It was supposed to be a relaxing getaway… a few nights in a secluded cabin with only my favorite books and thoughts for company… But as night falls, and the creatures of the forest begin to wake, I realize I haven’t found myself in an oasis of tranquility, instead, I’ve stumbled into a den of monsters. A herd of stag centaurs have caught my scent and are determined to track me down. When they arrive at my cabin door, I have to make a choice. Submit to their every desire, or pay the ultimate price. It’s a good job these stags are handsome as they are wicked…

Too short for me to appreciate the deeper meaning and symbolism... And also... Monster novella and only one spicy scene? In what world would that satisfy me as a reader of this genre? 😆 6,5/10.
Roe, Odin, and Buck. This was very deep and a little dark, and excellent especially for such a short book. Nice twisty plot reveal toward the end. For those of you who don't understand the concept of reading cover-to-cover, don't skip around or skip ahead; this one's too short for that and you will ruin the surprise. Remember, patience is a virtue! 😁
There’s a lot of symbolism in this book! It was too much for me, I just wanted a fun read! This was not that! It wasn’t bad though just not what I was looking for to read at the moment! I read it because I love deer!
It started well. I like the style of writing. I like the mood, the setting in the woods (needed a chase scene through the woods though) But where is the heat ? The build-up ? The spice ? I know it's a quick book, but there either needs to be more smut and less story (hot, wham bam thank you mam) or more connection/emotion if we are only getting a small amount of smut. When did she go from being terrified to besotted? It wasn't insta love it was just a semi attraction (her inner dialogue needed more ... I wonder what fxkin him would feel like (more detail), etc. Working herself up in her own head more, just more - (and either wanting to bang him or NonC DubC situation). The 'fight' felt unnecessary or could have had more......I don't know.... emotion ? Her getting accidentally hurt ? or could have happened 'after' one of them had already claimed her, and they are fighting over rutting. (I say rutting with an eyeroll , because again ... we need more bang for a rut.) The need to have 2 male present in the beginning wasn't necessary unless they are going to share again after the fight - with one being more dominant and telling the other where/when he can touch her. Also, where is the foreplay? Work up to take a larger member ?
I know this review is a little harsh for me, but it honestly just needs some tweaking, and it could be great. Which is probably why im annoyed, because the author does have 'something' . I love the dark, moody, and slightly bloody style, and the burb is everything I want in a book. The author does write in emotion when talking about the FMC's struggles in life, but all emotion leaves when we introduce anything else. The connection from the FMC to where the smut/introductions to monsters is where it needs work.
This somehow took forever even though it was only 60 pages. It could have been probably 15 or 20 pages if you take out all of the overwrought prose that had no real purpose - didn't contribute to the plot, world building, character development, not even setting atmosphere. It was just.. a lot of words strung together.
The Stag's Pet is "tryhard to be a flowery ~writer~ with deep meaning but make it monster fucking"
There wasn't deep meaning. You just took forever to get to the point and at the end, there wasn't some profound message, just a clear sign this female character needed therapy, not to "repent her sins" as the story went on for like 50 pages about. What was her crime? Spoiler: Yeah, no, she didn't deserve punishment for that. What kind of hot take is that?
PS Her punishment is rape. It's very, very dubious consent at best and not remotely sexy.
There wasn't a single redeemable thing about this.
This book wasn't what I was expecting, and what I hoped would be the outcome was not. I think that's the main reason it only got 2 stars from me. I was a good book, but I set my expectations too high. I thought they should all end up with each other, Yes, they all have a moment together, but just imagine if Buck had the same claim as Odin does when he takes a claim over Roe.
Roe is at a cabin in the woods all alone, until two stags/monsters come to atone her for all the sins of her life. She is given the chance to atone for her sins or pay the ultimate price. To atone for her sins she must pleasure them both at once. If she satisfies them they will battle to lay claim among her, one one can win. Odin and Buck fight, Odin ripping Buck’s antlers off wins the battle. Odin's lays claim to Roe as she is now his to own.
Quotes I enjoyed: “We were brought together out of darkness, and reborn in the light. I would stay. Not for Odin. Not for Farris. But because now, I couldn’t go back. We walked on, monsters together, swallowed up forever by the forest.” “To atone for your sins you must pleasure us both at once.”

I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved all the little details that the author put in here about the forest and cabin that Roe said in. Made me wish for my own little cabin in the woods. For me that sounds like absolute paradise.
I was kind of hoping that Roe would end up with both Odin and Buck. So I was kind of disappointed there. But I am so glad that she ended up with one of her strong stags. Reading about what sent her flying to this cabin to try to recover. I was so angry for her. Nobody should ever feel like they aren't enough for any reason. I hope her stag can make her see that she is enough, and that she is perfect just the way she is.
The description in this is exquisite; I am 100% a forest-bathing booknerd. Being surrounded by a forest soothes my soul, and the description of the forest in this book is beautiful - the way that the light changing and the mist creeping across the forest floor is described is remarkable.
Also, it's monster corn, who doesn't like that?!
If you're a nature person, there are some extra special little details that will make you go "oooh, that's clever"!
I need to go back and read the other 2 monster pet books by Kass now.
I really enjoyed reading this. It was a short novella but well written with steam, spice, redemption and .......two powerful male stags entering their rutting season just when Roe is trying to find herself and heal from the past.
I love the thought of a remote forest cabin, peaceful, away from the bustle of daily life and this was described perfectly. I wasn't 100% sure Roe needed redemption, but she absolutely got more than she expected, and just what she needed!
Peace, quiet and monsters. Who could ask for more? ;-)
I wish this had been longer. I know it's a novella but only 1 smut scene with two dark stag men? Pleaseee the tease is unreal.
It was a bit too short for me to really appreciate the 'plot' and meaning of the book. When I got to the end I was just sitting there like "well okay...".
However, if you like monster smut and need something quick I'd def recommend this one regardless.
MFM love story with a sad background. Roe’s history and the reason she found herself in the woods is really sad. this story lowkey centers around that more than any kind of pet play, why choose, Dom/sub dynamics that i thought would be there.
overall short & sweet, HEA, wish there was more.
beware … you’ve ever seen deer shed their velvet it’s … intense.
This was a very interesting story with characters or should I say monsters lol that had me intrigued. The setting as described was gorgeous and makes me want too head into the forest. I think the story but wish it was longer because I enjoyed this story.
I voluntarily reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
This book is short and spicy. When sent to the woods to stay in a cabin, what would you do if you came across 2 stags? They're in their rutting season and they'll make use of their new visitor as soon as possible. I sunny spoil it for you, but if you're looking for a quick read with some spice, Kassandra has what you need.
This is a short and fun monster novella. I loved it! It was written well and had a poetic feel to it that I really enjoyed. It also had a creepy almost suspenseful vibe that I enjoyed as.well and in the end it worked out in the best way. I can't wait to read the next one!
These stags are something else. Monsters or not they definitely act like humans but with something a little extra. When roe makes her appearance both Odin and buck prepare to punish her in the most delicious way. This book was short and spicy and I enjoyed reading it. I can’t wait to read more of the monster pets.
100% was not for me. The spice was meh. The mentioning of the antlers shedding velvet really grossed me out, because when that happens they will have strips of bloody flesh just hanging off of them until it’s done and that’s all I could picture when they kept mentioning it. Hard pass

I was expecting a very spicy short story, but the spice didn’t hit till almost the end and it was one scene. The story was written well in the sense of how descriptive everything was, but I couldn’t connect with the characters. So not my personal fave, but the writing was very good I thought.
This went way better than I expected. A decent amount of plot for such a quick read. A love triangle of monsters claiming the "innocent" sacrifice. In her eyes, she's condeemed by events of her past, and the Centaurs are her punishment. Very well written, I can't really say more without spoiling it.
I thought it was a quick and easy read. For me there was a bit of mystery to the story, because we're uncertain of why Roe is at the cabin to begin with. There was also a bit of action and steam. I can't forget the twist at the end, I didn't expect at all! I really enjoyed it!
This was a short read with a little spice. Roe is away at a cabin, trying to relax. When taking a walk she comes across some beings she's never seen before, and isn't even sure they're real. What happens next is sure a surprise to her.
I liked the part giving us Roe's backstory at the end, explaining why she needed this time away. It was surprising.
In the woods trying to heal and regain herself from a traumatic event, Roe finds herself the prize of two massive Stag Centaurs. They are her penance, her redemption. She must give into them or pay the ultimate price. This was hot and quick and like always amazing.
Our heroine feels as if she needs redemption, and she finds that in Odin. I like how they ended up together but I wish there was more about them. How he knew she was it for him, where they lived, how they would work, etc. But still a good short read
I have definitely learned a lot more about stags than I thought I would when I started reading this book. I will never look at stags or velvet the same way ever again, that’s for sure. Good, dirty little novella tho. Xx
Just a little bit. Did she just stay out there after the accident with the terrible boyfriend (his attitude was ghastly) or did she leave and come back? Either way, the rest was as I expected so I'm not disappointed.
3.5 stars

Short and sweet with a great ending. I really enjoyed this book, I wasn’t sure what to expect but loved it. If you like spicy monster romance then this is the book for you. Can’t wait to read the next one.
I came here for monster fudging, was left wanting. It's a short read that is way too heavy for only 60 pages. The spicy times could've been more. I was so excited about it, too.
