After years of putting it off, I find myself ready for a pack. I’m not much of a social person, books and writing being my whole life, so meeting a pack organically is out of the question.
So, when my best friend finds an ad for a Valentine's Day speed dating event, I take the leap and sign up.
I only had hopes for at least a date for the holidays, but I end up leaving with a lot more.
Holden, Benji and Grant are everything I was hoping for in a pack.
Things happen fast, but they feel right because we’re meant to be.
But, their older brother Phoenix is not very happy about the Omega his brothers bring home.
He says he doesn’t want an Omega, and that his brothers can have me. Only thing is, I’m his scent match too.
But you see, I have a little secret I’m not ready to tell my new pack about. I’m a world famous author with only a select few who knows the real identity of the person behind the pen name.
Phoenix wants to make a deal with Marie Day, to make one of her books into a motion picture.
That's not going to happen until he can pull his head out of his ass and give in to the want for me he clearly has.
Because I’m a stubborn omega with nothing but time and I’m not going anywhere.
So... there's a lot about this that didn't work for me.
First, let me note that this book could have used a copyeditor. There were lots of places where a wrong word was used, or the words were transposed in a weird way that had me puzzling out what the sentence was actually supposed to be. But overall, for me, that was a small issue...but YMMV.
The bigger problem to me was the hold-out alphahole, Phoenix, and Maya's (FMC) feelings towards him. Because the whole thing was childish and ridiculous, and I hated Maya for wanting him. So here's the tea:
Phoenix had a previous relationship with an omega, and he thought she was his - he loved her, as did the other guys in his (now broken-up) pack. Turns out she was stringing them along to steal their money. She peaced out with millions embezzled, and the pack broke up over the hurt. Phoenix's takeaway from this wasn't "that was a manipulative bitch" ... no no, it was "ALL OMEGAS ARE MANIPULATIVE BITCHES" as if this 36 year old grown-ass man is a goddamn toddler. One experience with one person coloring your view of the entire sub-species ... well, there's a word for that and it isn't a nice one. Let's reframe this, shall we? Phoenix is a billionaire alpha - privileged, family that loves him, everything in the world is his for the taking. Omegas are the most vulnerable members of society - I have not read a single omegaverse story that wasn't laced with subplots of sex trafficking and abuse. Let's imagine this as a contemp romance where the poor little white rich guy meets a POC woman in school, falls in love with her, and she breaks his heart, maybe screws his best friend or something, and takes off with his bank account. What a bitch, right? Right. If poor little rich boy's takeaway was "ALL POC WOMEN ARE MANIPULATIVE BITCHES" we'd all have a real problem with that.
Especially seeing it play out in this book, where his fellow packmates meet an omega they scent match to, and he is absolutely horrible to her right from his first encounter with her. Going out of his way to say unbelievably horrible things to her. Rejecting her in the first 10 seconds of meeting her (because they are of course also scent matches), viciously, while loudly proclaiming his obsessive belief that all omegas are the epitome of evil. He wants her out of his pack house NOW, he wants her scent scrubbed from every surface of the pack house, and he wants her to never be near him again. That's both amazingly narcissistic and not possible, because she is the fated mate of everyone else in the pack. But Phoenix doesn't care. He doesn't want an omega and fuck the rest of them, their worlds should all revolve around him and what he says. Later he makes a point of picking up a ho-bag right in front of the omega, to drive home the point that he doesn't want her at-fucking-all. You guys, he was a CHILD. As hurtful as possilbe at every opportunity, though he hadn't even had a single conversation with her.
Early on, I was proud of Maya because she started out with the attitude of "well, fuck this guy!" But unfortunately, she rapidly devolved into "it's okay cuz he's hot"-syndrome. This was agitated by the constant fucking refrain of "just hang in there, Maya, you'll prove to him that you're nothing like her" as if SHE has to prove something to HIM. That's when I got pissed. They OF COURSE end up together. Not because he grovels or anything. He just decides he wants her, and she spreads her legs immediately, and that's that.
It was gross.
Lastly, I want to touch on the neurodivergent elements in this book. As someone with social anxiety and a tendency to be such a hermit that you need a crowbar to get me out of my house, at first I kind of dug it. And it wasn't all bad. But I started to get irritated at about the midway mark when it felt like Maya went from being this impressive chick who got her own life together even if she is a little different from everyone else, to this weak-willed watery doormat. She cried all the time, about everything, constantly...to the point where it felt infantilizing, which pissed me off. She's a capable damn woman, who built a life all on her own, and has been taking care of herself while building an impressive career. But then on a dime, she suddenly doesn't seem capable of anything, to the point where you wonder how this woman wasn't found dead in her apartment, eaten by cats, years ago.
It ended up being hugely frustrating.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
this was mostly fun! entertaining and i liked our mmcs being massive simps (mostly), plus the fmc being a millionaire was such a fun change. but after a while i just got bored… there wasn’t really a plot when it came down to it. but if you’re in the mood for a light, romance focused omegaverse book then go for it!
I dnfed this at 28%. i think this author’s writing style just isn’t for me. didn’t feel attached to any of the characters. tbh the fmc being an indie author made me cringe. the only plot line i really cared about was phoenix, because the other guys were so insta love. (i don’t have a problem with insta love, but i felt like she didn’t have a unique relationship with any of the guys). might give another chance eventually.
I couldn’t get past how much of a self insert this book is. The main character is a bestselling indie author who makes millions a year, not to mention that we meet a famous celebrity in the book (who is going to be in her own book) who has the same name as the author.
There is no plot to be seen. Nothing really happens. The main character and three alphas are all in love by the 10% mark, the rest is just sex and the odd interaction. Now I love a purely smutty book, but the characters and the relationships have to be great to pull it off… and that wasn’t the case here. They were all bland and uninspired.
Most of the drama was centred around Nix, the oldest brother, who had a traumatic previous girlfriend so he’s very anti-omega. I thought the book would be focusing on him sorting his shit out, but he just kind of magically gets over his aversion to omegas, seemingly cos he can’t get it up for the many other women he tries to bang during this book.
I very nearly DNFd but just found myself skipping through the smut as I was already passed the halfway mark, though I kinda wished I’d just DNFd.
Holy knotting chaos, Batman. This book is an omegaverse smorgasbord with one gloriously needy Omega, four Alphas that range from cinnamon roll to “sir, I’ll do anything you say,” and enough sexual tension to snap my spine in half.
Maya is the kind of Omega who knows what she wants (cough, ALL FOUR ALPHAS) and bless her needy little heart. Girl’s got needs, okay? And I respect the hell out of that.
And the Alphas? Oof. A walking kink buffet, with everything from sweet to growly.
Also, can we PLEASE talk about Lulu? Maya’s bestie is a goddamn legend. A sassy, unhinged icon. I want her to narrate my life and then take me out for tequila shots and bad decisions. She’s that friend who’ll hype you up and threaten to castrate your enemies, and I love her for it.
If you’re into omegaverse with well-written dynamics, a spicy slow(ish) burn that builds beautifully, and an Omega who collects Alphas like Pokémon, Knot Going Anywhere is definitely worth a read. Pack a fan. And some snacks. And maybe a stress ball.
This OMV book was too cute. I loved the characters and Lulu. This book was filled with plot, action, and enough cuteness to keep me happy!! I will admit, I did my little happy dances at some parts of the book.
Like many RH, this book suffered from (a) an omega who loses her identity halfway through and (b) a pack whose members are virtually indistinguishable from one another, sans the grumpy and reluctant alpha who is slow to accept the pack's omega.
I have to start off by saying that I LOVED the premise of the book, however I didn't feel like it was executed well. I've been sitting on my review for a few days, because I honestly wasn't sure what to rate it. This book felt disjointed at times, and I absolutely loathed Phoenix. He was a straight up jerk and it never quite felt like he redeemed himself for being so horrible to Maya (FMC). SPOILER ALERT! It was a dick move knowing you have a scent match, but you leave in front of her with another woman to have sex (which just turns into a make-out session, because he can't get it up, but still). His whole rationale was just dumb in my opinion for how horrible he was to her. Look I've read dark omegaverse before and I'm not quite sure what this was supposed to be, but it's definitely not like any I've read, so maybe I'm not the target audience for this book?
I think the biggest reason I gave this book 2 stars is the overuse of the work giggle (giggling). Yep, you read that right I took off a full star just for this. This word was used over 50 TIMES in this book, and it became so obnoxious I couldn't focus on the story. I think it was used over a dozen times in one chapter alone. Author if you do not have an editor, I implore you to get one, because boy was that annoying.
I'm not sure if I could recommend someone to read or not to read. I think if you like an alpha who's a complete ahole to the FMC and doesn't redeem himself this one is for you. I really did like the FMC Maya and the other alphas in her pack.
Maya is a sweetheart of an omega. She's twenty six and is still unmated. After leaving calling wood she started a career as an indie author. Her anxiety gets to her and has kept her from putting herself out there to find a pack. She's been holding out for her scent match alphas, and after going to a Valentines day mixer, she meets the perfect pack. Pack Jamison is a pack of 5 alpha brothers. Benji, holden, Grant and Phoenix. One problem, Phoenix was hurt by an omega and has sworn to never have one again, but his brothers are ready to settle down and once they meet Maya, there's no denying that they want her. This book is hot and spicy and I love the mental health rep with both Maya and Phoenix. Phoenix starts as a moody alphahole, but he soon became my favorite. This was such an incredible omegaverse story and I'm loving this universe and where it's going with each standalone.
3.5⭐️’s - I enjoyed this book for the most part, but it came to a point where it felt like the plot went from an emotional coming-of-age type of plot to “f*ck it, let’s get it on” with lack of substance.
The first 3/4 it felt like It ramped into getting to know the characters and their personalities, but then got sidetracked into porn… well… not exactly porn, but like….
I’d assume it’d feel like if you were a teenage boy and find a girl you like, became almost obsessed on how to “win the girl”. Then, when you got the girl with due diligence, patience and doing the work like a stand up gentleman, you now obsessively think of the million ways you wanted to have sex with that girl based on the unrealistic porn you watched when you weren’t getting any as an immature teenager.
Maya is a great FMC, she has anxiety and some struggles, but she is also independent, fierce, and sweet. She goes to a dating mixer, and when she decides to leave, meets one guy who intrigues her and convinces her to go out. Three of the brothers are all in, right away, but their older brother, Phoenix, doesn’t want an omega due to his past. I loved that this wasn’t a “we all have to agree” type scenario and the three brother stood up to him and were willing to put Maya first. Phoenix,is definitely a jerk at times, and I wanted to shake him, but I did like that even when he was trying to avoid her, he did do something’s to be there for her. I also loved Maya bff - she rocked. This is a sweet, low angst, spicy, great read :)
This book is SO good! The story is so cute and I didn’t want it to end. I highly recommend Knot Going Anywhere to anyone who loves omegaverses or is looking to try one out for the first time!
Maya was so freaking relatable, and her anxiety was written so well. It felt very authentic and was written with care. Phoenix, Holden, Grant and Benji are the ultimate dream guys for any bookish girl out there! Alisha knew exactly what she was doing with that bookstore scene 🫠🥰 They were all so supportive of Maya, especially with her anxiety. They all have explosive chemistry and the spice is hottt 🥵
⭐️: 5/5 🌶️: 3/5
What to expect: 🌸 omegaverse 🌸 why choose 🌸 age gap 🌸 billionaire romance 🌸 golden retriever hero 🌸 mates 🌸 mental health representation
I loved this book so much! I could not put it down and finished in one go! Maya is an absolutely beautiful character. I love her independence and how she didn’t NEED alphas. She is so relatable in her struggles with anxiety. It touched me on such a personal level, the message that just because you are struggling with hard stuff, like anxiety you’re not a burden to the right people.
My obsession with Maya’s Alphas is embarrassing. They are sooo sooo sweet, and perfectly imperfect.
This book was a STEAMY omegaverse, with scent matches, a resistant alpha, an independent omega and doting alphas. There is no mm but that’s okay it was perfect without it.
Alisha has easily become one of my favorite omegaverse authors ! I love how this author always touches on such realistic topics and struggles we can all relate to. Maya was such a relatable character, especially with her struggle with anxiety. Her alphas were TOP NOTCH, and I just adored their dynamic together. Their love and support to her struggles melted my heart. This was extremely well written with an addicting plot that will have you binge this in one sitting. You can always count on Alisha for some top notch spice scenes, and this one DELIVERED with scenes you will devour and will leave you drooling. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I love Alisha’s sweet omegaverse books and this one is no exception. Maya is a great character, she’s so sweet and caring. She has her issues, anxiety and panic attacks, that she thinks make her broken. Her Alphas work tirelessly to prove to her that she is not broken, there is absolutely nothing wrong with her. They are so sweet to her right from the start (well except Nix) and I love them. Even Nix really isn’t so horrible except the first time they meet, but he has his reasons and he definitely comes around. There’s not a lot of angst here, no relationship drama, very little OW drama, just a lot of sweet fluffy love. It’s a great palate cleanser from all the dark, bully books I read at times. I’ve read her other omegaverse books multiple times, and I know I will this one as well. Highly recommend if you want a low drama, high heat book!
This book! I was drawn in from the first word and just hid away in this world until the epilogue. I enjoy a lot of books (and loved both of the others in this world) but it isn’t every day that I’m so into a book that I blow off everything else to stay until it’s done in one sitting. The way Maya’s anxiety was handled was top notch and I loved how her alphas supported and met her in those struggles. Add on hockey boys?!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️🏒 Just the best!
This was GREAT! The set up for Maya and her men was adorable and I love me a he falls first story, albeit THEY fall first…. Followed by she falls immediately.. and then it’s practically enemies to lovers! The Jamison pack was so well structured and makes me want a pack of my own! Looking forward to reading the books for the side characters in this story. I binged it and almost didn’t sleep because I couldn’t stand to pause the story!
This book was a disappointing read for me. The premise sounded good and fun. However, it fell flat for me. By page 50ish, they were in love, and it was so insta lust.
The characters had hardly any personality, and I struggled with a lot of the language that was used throughout the book.
I honestly didn't think Alisha could write a book that I loved more than We Are Worthy. She proved me wrong. The characters are not perfect. That's what makes them relatable.
Absolutely one of my favorite OVs. I loved this book. I felt like I really had a connection with the FMC (anxiety….what a bi*ch). But I loved the guys they were fantastic and so supportive. Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice:🌶️🌶️🌶️.5
this is a novella turned novel and it shows. the first 9 chapters, the original novella are 9 chapters of instalove and flat male characters. Its hard enough to round out 2 leads in a novella, but 5, incredibly difficult. So the male characters don’t start to get fleshed out more until more than half way through. Plus 3 of 4 MMCs are seemingly perfect. In other words romantic but ultimately boring. There are somethings I liked - I liked some of the tension between Phoenix and Maya. I loved the scene in the bookstore. but it ultimately was blah.
Absolutely loved this book. I flew through it and I wish I could go back and read it for the first time again. If you love angst, spice, a touch of forbidden, and omegaverse. This is the one for you!
I will admit I dnf in chapter 5 The writing is mediocre and child like. Child like is great for YA. Not so hot when you're reading about adults in sexual relationships 🤮
