NAVY SEAL Rexar Mitchell has loved one woman for as long as he can remember. She snuck in under his defenses when he wasn’t looking and claimed his heart for her own. For her birthday, Rexar gave her a wedding ring and a license that made her his forever. Or so he thought. Four years of torture as a prisoner in the infamous Section 209 of Iran’s Evin Prison gave him plenty of time to figure out who betrayed him. The only logical answer was one which made him consider doing something he swore he would never do. Ring the bell, call time on his Navy career, and end it all. But an unexpected rescue put him on a new path—vengeance. Now he just needs to find her.
Lily Yelverton was cursed, she was sure of it. Her husband swore he’d love her forever, then died and left her behind when she needed him most. The loss almost killed her. When she finally managed to pick herself up off the floor of her broken dreams, she had to learn to love again… because her child deserved it. A new name, a new life, Lily thought the danger which haunted her was over. She was wrong. Now her husband is back from the dead, and people from her past are asking questions she doesn’t have answers for. When word on the grapevine tells her their child is the target of a madman, the only one she can trust with her son’s life is the man who shattered hers...Rexar.
When the US Government needs plausible deniability in a country they shouldn’t be in, they call on the expertise of Nemesis Inc. Bravo Team. When the world declares war on the people they love, Rexar, Kentucky, Draven, Caleb, Tate, Bryan, and Susan Stoker’s Operation Alpha, Seal Team face danger head on to ensure the ones they protect make it out alive.
This book is an emotional roller coaster, in the best way! After finishing Drax’s book and seeing what happen to Rexar I was looking forward to seeing the rest of his story! The beginning had me mad at both Rexar and Lily for separate reasons. Then my heart felt for both of them for all that they have been put through. And then we got really into the meat of the story and I stayed up way too late because I couldn’t put it down! You might have some feelings so have some tissues handy! You definitely don’t want to miss out on this one it has all the things : found family, grief, loss, friendship, and betrayal. You see hints and call backs to the Red Squadron Series and Team Panther too!
I am always torn when it comes to reading the newest book by Bella (Annabella) Stone. On one hand I want to dive right in and devour it cover to cover as quickly as I can. On the other I want to savor every word, line and paragraph slowly because I don't want it to end. OMG this couple went through hell! In different ways, Rexar it was torture and imprisonment until rescued, for Lily it was fear for her life and running constantly watching her back. For me this story was reuniting with old friends from both Bella and Susan Stoker, Susan's characters Wolf, Caroline and a few others play a big part in helping solve and save Rexar and Lily. It has some violence, action and suspense, it's exciting and wonderful,
I am new to Bella as an author. I must say I really enjoyed this book and plan to add her to my list of authors.
Rexar Mitchell falls quickly in love with Lily while in Italy and they end up married right before he is sent out on an undercover mission. He is captured and brought to an Iranian prison where he is constantly tortured.
Lily is informed he is dead; and now she must take care of the only one that matters; her son. She is in fear as people are trying to get to her. Rexar is finally rescued by his brother's team Nemesis after 5 long years of being tortured. All that time they kept telling him that Lily betrayed him. He comes home with so much anger; knowing he is no longer the man he was before prison and fighting with nightmares and PTSD.
The storyline also brings in some of my favorite characters from Susan Stoker's world; Tex, Wolf, Carolyn to mention a few.
This book is filled with suspense, action, and emotional. Rexar asks Tex Keegan to find Lily as he now knows he has a son and will do anything to get him away from Lily; still believing she betrayed him.
This story was wonderful, and I couldn't put it down. Bella is now one of my favorite authors and can't wait to read more.
I just finished reading Rexar's and Lily's story and I'm trying to find the right words to describe all the emotions that their story left me with... It is an emotional, strong, agonizing story filled with the unconditional love a mother has for her child and a father and husband who has come back from the dead and is trying to... Oh, you have to read it on your own because I hate spoilers. It was a rollercoaster of emotions for me. I just love the brilliant way Bella Stone blends the two worlds together. Bella's Operators meet with Susan Stalker's boys and girls. Wolf, Caroline, the rest of the SEAL's of Protection family, Tex, the Nemesis Inc. Bravo Team and many more characters parade in this beautifully written book. Bella has a unique way making me feel nervous when her characters are enjoying a beer or are book shopping, you know, doing normal everyday things... Feels like the calm before the storm... Or as an Operator would say, before the boom-booms start going off... Thank you Bella for another beautiful, heart stopping book.
This story had so much potential. But the writing and storytelling were confusing, writing was so hard to follow — choppy, terrible dialogue, just overall poorly written. Characters went from hot to cold, love to hate back to love, making assumptions that were wrong, hating someone because they believed they were betrayed, then thinking they really always loved them and knew what they believed could not be true.
Bringing in Susan Stoker characters was bizarre oftentimes. The characters were written so differently than they were in their original stories. It felt gratuitous having them in. And one person seemed to be written as a single person when they were actually married.
Romance trope: military; back from the dead Series: Special Forces: Operation Alpha/Nemesis Inc. Bravo Team Length: 350 pages
Plot: Rexar and Lily were married for a day or do when he was called away to a mission. That turned into several years and Lily thought he was dead. But someone is still coming after her, so she spends years on the run, protecting the son that Rexar never knew about. He's not dead, though, and believes that Lily betrayed him. When he catches up with her, he's determined to make her pay.
Commentary: There's not too many books I've read with less-than-smart heroes that I've enjoyed (Against a Wall by Cate C. Wells might be the only one) - this isn't one of them. The hero is not very bright and everyone around him keeps saying "hey, have you read the reports, no have you really ready them, no did you get the point?" He never fully reads the reports and doesn't seem to understand what everyone else does, so he keeps on believing that the heroine betrayed him and his plan is to kill her (probably) and take their kid away. It's pretty gross. Just a tiny bit of reading comprehension. I'm not even going to let him use the excuse of emotions running high because he's been trained and he's had a lot of time to think and he has all these people around him telling him he's wrong. There's no reason he should still be thinking she betrayed him. And this couple goes back and forth the entire book - who betrayed who, who's after them, etc. It's wearying. (To be fair, she's not as bright as implied either - she knows the marriage was never filed yet she accepts that someone from the military came to tell her about his death? Even after having years to puzzle through that one, she never even thought that was strange?) More than that, there were so many other people in this book. Since the hero (Rexar - there's someone who's name came from a dropped Scrabble hand) had his own team (from his time in the military and the security team and all the associated people) there was literally no reason to add in a team from Susan Stoker's book. Those characters were superfluous. Even the stuff with Tex could have been done with another tech guy. Adding in Stoker's characters just doubled the number of characters to keep up with, and they all had real names, nicknames, call signs - it was ridiculous. If I have to read several other books just to understand who's who in the first book of a series, it's not well done, as far as I'm concerned.
I am always torn when it comes to reading the newest book by Bella (Annabella) Stone. On one hand I want to dive right in and devour it cover to cover as quickly as I can. On the other I want to savor every word, line and paragraph slowly because I don't want it to end. Rexar will grab your attention on page one and break your heart a few pages later then have you smiling by the end of the prologue. It only gets better from there. Since this is from Susan Stoker's Special Forces: Operation Alpha collection you'll be delighted that Tex Keegan and Wolf Steel's SEAL Team play sustantial roles. We also get to meet the members of Nemesis Inc. Bravo Team. It just doesn't get any better than. Ah but wait, it does. Ms Stone does some name dropping that should delight you.
Rexar Mitchell and Lily Waters spent a few idyllic days in Italy, got married quietly and then he was gone on a mission never to be heard from again for five years. Now, like Lazarus, he's seemingly risen from the dead. He's angry. He's ready to lay blame. On the run for her and her son's life, Lily has been living by her wits. She's shocked to see a dead man. They have to put aside animosity, listen to the other and work together for a common cause. Communication is the key and family is everything. Their love is not gone it just needs a kiickstart.
I read Drax's book and always hoped that the author would give Rexar his story. And she did. While you can read Rexar's book on its own, I would recommend reading Drax's story (written as Annabella Stone) to get the whole picture, especially how the team found Rex.
This book ties in with Susan Stoker's Seals of Protection series and Bella Stone manages to show full respect to characters written by another author and adding her own flair and signature to it. I read all of the Seal books long before I read Bella Stone and she does do them justice, they are as fleshed out and true to their own books as I remember them.
Rexar is still recovering from the 4 years as prisoner and tries to come to terms with his missing wife and child. Lily, thinking he is dead, is on the run from unknown threats.
I must admit I was mad at Lily in the beginning. She knew of Rexar's family and didn't reach out when she received the death notification and the threats started.
Both Rex and Lily had to learn to look underneath the obvious and realise that both were victims and they have to learn to start again.
RJ definitely steals the show and a bossy Tex is just the icing on the cake.
I wasn't keen on the one person close to Rex who knew about Lily and RJ and didn't' say anything. For me that would be a huge trust issue, I don't think I would be that forgiving.
In the story of Drax, Tags of Honor series (mm), written by Bella's alter ego Annabella Stone is Rexar is rescued from a "nonexistent" prison. Rexar has a wife and child no one knew about, not even his twin, and he's is desperate to find them. But they seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth. And then there is the question of whether Rexar has been betrayed by his wife and does he really want to find her.... I can't describe how amazing I found this story. I read it in one go, just couldn't put it down. In the first two Nemesis stories, I didn't particularly like the female characters. I found them too damsel-in-distress-waiting-to-be-rescued, but in this story, the female character is just as awesome, strong and capable as the male characters. If you like stories with Special Ops Operators, action, suspense, romance, a bit of angst, well-rounded strong and independent male AND female characters, amazing world-building and an HEA, definitely give this story a try. Highly recommended! All of Bella and Annabella' Stones' stories are set in the world and characters from different series get mixed up quite a bit. This story can be read stand alone, but I liked that I was already familiar with the world setting and most of the characters.
After reading Drax’s story(Tags of Honor: Red Squadron Book 3) and not knowing what happened to Rexar, I knew it would only be a matter of time before his story was written, and it did not disappoint. It was an explosion of raw emotion from the get-go, and it did not let you go till the very end; if I am candid, the emotional hangover lasted for a few days.
Bella does not disappoint in any of her stories, and while each one is its own, I love that she continues to bring back all the characters in snippets in each one; it is like your family stopping by as they drive through town, and you can never get enough.
I can’t wait to see where this new series takes us, but one thing I do know is that it will be one hell of a ride surrounded by characters that feel like family!
Another thing to mention is that this story ties into Susan Stoker’s Seals of Protection series characters, which have been written with continuity to their original creation and just a little bit of Bella flair thrown in.
I somehow made it to 69% even though I really haven't enjoyed this book at all. There are approximately 9,487 characters in this book, all with weird nicknames. I imagine there's a million books before this one with their stories, but it says this one is the first in this series so not sure how readers are supposed to know that. This is super plot heavy and it's very confusing with all the characters and all their different connections. The MCs aren't even on the same page until around the halfway point of the book. This is a personal pet peeve of mine. Why write a book about 2 main characters if they are never in the same room and don't interact at all for much of the book?? Basically this is not a romance at all. I read romantic suspense for the romance and there is none in this book. I also don't care about the suspense part enough to make this interesting. So DNF at 69%.
Nemesis operator Rexar Mitchell had been captured in Tehran and tortured for four years. Maybe vengeance kept him alive because Rexar was certain, the woman he loved more than anyone, his wife, Lily Yelverton betrayed him. For over four years Lily had changed her name and been on the run, certain the CIA cleaners were after her. Shopping for her son for Christmas, Lily was missing her husband when she realized she’d been followed by men with guns. Luckily, some military wives helped her fight back and Lily escapes.
To my taste, this outing was good in the moment but on later reflection, flaws are evident. For me, the unknown villain had a sinister air but was too quickly identified, the big battle not so much and the wrap was a race to the page count ending. That’s not to say it was a bad read, it wasn’t. Romance, suspense and action plus a cute kid that wasn’t precious (a big win!) All delivered. Rating: 4.25stars
It has some violence, action and suspense, it's exciting and wonderful, full of love, friendship, loyalty and support. It's like coming home to close family, acceptance and no judgement. I could easily have stayed up all night reading as I didn't want to put it down, I was gripped and so into it but my eyes were stinging so I slept and picked it up again this morning. What a read! I freakin loved it and Rexar's "darlin," swoon❤❤❤❤❤. Amazing characters and a plot that gives to the reader right to the end, FANTASTIC.
A story filled with suspense, emotions, action, angst and so much more. I loved that Bella incorporated some of my all-time favorite characters from Susan Stoker’s SEALs Protection of Heroes series (Wolf/Caroline, Cookie/Fiona, Tex).
The storyline being Rexar home after several years of torture in a secret Iranian prison and his search for his wife and child. He has suffered unimaginable trauma and believes his wife betrayed him and his uncover mission causing his capture.
Lily is running from her and her child’s life from an unknown enemy. She’s independent and capable, but her luck is running out.
This is a story that grabs your attention from the beginning and entertains you with great storytelling and characters.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
We last saw Rexar being carried out of the infamous Iranian prison where he had been held and tortured for 4 years. His team thought he was dead. His wife thought he was dead. The story picks ups one year later. Rexar has recovered enough to try to find his wife. He thinks she has betrayed him and their country. She thinks he is dead. She has been burned by the CIA and has lived on the run since Rexar’s “death”. With the help of Tex, Rexar finds Lily and saves her from a situation. Watching these 2 come back together and realize all is not as it seems was amazing. Once again, Bella has written complex, tortured characters who redeem themselves as they fall in love. 11/10 recommend!
Rexar has been searching for his wife ever since his brother freed him from prison a year ago. He wants to get his child he has never seen and put his wife away for getting him captured all those years ago. Lily has been on the run and in hiding almost from the very first when they were separated. She has no idea who is after her and her son but she has tried to find out so she could quit running. When they finally find each other it is explosive and then there is more explosions that keep on coming! Oh yea wait till you meet R.J.! 100 stars for this super fast paced love story that will leave you wanting more from our Bella!
Ever since Rexar appeared on page, I have wanted his story. Well, this is beyond anything I could have imagined. Lily lost so much that her child was the only thing that seemed to keep her going at times. Then the danger got even closer and the past came back with a vengeance. This is absolutely breathtaking, emotional, and everything plus more that you could want from Bella Stone. You will see some familiar faces and a surprise or two (Susan Stoker's Seal Team!) but you will be invested in what is happening.
Both the MMC and FMC grab you from the minute you meet them. Almost instantly you are invested in their lives. He is rescued from torture and prison. We meet her as she prepares to run with their son to protect him. I wasn't sure how they would overcome the odds and get back to the HEA that had been stolen from them. I paused briefly at about the 10% mark to check that this author had plenty of books for me to read after this, then right back reading til I finished. A lot of twists, but well crafted and held my interest beginning to end
After the 4 years of being held captive and tortured and finally rescued, Rexar has one thing on his mind - find the woman who was the reason. The same woman who he happened to marry and has a child with. But once he finds Lily and RJ, the truth comes out and their lives are never the same. Filled with high emotions, beautifully written characters and heart stopping storyline this was an excellent start to a new series.
This was a action packed book. The teams are family, love and support for each one and their families. I especially loved all the characters included from previous books by Susan Stoker. They made your book special and a solid foundation. I recommend this book to family, friends and book lovers everywhere! Ready for your next book in the series! Thank you! Appreciate your talent. Bless you!
This was a great start to the Bravo Team. I love reading from the Stoker Aces world. In fact, I feel so bad for poor Caroline cause at this point she's been kidnapped like 7 times!!
The heroine is strong and brave through her experience as a mother. It's the change of fighting for survival not just for herself but for her child that makes this story move and bloom.
Oh my, what a fabulous book! full of terrific characters and the cute little 4-year-old RJ. It is full of action with a healthy dose of steamy times. I am giving this one 4 stars, now you'll have to excuse me while I go, and binge read this authors back lists! I'm so excited to dive right into them.
It's hard to come up with the proper words for this story. When you get the visit from the military your husband was killed in action, but your husband was actually in a prison in Iran for four years. This was a sad, but excellent story with a HEA. There is plenty of action, suspense, betrayal and new beginnings.
This was the first book I read by Bella Stone. It was an emotional journey. This couple has been through so much angst and pain. It took them a while to figure things out and to fight for each other, but it was well worth it. Throw in some of Susan Stoker’s characters and I really enjoyed their HEA. I have found a new favorite author and have been binge reading everything by this author
❤️🔥💖❤️🔥 Rexar and Lily❤️🔥💖❤️🔥 Rexar was held captive leaving his wife to think he was dead. Lily had his child but she had to run to keep him safe! I love this series and all of Bella Stones books and series! This author needs to be on your TBR list!♥️♥️♥️.

I really enjoyed this read. You can’t help but cheer for this family to get through their troubles. We get Tex, Wolf, Caroline, and the rest of Wolf’s team and their women to help them out. Lots of action, suspense, memories god and bad, hot scenes and love that survived.
Author tried way to hard on this book, too much rambling and I’m surprised at my self for saying this, but there was too much Tex. I know these authors use Susan’s characters but it didn’t seem to be many of this author’s own characters, I’m a die hard stoker fan but please, give use your own stuff too. Not impressed.
It was so cool reading about so many of the guys and gals I’ve read about over the years. From Wolf and Ice ,Tex, Abe, Alabama, Fiona etc. to have Ms Stone bring in the mention of some of my favorite authors was the icing on the cake. Let’s not forget all the danger following Lily and Rexar . This book has it all .
Yay to finally getting Rexar’s book! I’m not familiar with Susan Stokers characters but I still loved watching all the interactions. Loved seeing him meet his son. Would love to have seen him meet Drax!
