The girls of W.I.T.C.H. may have met their greatest challenge yet. Will's dad is back in town, but he doesn't want one big, happy family. He's forcing Will to choose between him and her mother, and he's threatening Taranee's mom with blackmail. The five Guardians have battled ferocious monsters and powerful sorcerers, but they'll need to call on the full power of friendship in order to survive this latest threat. Can the power of friendship help them survive family drame, crushes, and heartbreak? Or are there some things that even Guardians can't control?
Ah, W.I.T.C.H. So much of my childhood was spend obsessing over the series. The books. The comics. The cartoon. The merchandise. You name it I was into it.
So why only the three stars if I loved it so much?
Well as time went by, I grew disinterested in the series. I went along with it mainly to see how it ended. I simply wanted to know what the final outcome was.
Surely that is not enough to merit three stars? You loved it!
I did, but that was because I was a pre-teen with very low expectations. This came before my vampire-loving period, so you can imagine what my standard was like. Don’t get me wrong, they’re not bad books – they’re simply not something I can go back to now that I’m older.
Thoroughly enjoyable at the time, but not quite so much now.
After years of reading these books i suppose that this was a fitting ending to the book, although i really had wished that Will had actually managed to get back together with Matt in the book although I know that in the comics that this does happen that would have made it better book. I think that this book is good for the age it is for and if it were not for reading all the ones before I Wouldn't like it as much but i am glad that i read this series and that it helped me learn to read quickly and enjoy reading.
I used to like these series. Now, I don't think they're so good anymore. I got up to number 12 or something like that, and they've gone up to #26 or something... and they're still coming out!! I'm not really interested into them anymore, but I used to be.
People who follow me are probably tired of me talking about my re-read of W.I.T.C.H. They can rest assured that this is the final chapter book, so we're done now. For people who don't follow me though, I am going to repeat my story.
Last summer was so depressing that I decided I was going to re-read my 'favorites' shelf in order to decide what still was a favorite and what wasn't. I ultimately had to pause my re-read of W.I.T.C.H. halfway though because I had to start school again, but this summer I picked it right back up and this time I finished it.
When I first read the books as a child, I never got my hands on the final chapter book (this one) so I was so happy to finally read it for the first time. I can only imagine what my 12 year old self would have thought of it, but I can tell you what my adult self thought of it.
I'm always blown away by how children's literature manages to have Big Conversations in smaller, easy-to-digest sentences. This book is one such example. The book revolves around Will's dad threatening to sue Will's mom for custody of her, unless he gets a large sum of money from Will's mom by tomorrow at noon. If he gets that money, he will withdraw the case immediately.
Will immediately calls up her friends Irma, Taranee, Cornelia, and Hay Lin so that they can do everything they can to try to stop this from happening. But their magical powers over water, fire, earth, and air are not effective in a situation like this. At the end of the day, they are five middle school girls with no money and no power in a court of law. They have to find other ways.
I loved the way that Will's friends came together even though the odds were stacked against them, because they refused to let their friend be taken away by a terrible excuse for a father who left her and her mom alone for over a decade, and only came back when he needed something from them. These are things that real people go through every day. Even though I loved and still love the concept of five magic girls crushing evil creatures from other planets, I also equally adore the idea of five girls with the odds stacked against them refusing to let their friend be removed from them.
I won't spoil what happens with the legal battle, but I will say that even at 26 years old, the end gave me happy tears. It was a wonderful ending to the chapter book series.
I also learned through Wikipedia that only about 50% of the story of the original comic book series got adapted into chapter books. There are a TON of other stories out there that I never even knew about! One day I will buy&read those comic books to find out what became of W.I.T.C.H. after this book, but for now, I am content with this ending. Thank you for what you did for me in childhood and thank you for this glorious adulthood re-read. Part of my heart will always belong to Will, Irma, Taranee, Cornelia, and Hay Lin. <3
This was a brilliant end to the Witch chapter books, wish they continued with more of their adventure's but it was great overall. Will finds out why her Dad came back for real, and the Guardians are trying to solve the problem. Will and Taranee go to Kadma hoping for answers and some help. They left disappointed and the other girls tried to find the negatives of the photos and were left disappointed as well. In the end Kadma ends up helping them and she solves the problem brilliantly and Will's Dad is gone. This was a great tale of friendship and the struggles they help you through. So enjoyable. Will miss these girls.
I liked that they all worked together to keep Will in their lives, but there were so many things left unresolved. Will's arguments with Matt, Taranee's conflict with her mum, and the teacher who was secretly spying on the girls - what happened to him? Also, I was kinda hoping Cornelia would end up with Peter since she seemed to fancy him in previous books. Also, we haven't heard from Elyon in a while. Seemed anticlimactic after all these months of reading.

I finalllly finished this series. In recent years I’ve tried to finish series I started as a kid. It’s extremely difficult sometimes to read books meant for children as it can get very boring but this series is super cute and a main theme is friendship which I adored
A great ending to this chapter series of books from my childhood. Bringing love and friendship as it’s main moral to show young kids that friends are just as important and are a found family.
I loved this series! All of the different girls had their own individual personalities that made the series more enjoyable to read. Also, of course the cool magical powers was a plus. I loved the character relationships and adventures the girls got themselves into.
I read this book when I was younger and I didn't understan it. But I read it over the summer and it had me wish I had a type of friend ship like they have.
