School girl Megumi, suffering from an uneventful life after a fleeting grade school romance, hopes to end such boring days with her entrance into high school. Still dreaming about the peaceful days with her past love, Hikaru, she encounters a stunningly beautiful girl on her way to the entrance ceremony. Suddenly, the girl calls out for Megumi and gives her a hug! Hikaru enters back into Megumi's life not only as a classmate, but as a girl. How will Megumi handle the shocking revelation?
I hate that this isn't actually a completed series, but what's available of it is super super cute and I loved all of it. The relationship was really great, and I loved that their teacher was so supportive of them. It's much more than I ever expected from a yuri manga :)
This was so wholesome and sweet! Exactly what I was looking for: Just a sweet normal romance with realistic problems.
Sadly, the characters are sometimes drawn a bit too similarly, so on occasion I had to think a bit to make sure I knew who was who. But that's the only real issue I see. Everything else is great and uplifting.
This is the story of Megumi and Hikaru who reconnect after a day spent together when younger. Megumi always thought that Hikaru, who she could not forget, was a boy but Hikaru-san was in fact a girl. I think it’s a rather sweet manga, at times awkward, funny, sweet and sexy at the same time. Although short, it didn't feel rushed. They changed and got used to being with someone. They take it slow though there is passion.
“People wouldn’t accept that. This is a co-ed school, after all” chapter 2 pg 17
They discover their sexuality and identity together. They don't know a lot of things but they figure it out as they go along.
I did not like how in the first kiss, consent was not asked but overall their relationship was great. They got together on their third kiss and from there, it seems like they will have a strong relationship. There is portrayal of inner turmoil and bullying but they have their own band of supporters.
There were many cute moments:talking in their PJs, how even if they are narrating they still have secrets from us (the audience),a cool teacher who was supportive but adviced to keep a low profile until they have a place in the world, the playful moment when Hikaru pretended to be a cat after Megumi said she saw a cat, counting numbers on the bus, Hikaru’s brothers and the ‘embarrassing family first meeting’, When Megu made Hikaru listen to her heart!, getting sunburns and the pendants where some of my favourite moments.
And funny moments:baseball references when Erika gets it and the public displays.
There were also problems like bullying and being sexualized by strangers.
There where two extras from different perspectives, one from a side character in the girls’ friends circle and the other Megumi’s sister.Really like Erika leaning behind Hirose but I don’t like how every time someone is said to not be cute, they have to get a makeover.
One random thing is I never notice until now that Psh was the sound of water!
Definitely recommend this manga. It has some good female characters and a love story between two females that is not overly explicit.
I loved this story so much that I stayed up till 2:00 in the morning reading it and writing this review. Hikaru and Megu had such a wonderful love story. I really enjoyed watching them fall for each other and slowly figure things out. Even though this was a short story, I really admired how the author/artist showed them struggling to come to terms with their sexuality. I liked the fact that it wasn't just glossed over, with each panel you could see the girls questioning themselves, and sometimes ignoring who they really were. The panels would show them crying alone and saying things like, "What I'm feeling isn't normal." It felt very realistic. I also appreciated how the book quickly touched on real topics. For example, that beach scene where Hikaru and Megu came across a straight couple who made some disgusting remarks towards them. Not to mention .
All in all this manga was amazing. I loved the illustrations, and the characters even more. I was left wanting more from these two, their relationship was so beautiful (♥.♥) It made me smile watching them grow from being childhood sweethearts to lovers. And last but not least, I can't forget about how much I enjoyed the scenes they had with their teacher, who was pretty much drunk every time you read about her. But I loved her character because not only was she funny, she was really supportive of the two girls. At times a little too supportive ;) if you know what I mean.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Not much of this series is out yet, but what is there was wondeful. A contemporary relationship that felt real, with both girls invested in it and without one of them falling into one specific "aggressive male role," as usually happens in yuri manga (and yaoi). Just a very cute relationship with gorgeous drawings, supportive friends, and, best of all, a supportive teacher! Not that there isn't a depiction of less-understanding individuals. But overall a great series that I'll definitely wait for more.
Bright clean art style despite being cancelled due to being “traced”? Odd, since manga can be annoyingly homogenous. Trans character is interesting but I won’t continue because the romantic characters look tweenage and things get rushed.
4.5 rounded off. Haha! Slow burn much. Simple but nice plot nothing overly complicated. Main and Supporting characters (esp. their teacher and Megu's little sister and Hikaru's brothers). Sweet and sexy all at once without being explicit. I was hoping Hikaru would hit the bullies at the beach but then....
This is a simple yet adorable love story about two high school girls who had met already when they were younger. I enjoyed reading it, even though there's nothing much new about it.
It's difficult to be gay in a society that is less tolerant. Still, love comes first and the characters always find ways to get together and be happy. The manga was cancelled, but the general idea is clear enough.
After spending a day at the sea with a boy years before, Megu moved on to high-school. The boy is now back. He turns out to be a girl who now joins Megu's class. Hikaru greets Megu with a warm hug. Still, she has a sadness about her. The two share another kiss, just like years before, revealing that Hikaru also loves Megu. But can they be together though bullying and social rejection?
Fucking hate the "I was in a different country and I found my bisexuality there." Shut the fuck up, stop doing this.
:/ The make over montage.
"She said no to me showing up, so now I want to even more *puts herself in a situation, where she cannot say no*" I am paraphrasing, but this is simply not a good relationship.
This teacher is giving very much pedophile vibes, it is none of your business what your students are doing in their private sexual lives.
The "haha, we are so tan" part looks super racist :/
Very realistic depiction of emotions from both characters. A very sweet and emotional story. I loved the illustrations too. The story showed their supportive friends, teacher etc., but also showed that people can still be total sods (a couple harasses them). All in all a good read!
There were a lot of cute aspects about this yuri, but the sexual scenes made me really uncomfortable because these girls are like 14 years old and that teacher is like a freaking creeper bro it weirded me out like a lot
Upon re-reading, I prefered it. Maybe because I've been reading so much yuri manga and it's generally not great so the barest cleanly-drawn, tender love, and cute story seem better. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the (male) author usually drawing lolicon hentai, but this didn't feel disrespectful or overly sexualized.
