I've read this book several times now. It reminds me how good a sketch or short play can really be, and I often flick through before attempting to write anything for theatre that requires humour. If I ever manage to write anything half as good as any of these sketches, I will die a happy author.
I laughed at all the way through - then I cried because there won't be any more - then I hugged the book. A genius - a hero - taken way too soon. The world needs more Victorias before the balloon goes up.
I love Victoria Wood's Dinnerladies, but haven't seen much more of her work other than the occasional video clip. So when I spied this book in the library, already feeling like I needed a good laugh, I couldn't resist. And I'm glad I didn't!
