Hans Christian Andersen (often referred to in Scandinavia as H.C. Andersen) was a Danish author and poet. Although a prolific writer of plays, travelogues, novels, and poems, Andersen is best remembered for his fairy tales. Andersen's popularity is not limited to children; his stories — called eventyr, or "fairy-tales" — express themes that transcend age and nationality.

Andersen's fairy tales, which have been translated into more than 125 languages, have become culturally embedded in the West's collective consciousness, readily accessible to children, but presenting lessons of virtue and resilience in the face of adversity for mature readers as well. Some of his most famous fairy tales include "The Little Mermaid", "The Ugly Duckling", "The Nightingale", "The Emperor's New Clothes" and many more. His stories have inspired plays, ballets, and both live-action and animated films.

It contains:

The Snow Goose
The Doll
The Silver Swan

The first story is very beautiful, and the second one is the best, and the third is enjoyable.

Quiet reading that might appear subdued compared to some of the wild and crazy books made nowadays to compete with the internet.
These do not always have happy endings; they tell stories instead. Touching on significant historical events they manage to make them intimately individual and deeply human.
Good reading.

The book consists of three stories; 1) The Snow Goose, 2) The Doll, and 3) The Silver Swans. All of them are quite ordinary and lacked originality... (Especially, the second story about a girl with twisted leg is so common in English literatures..) I wish I had spent my time something worthwhile to read><

This was my book club selection and it’s fine. Not a thrilling story and I didn’t really see the point of it. But I guess it is ok. There are three stories in the book and I read the first two. Did not bother with the third.

The book I read by Paul Gallico is "Three Legends." The three short stories are The Snow Goose, The Small Miracle, and Ludmila. What wonderful stories written with exemplary description! These stories are light reading that, while "light," still powerfully speak to the reader's spirit. These are stories I will definitely revisit.

I still adore those first (novels) or (stories) i read in my childhood. They will always be my favorites regardless of their concepts or way of writing !
