Years ago, Elliot Smith became a mentor to Ian Quick, then a young man with a dream of becoming a professional magician, and taught him that honing his craft was only one part of the equation of success. Elliott advised Ian about the business of being an entertainer, guiding him in how -organize his work space and financial records; -market his services effectively; -obtain leads for new business; -make "cold " calls; -negotiate contracts; -deal with agents...and much more.
It was a very good basic look at everything you need to think about when first starting to become a professional entertainment. It was a fast read, had lots of great information, and covered all aspects that needed to be included.
Only thing it is missing was up-to-date information on websites and social media. The book is a few years old so it makes sense it would not be included.
