Beginning in 1816 at the Villa Diodati in Switzerland where Lord Byron, Percy Shelley, Claire Clairmont, John Polidori and Mary Wollstonecraft come together to tell each other ghost stories. This highly original novel follows a house boy called Felix and a mysterious girl called Lizzie Appleby and the story she has to tell. A literary novel that speculates on the "real story" behind the creation of Frankenstein, Carroll has created an entertaining and extremely well written work. A relatively short read that is well worth the journey.
