Maurice Leblanc (1864 - 1941) was a French novelist, best known as the creator of gentleman thief (later detective) Arsène Lupin.
Leblanc began as a journalist, until he was asked to write a short story filler, and created, more gallant and dashing than English counterpart Sherlock Holmes.
This short story, part of a larger series, is delightful. The author and his gentleman thief, Arsene Lupin, were wildly popular in the Golden Age of detective fiction and became a success from the very first story written in 1905. Several early films were made of this character and other roguish thieves, such as the Falcon and the Saint piggy-backed on that theme.
The main character is charming and only steals from those that he feels deserve it In this tale, it is a nasty miser who collects painting masterpieces and art objects of great value and locks them in an old castle which appears to be impervious to a thief. But he doesn't count on Lupin. This plot is clever and believable with a bit of a twist.

No words to say ... I'm simply in love with the Character Arsene Lupin.. i started reading Lupin stories after watching the series.. It kept me hooked till the end. Awesome read!!
One of the most famous Arsene Lupin books. The book contains several brilliant stories, and all of them are really interesting. However, I personally thought the story called "The prisonbreak of Arsene Lupin" was most exciting story. The story was struggle of Arsene Lupin to escape from the prison, and the way he had finally achieved this was so exciting. Therefore I would like to recommend this book even you are Arsene Lupin fan or not.
I took sixty five minute to read this book, but i did not read perfectly. seven word summary; gentleman thief richman prison treasure safe disguise success Q;Have you ever watched cartoon lupin's movies? -I like this series, and watched it last week. Q;Have you ever read this series, Arsene Lupin? -It is first time for me to read it.
Ah, a likable thief! Arsen Lupin reminded me of Sir Charles Litton (aka The Pink Panther) from the movie, The Pink Panther. A suave, debonair, elegant master criminal, Arsen Lupin might be a character that I could come to love!
