Time travel can get tricky, but what is starting to be made clear is the idea of legacy in this series. And that is exemplified by the reason Ben is being featured as a special guest speaker on Krakoa today. He is posed a lot of tough questions about what it means to have an effect on the world and it what it will ultimately surmount to. Ben doesn’t always have the best answers, especially when hot heads start yelling out conspiracies during his talk…which is luckily why Reed setup an ear piece that suggests diplomatic alternative things to say instead of starting a brawl, lol. Something Ben was more than willing to talk about with Wolverine after the talk as they shared a drink. And that’s exactly why Logan tries to stay out of the public eye. But as they are sitting and enjoying their Krakoa special cosmically irradiated drinks that allow even Ben to get buzzed immediately…Ben gets an alert. Since the last issue when that scavenger time travelers broke in and stole some stuff from Reed, the FF setup a device to alert if his presence is detected again…and it just went off on Krakoa! Suddenly the telepathic emergency broadcast system rushes into everyone’s minds announcing an attack as portals all over the island open up and robots come barreling in! Everyone jumps into action to defend the place, leaving no one the wiser as the main time traveler slips into the bar Ben and Logan just left. It with the general sense that these robots are lightweights, and the main x-men there to handle them, Ben runs off to follow the energy signature for the head honcho they are looking for…and Wolverine notices and follows right behind him.

Turns out Ben found the guy, now in a completely different getup, siphoning energy from the stuff they use to make the drinks, as apparently it is essential for “lubricating temporal vector foil.” It’s odd how honest this time traveler is getting with Ben, but as he supposes they are temporally tethered now, as for the traveler this is their third time meeting. Whelp sorry Ben, guess that means you will see this guy at least 1 other time without defeating him. But the traveler has also picked up some magic, which he immediately uses to pickup and trap Ben, only to bring down his mask and reveal his face with a very ugly metal nose right in the middle. Huh, I wonder if he always had that or if Ben punched it off last time they met. Either way, the idea of legacy spurs back up again as the traveler talks about how much he always admired Ben and the idea of heroes like him. But fate has since forced introspective and the idea of them is now a contradiction to the world that he seeks to remedy. But there is still a small part of him that is still fascinated with Ben, and decides a “look under the hood” is in order as he starts to try and pull Ben’s rocks from his skin! Exposing muscle and a bunch of other things we should see grasping to his body. Luckily Wolverine shows up just in time to slice the travelers magic arm in 3 parts, as he then proceeds to turn the man into a shish kebab!! With the medical advancements on Krakoa he won’t stay dead unless they want him to, so why don’t our two heroes share a drink while they get a pickup going…except the traveler has he ideas, specifically in the form of a vial that he injects and turns himself into a giant fire breathing monster…wonderful. As he breaks from his suit we get our first look at the rest of his body, and it’s covered in super hero tattoos. This guy wasn’t just an admirer, he is a full blown fan boy! And while Logan unfortunately gets the bottom half of his body (save the bones) burned off, that leaves Ben to deal with this thing. He immediately runs over and cracks his own fist into the monsters, leaving its hand a bony mess. It sends of a burst of flame that burns Ben’s side, but at that point the effects of the serum wear off and the traveler makes a retreat to home base, he can’t believe that Ben is strong enough to kill the effects that soon. Immediately the traveler is aided by a woman and their robots to start healing him up. But Ben isn’t done, that fool left the portal open and now Ben is trying to climb his way through and bust his metal nose off! The villain continues with his monologues, announcing himself not as a villain but as the unseen legacy of humanity that is here to see that they become something better. Which as Ben can clearly see, apparently means building a giant bomb. I am wondering if his project is to build an atom bomb that will wipe the history of heroes away for good, probably because he went through a lot of trauma and experience where the ideals they represented didn’t live up to the hype. Either way, one of the robots blasts Ben back to Krakoa and closes the portal before he can get through. Luckily Ben still had the hand and magic ring of the time tracker that he can get looked at, so of course our next tale will include Doctor strange! I swear if this ends up being the second encounter and somehow the traveler gets the ring he used to fight Ben from his own hand, lol.

Not a fan of the art but the story held up really well and the narrative rattled along nicely.

Yikes! There is some gross-out, but awesome, action in this one. All delivered with some amazing art that'll give you the willies. Just look at the cover to see what I mean.
