We've already met Rowan in some previous books, and know he's a complete arsehole. But, Daddy I Love Him. And I can fix him- or at least, his hot AF executive coach can. Rowan moves through her programme "faking" learning lessons (but some things definitely stuck...) with the goal of getting to fuck her at the end of it.
Sophie is an absolute powerhouse. She's the balance Rowan needs, not taking his shit and making him work through his family issues and deep set insecurities. She's not going to be intimidated by some rich guy with an MBA, and I absolutely love that for her. I think sometimes, authors fall into the trap of - yeah he's a dick, but his Dad was mean so it's all OK, he's misunderstood and just needs the right woman. Rebecca said ABSOLUTELY NOT- this rich white guy better do the goddamn work.
The chemistry between the two is just so delicious, I honestly don't know how they're not just getting it on on every single page. The spice is off the charts, but the relationship goes so much deeper than that. I love that Sophie (and Natalie - a fun little throwback cameo) make him do the work on himself, and allow the connection to grow deeper.
Does my Rowan love reveal some deep set psychological issues? Probably. I'd still bend myself in half for him, though.
