Privy to the most intimate desires and needs of the most daring women in London, Lord Edward Delamar, known for his prowess in the bedroom, sets his sights on a new lover, inviting her into his secret realm where she will experience exquisite pleasure at his hands. Original.
One Wicked Night is an unusual book. It is written in the first-person, from the 'hero's' perspective. I use the term hero loosely. There is no happily ever after. It is a collection of erotic vignettes, both real events within the story and works of fiction written by the hero and others.
The book, which is set in Regency London, is presented as his memoirs before, during, and after a torrid affair with another man's wife. The plot threading through the book is as thin as a human hair... He is attempting to protect his lover from her evil husband and her reputation as a lady. But you won't read more than a single page without coming to an erotic scene or story. And it doesn't have the feel of a good 'romp.'
Is it good? It's different. The first half of the story plods along and I was tempted to give it up. I kept reading, not so much because I was interested in what happened next, but because I was curious as to where on earth the author was going with this. The ending is unexpected and yet, not.
This book is a prequel to Three, in which Lord Edward Delamar, the protagonist in One Wicked Night, finally gets his happily ever after.
WARNING: This book contains scenes of menage, BDSM, M/M, and F/F sex.
This book was different from what I expected, and I think that's why I liked it. The book is written from a man's POV, which was an interesting change from what I'm used to. It wasn't a love story, but more like a collection of erotic scenes, so it was best to read in chunks, rather than all at once.
There was one paragraph toward the end of the book where the editors missed a POV change error (it went from first to third and then back again), but other than that, I was impressed with the quality of the prose. I'm interested to read more by Noelle Mack, since this was my first book of hers.
All over the place in no particular order, like ADD on speed, very difficult to follow. Still I wanted to know where it was going, or even if it was going somewhere, so I kept on reading. Sex scenes are Meh! The only good thing that came from it, is that I learn some new slang words in French (I read the French version) though I am not sure it is really positive thing, because honestly I won't use them. LOL
Oh this was horrible. I couldn't get past the first 60 pages. This book went with a few other to the used book store in town. (for me to give up a book, that says a lot, and I feel bad for saying so) I loved Noelle's anthologies, but this? Nope! I gave it a shot and didn't like it, doesn't mean it's not going to be loved by others, just not me. Sorry Noelle, but this wasn't the one for me.
