
Just when I thought the world of The Kings Queen couldn’t get any better, I had my expectations shattered by Oracle of Ruin. I have remarked before on the uniqueness of the worldbuilding and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to continue to explore Krycolis. The plots are darker and I loved the way readers got to see the core of each character’s inner turmoil. However, even with the darker plotlines, there was masterful contrast with excellent spice continuing the romance from the previous book and lines that had me laughing out loud. I will continue to support this author as her writing only seems to be getting better and I eagerly await her next releases.
That was CRAZY These characters have become my best friends. Haydn Hubbard created a group of characters that are funny, full of heart, and oh so entertaining. I would read a book of just The Nightwalkers bickering or doing silly side-plot stuff. I love them. With that being said, I was not a fan of the storyline. It was something new amongst books that feel very copy and paste these days but it also felt like nothing happened. It was very much a character growth kind of book and I think if someone is struggling with grief they would really enjoy reading this book and the journey that Vera went through. Excited for book three though and too see how it all fits together and why
This book is an incredible sequel to The King’s Queen! Haydn’s vivid descriptions and attention to detail truly bring the book to life and allow readers to fully immerse themselves in the story. Even with the darker elements, it is perfectly balanced with humor and spice. The twists and turns in the book will truly keep you on the edge of your seat and make it impossible to put down! I loved seeing familiar characters develop as well as meeting new ones. I can not wait for the third book and will continue to follow this incredibly talented author as she creates this series and others!
I read The King's Queen with no expectations - and was blown away. I couldn't wait to read the 2nd in the series Oracle of Ruin, and was prepared for maybe a "little less" as many sequels tend to be letdowns. OOR however Did NOT DISAPPOINT! Absolutely loved watching Vera pick herself back up. Loved getting to meet Mavis! And loved seeing who survived, how relationships played out, magical powers came and went. Great read from start to finish - and now I'm already eagerly awaiting book 3!
Oracle of Ruin is the perfect blend of spice, romance, action, and of course plenty of magic! The author develops the storyline in such a way that you can experience the story alongside the characters, and her excellent world-building crafts a universe so interesting, I couldn’t put the book down! All I can say is #untraumatizederrin!
There are so many unexpected story lines in this book and I NEED THEM ANSWERED! Every time we figure something out with Verosa and Rowan another twist is added! I can't wait to read more and hopefully see a fitting ending for this ragtag band!
If crack was a book. I could not stop reading. The characters are developed so nicely and the world building is so cool to see. It hurts but it’s so good.
A great book that was a good continuation to this series. The characters and their relationships are developing really well and the plot was entertaining. Can’t wait for the next book!
