honestly i see why it has such low ratings, it was a fun read but the writing was just so juvenile. it felt like something that came straight out of wattpad. i wanted to like it but it got so annoying when the character kept bringing up that she was cheated on like every page, girl we get it. the dialogue was actually pretty decent but overall it was just so damn corny. also i just feel like everything was just so convenient for the main character it got so annoying after a while.

I really loved this! It was fluffy and romantic, and I genuinely can't wait for the next Sun City instalment. This followed a singer and a footballer (the American kind) going through the trials of uni. Ryan was such a kind - yet yummy - hero, and Jamie was quite the relatable heroine. Seeing them come together was so lovely and I enjoyed every moment of this fast-paced, contemporary read.

I think if you liked The Deal or The Hook Up, you'll probably enjoy this one, too!

It was ok… good.
Easy easy read.
I almost felt i was mindlessly reading, not because the writing was wrong or the story itself was bad. I think that I was just not feeling a college romance. I felt like I couldn’t connect with the characters.

But this is a me thing rather than a book thing.

Not rereadable for me.

I did not like the characters at all in this book, I found the main character so unlikeable and the whole book was a little too cringe for me. I usually love easy read cringe college romance books but this one was just too much idk

“After a break-up some people liked to dye their hair or get a tattoo — I got drunk, laid and then I liked to decorate. Not necessarily in that order.” Get Even, Jade Church

Fake dating. Contemporary revenge romance. With spice that had me flustered? Absolute yes.

I loved this. It was the perfect length, the perfect blend of romance and the side characters added to the story. It was a quick, easy read and I truly enjoyed every minute of it.

With a fake dating trope, revenge, tension, and starting with a bang, Get Even is a great college romance to read. Especially if you like a sassy FMC who knows what she wants and isn’t ashamed.

The only reason I’m giving it 4/5 stars is because I wish we would have gotten a bit of a longer ending (don’t wanna say because it will spoil) but if that would have just got a little more attention that would be perfect.

Overall, this was an extremely enjoyable contemporary romance, with great amounts of spice, interesting main characters, & great side characters as well who elevated the story. TW so please check those before starting!

For fans of: fake dating tropes , college setting, contemporary romance, revenge plots, spice right out of the gate, badass female characters, LGBTQ+ characters, witty banter and funny pop culture references (like when the FMC relaxes with TVD episodes🤌🏼) then I highly recommend Get Even!

Listen, I live for a good revenge plot. And when the revenge plot is in a ultra spicy, contemporary, college romance setting? OBSESSED.

Jade never fails to carry the pacing of a plot in a quick, and efficient manner. This book had me eating up every word and quickly turning the page for more spice and hilarious banter.

Our FMC is feisty and a total badass. While or MMC/love interest is a quiet athlete on the streets and a sexy, spicy cinnamon roll in the sheets.

Bonus points to Jade for adding music recommendations to go with each chapter! It set the mood perfectly!

I can't wait for the rest of this series!

Get Even by Jade Church
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 out of 5⭐️

Girl I have a bone to pick with you… I read this in one day!!! Totally killed it with this one and I cannot wait for book 2! I need to get reading your stand alone “This Never Happened” as if it is anything like this, I am down!

I love Jamie. Her character is just great, knows what she wants, doesn’t let anyone walk over her but also we can relate to her emotions and experience. I would have liked a bit more background drama with her life before living in Sun City or a bit more emotional stress about her University study drama’s. However, thats just my emotional side talking when this was 100% was more about romance, revenge on you ex and falling for the person you are fake dating with so I was well engrossed in this book with out too much emotional stuff.

I love the group of friends she had found, definitely found family trope coming into this and she gained better friends by the end. This was also a really well written book with lots of diversity in gender, sexuality etc and the all trigger warnings that were mention in this book were not left out in the content warning page.

Honestly, this is not a book or series to miss!

This book covers
Enemies to lovers
Sportsman romance (hint of football)
Good boy bad girl
Fake dating

There are so many good books out there with all the above mentioned tropes that are written so well done.
The writing job, the plot, the characters all are just done so poorly.
Synopsis sells a girl who date her ex boyfriend's rival to get revenge. In the start you get the same thing but as story progresses plot makes less and less sense.
There were so many elements added to the story that just didn't make any sense and were unnecessary at the end. *
These maybe SPOILERS for you so be cautious.
Like the professor who has plain discriminative biases against our female MC. and he is dragged throughout the story just to add unnecessary flavour, to show that our female MC really has difficult time in clg on top of addict mother. But she is powering through.
By the story progresses there are so many new characters added with the names like Kit and there is a Kat too. By the end I couldn't make head and tails with who is with who or who secretly loves who.

Plus sexual orientation of the characters was confusing too, so many people were gay, so many lesbian, our female MC being bi, yeah I got it you want to give lgbt community representation but ever heard of overdo? I didn't understand who was who.
Our male MC was goody too shoes. He's football captain along with psychology major and is having all A's. That's the whole to him along with denim blue eyes coz our femaleMC has upgraded apparently from her ex with baby blue eyes.
He obviously has feelings for the girl all along but there is no point where he confesses his love or open his feelings.
If that's not enough for you to stop promoting this book, there is a character named Max who is music producer and he too just happens to have a heart to heart with our female MC and has successful music label.
I mean you have all in this book. Author apparently doesn't do anything in halves.

Love a bit of contemporary romance with a generous side serving of spice, then this book is for you.

I absolutely love a revenge plot, and Jade didn't disappoint. She has managed to deliver a superb college romance with added zing. I loved the banter, and I found myself devouring this book in one sitting.

There was the right amount of additional characters, which added some depth and wit to the story but didn't take the highlight away from the seriously sassy and badass FMC!

I loved the LGBTQ+ references. I'm kinda wondering now if Liv and Jamie might have a little rendezvous in book 2... [here's hoping for some queer spice] Stay tuned as book 2 is coming out real soon, so we shall soon see!!

*Patiently waiting for book 2*

"𝘗𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘯 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘯."

This was one I thoroughly enjoyed—the spice alone, holy hecketh! 😏 Get even, get under, get over—yes, yes and yes! 🥵

Jamie is everything I would love to be, when in reality I'm nowhere near as cutthroat or as edgy and badass as she is! I loved seeing her grow through the book too, especially with everything going on—and lord how she didn't throw hands at Taylor or Aaron... I commend her! 😂

Ryan on the other hand—bless his socks, he's the perfect equal amount of hot as balls and sweet as pudding! 🥺🔥 I loved how supportive, accepting and commandeering he was towards Jamie, in every aspect! 😏

Though I do have to say, I've become very attached to the side characters—I need to know what happens with Liv (I see wayyy too much of myself in her!) and Xander, he just has it—I need to know more about this man! 😎🖤

I need the next book! 🔥

I’d like to start by noting that I don’t tend to read college romance or contemporary romance. I have nothing against the genres, they just aren’t the type for me to lean towards

Having said that, when Jade reached out and told me about Get Even, I was so intrigued and honoured that she wanted to share the story with me.

So, what did I think? I loved it!

I connected with Jamie quickly as her unapologetic self radiated the bad b*tch energy I love so much.

And Ryan? Awww Ryan, our feisty cinnamon roll. Not all heroes are morally grey MMC’s and Ryan is a perfect example of that.

I was blown away by the writing itself and coupled with the fact that Jade nailed the pace of this 232 page book.

I highly recommend especially if you love college/contemporary romances and spice right out of the gate (what an excellent BAM! start)

Thank you, Jade, for sharing this with me. I cannot wait for Fall Hard.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

This was a fast read that was enjoyable. I liked Jamie as a character and how she dealt with people who were being rude. I liked her attitude towards others and not apologizing for her feelings.

This had a fake dating trope that we are thrust quickly into, with Ryan and Jamie getting revenge on her ex. I liked them, but I would’ve liked to see more on how they met or the intro Ryan besides the slight glimpse we get in the beginning of him being roommates with Aaron, and then developing a relationship with Jamie.

This book had promise, with the revenge plot, it was a cute college romance!

I think the plot was a little all over the place, with the revenge porn, school suspension, terrible professor, fake dating->real dating, dilemma about careers. It was still enjoyable to read.

I’m interested to see where the next book goes and who’s story we will focus on!

Thank you Jade for the ARC in return for my honest opinion!

I thought This Never Happened was spicy, but Get Even hit the ball right out of the park in comparison! Get Even was an enjoyable read, with an easy-to-follow plot and interesting characters.

Here's what I liked:

- Jamie is a relatable, takes-no-sh*t heroine and I found her character believable and fun to read
- Ryan! I am a sucker for a cinnamon roll love interest, honestly. We all love a morally grey villain but equally I love a soft boi. Ryan was that.
- Fake Dating Trope with plenty of snarky, witty banter going on

A fast-paced and easy read, I'm very intrigued to see how the next book in the series pans out.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

Overall ⭐️⭐️/5
Spicy content 🌶🌶🌶/5
Spice quality 🔥🔥🔥/5

This book is about a young girl in college who find her bf cheating on her with her best friend and room mate and instead of confronting him she goes and sleeps with his best friend and brother not 10 minutes afterward.
Then, she sends a picture to him, showing what she did. She then fake dates his rival even though the ex and the rival live together.

There are some cute scenes in the book, but honestly, it all felt very rushed and not thought out. I found myself skimming a lot because it was repetitive when it came to the scenes with the two main characters.

Maybe this book was just not for me, and that is alright.

Strong start.
Well, until she sent the selfie.

Ryan-Ry-just happens to overhear her situation and then offer up his services as a ‘revenge boyfriend’. Sure, ok. They are nemesis after all, him and her ex, so that’s kinda believable.

But yano what, he’s wanted her this whole time and the best approach is obviously manipulation of a shitty situation and getting mad when she’s like “no thanks” to anything more than their so-called arrangement.
You can’t get mad when it was all your idea?

The FMC needed to just move on. Could’ve just settled for banging his bro and best friend without all the rest.

Anyway, the alley scene was hot AF 🥵

Before I even get to the book, can I just say how much I loved this playlist!

Now back to the book. Jamie finds out her boyfriend and best friend are cheating so she decides to get even…by having a threesome with her exs brother and best friend. I love the progressiveness of this book, and I believe it was able to add the steam I was missing since the author held no bounds.

Highly recommend if you need a quick spicy read, and I’m honestly hoping we get to see more of the side characters in the rest of the Sun City series.

This was a quick, enjoyable read. I love a good romance book and this was one of them😍

Jamie is such a badass person, who does everything for the people she loves. But watch out because you don't want to be on her bad side😅

I love how the story was made, I discovered a new favorite trope: fake dating😆 I loved these characters so much that I wanted to keep reading, also sometimes I was a little lost with how many characters there were😅

I can't wait to read more of this story and get to know these other characters more😍

I received Get Even as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

4.5✨/5

Fake dating is one of my favourite tropes to read and Get Even didn’t disappoint. Such a cute, easy read with great chemistry between Jamie and Ry, with Ry being one of my favourite book boyfriends.

The themes of empowering your sexuality when others are trying to drag it down are great. And I love that Jamie doesn’t let revenge porn bring her down for too long, but push her further instead.

For a great, funny but easy read Get Even is close to the top of my list. Simply because once I started, I couldn’t put it down.

“Your life is like a movie.”
“Can’t wait for the credits”

So, I started this book in the morning and was done by mid- afternoon. But can you blame me?! You can’t feed me a fake dating - FAKE DATING 🥺 - in an academic setting and expect me to just put it down?! As if that was even a possibility.

With that said, I hate Taylor. And Aaron. But mostly Taylor. And definitely Aaron. You’re perfect Ryan. You too Kit. And Xander and Nick. 🖤 I absolutely need Liv and Bryn to have their own book. And maybe Kat too. Please and Thank you 😎 Now, I also realized that I have major trust issues. I spent more time than I care to admit telling myself: please don’t let Max be a serial killër 👀 But Jamie. Jamie was a force of nature that kept getting up as people and life kept trying to get her down. I want be like Jamie when I grow up 👀 This might have started as a story on getting even but ended as a story on second chances at happiness, found family and healing. NA. 4.5 stars ⭐️

Thank you Jade for the ARC. I can’t wait for book 2 🙌🏼

This was an unexpected read that honestly had so much going for it. It was more than a simple romance - there was a lot of growth, diversity, representation, found family, perseverance, and more. For a short read, I am so pleased with what I could take away from this story. I highly recommend!
