Fae-ted Kings #2

The Unseelie King and I

Rate this book
He's the king of all the Unseelie fae. And I'm his bride. Augusta
You'd think that as the Royal Seer, I would've foreseen the tall, shadow-cloaked fae appear in the gardens. And how we'd share a bench, intimate conversation, and a kiss.
But I didn't.
When he offers his arm to escort me back to the King's ball, I find myself taking it. And learning his identity.
The Unseelie king, a reclusive male with magic too powerful to comprehend.
Clearly, I shouldn't have kissed him.
My mistake.
My huge mistake. For now, the Unseelie king demands something my king isn't willing to give.
That I become his bride. Aamako
My nephew wants to steal my crown.
This forces me out of seclusion and into society, particularly the lavish halls of the Seelie Court. I'm searching for a bride.
I meet her as soon as I step into the Golden Palace gardens. The Royal Seer, a beauty with laughter made of sunshine, intriguing boldness, and a kind heart—a tempting combination I must resist.
Although I knew this engagement was never real, it begins to feel anything but. And now I'm not sure how I'll ever let her go... *** No cliffhanger. HEA. Best read as a part of the series but can stand alone.

This was one of the oddest books that I've read in a while 💀.
-=- 3.5 stars -=-

I'm not going to lie, there were a lot of times when I didn't know what was going on- The fact that I didn't read the previous book probably didn't help-

but as a whole, this world and story were so strange in a way that worked and just felt so fae.

It had very strong 'Beauty and the Beast' vibes, with an alarmingly crazy MMC, but we love him 🤧. This was so strange, I really liked it.

Quickish Review

Series overall: Never read Milana Jacks before but I got completely sucked into this series. It has some worldbuilding without getting too far into the weeds, spicy scenes, good chemistry between all the MCs, and humor just when I needed it. They all have some drama to keep things interesting and the MMCs all have a dark edge to them, which I enjoyed.

Book 2: the MMC in this book is a little…eccentric or possible cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs but I liked him just the same. Possibly my fave of the series.

He wields shadows and objects and it kinda reminds me of retelling of a Beauty and the beast and the first one now also kinda reminds me of a Cinderella because of the glass slippers but nevertheless it is such-a-fun-it-made-my-insideds-warm-and-happy book.
And I want more.

very much the girls that get it, get it. i feel like she’s made so much progress as a writer in terms of cleaning up the narration style but there’s definitely some backsliding in this one. it was difficult to follow the plot towards the end because there were 3 different perspectives layered over each other.

Such a beautiful romantic story for Aamako

This is book two and it’s a wild ride. So there’s a party for the Summer Fae King Etienne and his Queen June. However, June’s little sister Augusta has been trying to hook up with someone during the heats. She has tried to flirt with one of the handsome commanders but with no luck. Then, a beautiful and handsome unseelie shows himself to Augusta. She sniffs him and oh my she is attracted to this Fae. Unbeknownst to Augusta this handsome unseelie is the one and only King Aamako, of the Winter Court . . . . Read On!

This book definitely gives off beauty and the beast vibes. The concepts of this story could have been really good but I feel like they were not executed well. I was confused during several parts because the plot just skips forward??? The spice had way too much lead up and was ultimately disappointing. The breeding kink unfortunately did not go hard and I don’t like the words used during the spice. I couldn’t tell you one decent plot point for this book.

Augusta is a Seer, kind of. She doesn't really have a lot of power, but her sister is to marry the Summer Court King, so that gives her some standing. Until the Unseelie King, Aamako, shows up and decides he wants her for his bride. At first, it's just to show strength as his nephew tries to usurp his crown, but real feelings develop between Aamako and Augusta. Can these star-crossed lovers find a way to be together after all?

I didn't really enjoy this book. I felt like it was all over the place, with a lot of the action being skipped over (one character literally turns into a dragon and then we have a skip to weeks later with a short little recap of what happened). I also don't really believe the relationship between the two main characters, mostly because I couldn't tell you anything about them. This was clearly inspired by Beauty and the Beast, but the pacing is so weird that the story is basically incomprehensible and the plot is no more than a halfhearted handwave. I'm still not 100% sure what happened, but they live happily ever after, I guess??

Was an okay read

Another take on beauty and the beast, different for sure. Little on the wild side, but was okay story.
Not really sure why the Unseelie King retreated, if the why is really clear, only that he did for decades, reason he needs a bride to secure his crown from his nephew who he put in rule in his stead. Augusta is seelie fairy that captures his attraction.
I thought there should have been more interaction involving the nephew prince and his coveting the crown mother that the king named as queen regent in his absence.
And it could have done away with the cliché female running away after hearing only a piece of what was being said, Augusta was a bold female, diminished by the cliché written.

The idea was cool, but the writing is off. I'm not trying to be mean, but it needs cleaned up and certain parts just taken out. I did not read the first one, so there were things that I just didn't understand....like whatever the increment of time was measured in. Also...and this is really a big gripe from me, and maybe I'm missing vital info since I didn't read the first book in the series....but why is this basically a Beauty and the Beast based story and then for one hot minute they are on a magical fae reindeer delivering presents like Santa.

The Unseelie King and I

Love this series. Well written. I didn’t want to put this book down and then was disappointed there isn’t a third. When’s the next book coming out?

This will probably not surprise you, but I am a tad infatuated with the Unseelie King…and no it has nothing to do with his totally lickable cover, although that kind of eye candy certainly helps, but he himself is totally lickable. I am just as infatuated with him as she is. I love his no-nonsense attitude, he’s a total grumpy badass and he owns that shit. I mean they call him The Destroyer. He also knows what he wants, knows how to get it, with no apologies, no excuses, just him being him. So I love me some grumpy mad lickable destroyer…MINE…I said what I said *winks*. She’s the Seer sister, Augusta, of June’s from book 1. I love that when she first met him, she’s the one that kissed him. She was so funny, and an unfiltered ray of sunshine for sure. They were both funny af. The scene when he shows her her room that the staff designed for her…I laughed out loud, and couldn’t stop…hilarious. And she may or may not have yelled out the window some private stuff about her and the King, thinking they were alone…yeah, they weren’t and when she comes downstairs to see him…she finds out.…it was hilarious. Classic Milana Jacks humor. These two were one of my favorite couples, and definitely one of my favorite Milana Jacks books, I just couldn’t get enough of them.

Safe read with my grumpy mad lickable destroyer and his unfiltered ray of sunshine virgin. Great storyline, with all the hilarious Milana Jacks humor that I love. A pink room with blue unicorns and a sexy pic of my unseelie king on the ceiling, yeah you read that right…just picture that for a hot second, a got lucky scream, only to find out that the house that is normally empty had people there and heard what you screamed *blushing*, and magical house staff that happen to be objects, I mean this is quite the fairytale, throw in the lickable unseelie king, and I am one smittenly happy girl. Got to see our favorites from book 1, including my personal favorite El’jah (pretty sure he’s everyone’s favorite), and gained some new ones. Fae-ted mate hea. Total book crack series. Need the next book please, and thank you.

A Beauty and the Beast vibe, and a HEA

This is the 2nd book in the Fae-ted Kings series, and it was what you'd expect from Milana Jacks . . . engaging dialog, a suuuper alpha male, little omegaverse snippets here and there, except the smut factor was low. This book starts right after the final chapter but before the epilogue. Our heroine, Augusta, is June's baby sister from the first book. Now she gets her turn! She is part of a fake engagement, to help the unseelie king, Aamako, stave off a challenge to his throne by his own nephew. Of course it's supposed to be a fake engagement and of course, they end up falling in love. And I was here for every moment of it.

Honestly, there was a bit of a Beauty and the Beast vibe, given all the household items that come to life under Aamako's magic, in his dark and lonely castle. But Augusta's outlook and personality would definitely give Bell a run for her money. And honestly, I simply cannot see Bell in the few smutty scenes that are present in this book. While our MMC is a lil on the brooding side, he still has a sense of humor, although it's more sarcastic. In the opening chapters, there's a scene with him and Et'tenne (the summer court king) where Aamako suggests demands that Et'tenne give him Augusta in a "fake" engagement so he can plot to keep this throne. I thought this scene was hilarious. 2 alpha males, each unwilling to "give way" to each other, and the potshots here were definitely chuckle worthy. For his part, Aamako is so chill about pretty much anything thrown his way. So chill in fact, that if he were anymore chill, he'd be flatlined.

Other than character cross-overs, there is no overarching storyline that encompasses the whole series (all 2 books of it, haha). Although, according to the author, there's a few more books to come, and that makes me so happy! There's a few more characters I'd like to see get their own HEA. This could be read as a standalone, but I do suggest that you start with the first book as it will enrich the world building.

A wonderful read, wonderful second book in the Unseelie series that you’ll thoroughly enjoy
Augusta as the Royal Seer she is expected to see all that is to come that might and will effect the kingdom, she was offered the arm of the king that was to accompany her back to the King’s Royal ball, she accepts his arm and the learns all about his identity.

The Unseelie king is a reclusive individual and his magic so powerful that it is simply uncomprehend able so he was very isolated. He demands that my king give me to him so that I can become his bride but this is a matter that is not something he is going to agree to.

Aamako has been told that she is mad living with furniture that is considered a friend, it is a companion to her and for this she is often considered to be extremely strange. The Unseelie king knows that if he is going to remain on his throne that he must find a queen and has to make a decision.

When he had stepped into the Golden Palace Garden, he had found The Royal Seer and he
Met his beauty a female that had made him smile and laugh and she was such a tempting combination he felt himself being drawn to her.

They begin and engagement that is all about keeping his throne safe and sound and as time passes, he finds himself falling deeply in love and the engagement becomes more real and he feels his heart missing a beat.

I guarantee that you will simply love this read and I guarantee that you will be unable to put this book down once you begin reading this wonderful story.

I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing

This Book Was Adorable

Quotes:📖
That one soul among millions that makes yours sing.

I’ve seen what fierce love looks like, I want this kind of devotion too. But if I do accept less, if I accept a deal with a male who won’t love me, let it be the craziest thing I’ve ever done. Let it be a fake engagement to the Unseelie king.

Thoughts: 💡
This book was adorable. The characters were so adorably awkward, but they fit perfectly together.
I loved how sweet and dorky Augusta was and how Amako was this powerful fierce king with a big persona that hid the fact he was a sweet and zainy nerd.
I also really liked that we got to see a lot of relationship development as they learned to interact and appreciate each other. Oh, and there’s some interesting side characters in this story.
The writing was as wonderful as it always is with Milana. The mechanics, world building, character development, and details were nearly perfect.

Fun Bits:
⚜️ Fun Uses of Unique Magical Powers
⚜️ Zainey Characters
⚜️ Hot Smut
⚜️ Remarkably Quotable

Important Note:✨
Book 2 in a standalone series, it can be read on its own; but it’s better if you read the books in order.

OMG this is my favorite Fae book of 2023! I did not read Book 1 and I do read series out of order or just pick and choose so I can't say much as a series but THIS BOOK WAS AWESOME!

He was deliciously dark, angsty, and with a wicked sense of humor. I was LOLing when he stoll the Seelie King's bathing shorts and then just whipped it off. I admit, I was thinking Jason Momoa through the whole thing with that naughty murder muffin vibe of please let me kill them for you honey. And Augusta was a joy to read.

This was so Hades and Persephone in that he's this dark fae feared King who lives in the shadows and here's this former farm girl now a seer who stands up to him in delightful ways. And alkjd;akdjdkl they are sizzling hot together!

There is of course the proverbial black moment when they are separated and it is so well done. I did say this is very Persephone / Hades hot romance and they do get their HEA. Oh yes, it also has some very Beauty and the Beast moments that will leave you delighted. I will be re-reading this one I loved it so much.

Aamako for the win!

*POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD***
Loved loved loved Aamako. He's so fierce, and so broken, and so jaded, and so dark that his falling head over heels in love with such a bright wide open soul like Augusta really got to me. I got teared eyes quite a few times. And Augusta is so perfect for him. It broke my heart when hers was broken. She grew so much within the span of that story, it was truly wonderful to be along for the ride. June was an old soul already, when she met Et'enne, because of what she went through. Which is why she was perfect for Et'enne. Augusta really wasn't very mature at the beginning of this journey, not yet. Aamako is my favorite King so far, very narrowly beating Et'enne. I actually can't believe he did, because I really REALLY liked E'tenne. He's the hottest of the kings, but somehow Aamako was even more compelling.

I hope we revisit Aamako abs Augusta in the future.

Loved it!

Really enjoyable story and great follow on to The Royal Obsession. The cross references between the w two stories were awesome because I really loved June and Et’enne. Aamako and Augusta had such a delicious connection, I loved how they met and were enthralled with each other through the story even though they were limited in some ways because he wouldn’t do anything to ruin her powers and future. The imagery of his house “staff” was so fun, both when they were doing what they were supposed to and when things went a little nutty. I loved the story and would definitely recommend!

The Unseelie King is a wonderfully insane MMC and I really enjoyed how he and his staff were written. I enjoyed Augusta living with him and adapting with an open mind. The writing style is interesting and makes the story feel very “other” and fae.

I felt like things went off the rails a little bit after they leave his house and go to the court. It became somewhat hard to follow what was happening at times. It was a 5 star book while they’re home together!

Personally, I think Augusta is better as a low level seer. Her unpredictable visions make her an interesting character. More interesting than a powerful Fate where the magic and knowledge is hard to really understand.

Mixed feelings about this. On the one hand I loved the continuing storyline and Milana Jack's world building is top notch. Aamakko has that whole dark, dangerous, broody and gorgeous vibe going but his powers while extremely dangerous and powerful are so completely unhinged that it was also hard to take seriously. But it's a testament to Milana 's writing that I still felt it deserved 4 stars. Definitely lots of angst and drama. Sometimes I had no idea what was even happening but I enjoyed the ride.

Also.....anyone else wonder about that little tease regarding El'jah and Augusta's other sister??

My fav. mad King

I've finished the unseelie King and I've already re-read my personal fav chapters twice already. Still I don't feel I am ready to leave. Hence I know for me this is a GOOD book. I lay there having good vibes and all sorts of positive feelings and thoughts.
Aamako the unseelie fae King the Destroyer, the Army of one, is delightfully dark, powerful, drown to his "madness " yet with a sarcastically sence of humor, and with a strong sense of conscience. Augusta is a fae with a good heart and a sunny disposition with great potentials. A good match indeed. Milana Jacks and this King is officially my best company

This is a voluntary Advanced Reader Copy review of ‘The Unseelie King & I’. I really enjoyed reading this story. Right from the beginning it stated when this story took place, and jumped right in. I immediately remembered the previous book, and all the bits and pieces fell right into place. This story had me smiling and rolling my eyes. The descriptions were fantastic, and the attention to details brought this story to life. But, then it went twisted and dark, and it was fantastic! And even with the dark, there was still some parts that were funny. But, the ending?? Brilliant!

I really liked the Unseelie king and his seer. Though the seer seemed a little naive and was constantly thinking about finding herself a mate. However, I read this book WITHOUT reading book 1... I thought they were standalone books (and maybe they are to some extent). And so I spent the first 10-20% confused. The ending was also very confusing for me... some things were finally explained but left me with more questions sometimes than answers. Still not sure what happened some of the times after 2 reads. Overall not bad, but confusing for me.

Augusta was pulled straight from a YA book. She bounced around without a care and was fickle with her affections. There wasn't any chemistry, yeah they had sex but it's not believable. Just a teeny bopper girl walks around kisses some random dude. If she had been drawn to him, if she had been memorized by his lips, smell whatever then maybe but she kissed him just to kiss him. She was also in heat??? So that was a big deal but wasn't a big deal. It was terrible. I gave it 2 stars because I powered through it but it was probably the worst book I've finished all year.

🔸 H was celibate for a half a century or more
🔸 mad unseelie king
🔸 very light aka misunderstanding ow drama
🔸 om drama as h pining in the beginning of a book for another man
🔸 no cheating
🔸 no apparent triggers
🔸 omegaverse aspects
🔸 I would recommend reading first book, otherwise you would be lost as storyline starts from the first book and continues here

The Underlie King and I (Fae-ted Kings book2)

This was my first story by Milana Jacks, and I found it quite enjoyable. It was very Interesting the way she starts the encounter with the King and his Fae mate. Although, it had some dark encounters between the couple as well as dark sexual undertones it was easy to get into the story. I found it hard to put down, and like any good story or movie I found that I dwelled on it during my day! These are always the signs of a great story teller and accomplished author! I can't wait to read the rest of the series!
